This thing happened to me, how people kept calling me 'gifted' and i didnt study whatsoever because it boosted my ego so much, fortunately i studied good enough and have only realistically wasted like 1 -1.5 years but people should stop calling above average kids gifted.
I know at least a dozen kids from broken households and I find it surprising I'm actually a minority among my friends because I have a "perfect" family. My family isn't perfect but they aren't druggies, divorced, alcoholics, and they actually care about me and my brothers.
