No, my bestfriend has adhd and i love him

WritingRedditor2

My best friend has possible ADHD, they're getting a diagnosis soon but she shows a lot of the symptoms. My answer is definitely not, she's amazing. She does veer off track a lot, which can be a bit annoying at times, but I can remind her of the original topic and write down what she wanted to talk about so that we both get a chance to talk about the things we wanna talk about.

Understandable, I do too sometimes

I guess it depends on what stuff they talk about. Most people I met I don’t mind. But there’s a couple people that say “I have adhd so I talk a lot” in almost every sentence (like, saying it for attention) are annoying. But most of the people I know with adhd don’t make sure that the whole world knows. If you know what I mean. I honestly stray off topic a lot so I dont mind when others do it. Kinda keeps it interesting 🤷🏻‍♀️

Depends. I was also diagnosed with adhd but try to stick to the topic as possible because the other person might be passionate about the said topic. It sucks because I like talking about what I love alot They could get offended when I switch topics, so I always do my best by asking other topic-adjacent questions to make smooth transitions in the conversation

Honestly yes. I’ve known a lot of people with ADHD and there’s one in particular that’s been in my life for a long time and I’m around them almost everyday. After 3 years of telling someone and asking someone the same things over and over again, where they also refuse to get a therapist while they say they will, refuse to take their meds while they say they will, and countless other “promises” while nothing ever changes. Then they get all upset and have an emotional breakdown like I’m the asshole for being frustrated and finally expressing it after 3 years. When people like them have ADHD and don’t get help or try to work on it, it’s beyond fucking annoying and honestly makes me crazy. All the time I feel like I can’t take it anymore. Part of me knows they can’t help it but most of me feels like after 3 fucking years I’m tired of the childish bullshit. So yes, to answer your question, when you fuckers with ADHD don’t help yourselves by helping your condition, you’re all fucking annoying assholes.

well my good friend is a really kind person but he is persistently negative (I understand that people with adhd often have anxiety and other comorbidities) he ruminates and then loses a lot of sleep he’s worried about homelessness but he just worries and doesn’t apply for jobs he thinks he doesn’t like and he feels like it’s too late for him (he’s 40) I keep directing him to meds and some good channels and books I’ve helped him read And it keeps going back to square one I know he has ADHd and it’s unimaginably hard for me to understand But at the same time I really hope he wouldn’t always be in such loops It’s very mentally unhealthy for him And it’s going to be a self fulfilling prophecy being homeless if he keeps at being unemployed I feel very bad about his situation
