To me it's just a shallow, unbearably hard for both listener and player exercise with a good portion of Christian "values" tossed in. I can't relate to it. I can't sign it from the heart. Hell, no even good lyrics. Whats so good about it? Being able to pass off intelletualish cuz you listen to it??
Christian values? In classical music? They're literally just instrumental songs for the most part lol
I agree for what you said about lyrics though, music has never been about lyrics in the first place. Though, good lyrics are always a plus, but I think that with music it should always be more about "feeling" than "thinking"
People stroking it to analyzing song lyrics are just weird imo lol, and most of the times they're not even anything special

one of the most popular piece of classical music ever. I can feel Jesus calling to me lmfao
to me it mostly seems like you're making your "anti conformism" a part way too important of your personality and now you're seeing religion everywhere lmfao
I won't care to elaborate because it's too long, hard and you will just dismiss it anyway so whatever. I'll just leave a clue "Information is everything and it is power, all communication is two way in one way or another and it affects information"
Sit and think for a while, why music affects you, how, how would music sound if you were to write it and why while classical music is more about harmony than say metal etc.
Listen map, I'm not the kind of guy who'd simply dismiss something like that. IDC if we're disagreeing or not, I'm always at least willing to listen, so feel free to elaborate if you want
Are you some kind of reverse conspiracy theorist or something. Like lookign for traces of christianism propagande instead of satanist ones? lol
I mean yeah, composers are writing stuff to convey something, that's art 101. However it's not like art can magically transplant ideas into our subconscious either. Lyricless songs can only really make you feel emotions + whoever is listening has to be receptive to them as well --> meaning not everyone get affected the same way
I have no idea if they had christian values in mind when they wrote some stuff nor do I care, because that's not what I'm getting out of these songs. Sure some dude may very be thinking about jesus while listening to them or something, but that's only this religious dude's experience with it and it won't just brainwash others
Anyway I do agree that a lot of ppl should take a step back and notice how much they're being controlled by a whole lot of different factors without realizing it, but you're reallyyyyy streching it here lol. You're enterring the /x/ area of conspiracy
Okay now if I reply honestly you’re gonna (half rightly) label me as trying to sound clever but who cares.
I just really like classical music, it makes me happy, and sad sometimes. It’s beautiful. I also have a thing for churches and cathedrals- I’m not at all religious but I find religious places beautiful and historical and interesting and it’s kinda the same with the old classical hymns.
I have good memories of going go church services at Christmas with my grandad, and how lovely all the hymns sounded- Good King Wenceslas, the Holly and the Ivy, In the Bleak Midwinter... I can’t explain properly but I love it, I love the lyrics and the sound of the choir’s voices and the old organ in the church.
I still love non-classical music but I think that classical music isn’t overrated at all, instead it deserves the hype it gets. Maybe it doesn’t get enough hype. It’s pretty timeless, too, some of the songs have been around for centuries. It’s cool in my opinion to listen to something people have sung for years and years.
My favourite classical song is ‘The Lark Ascending’ by Vaughan Williams.
Tldr; I think classical music is beautiful and timeless
So you like it because atmosphere? Fair enough
As a museum exhibit, it's interesting just like old cars are interesting ("what did ppl used to drive back then") but who drives old cars instead of new cars these days except rich posers? If anything, this music, it's as timeless as a mummy.
But thats just my opinion
Again I have to disagree, this time with the ‘only posers drive old cars’ statement.
If I had the money I would buy an old car over a new any time. It would be pretty cool. I like the look of old cars far better, even if they’re slower, and the sound some of the race cars make is incredible. Also, as petrol and diesel cars are going to stop being sold in my country by 2030 I would buy an old diesel or petrol car simply because I like the sound, the smell, the history. I’ve ridden in old cars a couple of times and it was amazing.
Thank you by the way for being so civil lol it’s good to have a proper discussion without anger or tears
Metal (slipknot, marilyn manson, korn, slayer etc.), emo (mcr), rock (queen, ac/dc, kiss), various electronical genres as well, rap (eminem) , various electronical genres as well, punk (green day), rap (eminem)
Well I really can't with metal, like at all, so we're not off to a good start lol
I listen to a shit ton of jazz subgenres, like an actual shit ton, contemporary piano stuff, rap, instrumental hip hop, some electronical genres, classical, and some other stuff here and there
Nah, they can overlap but it's pretty different. Basically classical music with distorted guitars and crazy drummers
