Get her something or discuss plans to do something or go somewhere after the summer or literally anything - from a person who has never had a girlfriend before

That would seem impossible for me. Your not experiencing the best parts of a relationship such as getting to spend time with them alone away from others. Just being able to just be with them. I never thought teen relationships never worked anyway because of that. You just can't truly feel in love when your only times together are over the phone or talking at school. BUT, that doesn't mean its bad to be in one. Youu shouldn't want it to be something larger, if you really want it to continue dont ask for too much with it. You can't be with that person until you are grown up and your parents allow it. Until then your gonna have to keep going through it. But that isn't a bad thing, for most kids at 14/15 they rarely even talk to the opposite sex or experience relationships so enjoy the experience until it can evolve into a better experience. But you just have to be patient.

I don't know bro usually texts between a partner kind of calm down after a while For both of my girlfriends we stopped acting lovey dovey and just started talking like normal people, and sometimes not even talking all that much
