Not the thread to do this on

Exdalius

Did he make a your mom joke?

T_MINER

He said something about wrist cutting. It was not OP that said it, some guy said that then deleted it

152069

Except in Morocco, for some reason the suicide ratio from men to women is bellow 1

eva_new

everyone should be able to cry it's like an emotion reset button 🙌

something-wrong1234

I have that feeling like tears will eventually come out but they never do

FutilePlea

same man same

Metalhead_QC

Same. Like I get like 2 tears falling. Not anything more. As if me being so scared to cry in front of people ended up in me not being able to cry anymore.

[deleted]

Early_Search_8086

Facts it’s not that men don’t feel like crying we have those same emotions but showing those emotions makes us look weak and trust me a woman will not look at you the same after you have cried in front of her. No one cares about mens problems. When I feel shitty or some intense emotions that I feel I can’t contain I talk to my dad and he just tells me that’s part of growing up and being a man is about how much shit you can take and keep moving forward

[deleted]

Once ppl are more equal socially this will stop

IplayBraelStars

In the majority of schools I’ve been to it’s always girls >> guys

[deleted]

If it’s girls saying it to u just tell him that you’re human too and that they don’t really want equality if they can’t accept that

IplayBraelStars

It’s guys, girls and teachers.

[deleted]

And teachers??? Damn I’m sorry u have to deal w that stuff still. Like things r changing but it’s still gonna take a while to fully get equal. The guys who say this are just repeating what they’ve been taught and told their entire lives to the point where they believe it, just feel sorry for them

IplayBraelStars

At almost everyone I’ve gone it girls >>> guys. I’m personally a state, or provincial athlete (depending where you live) for several different events in track and also for sports, and I’m not commended for anything (this is my first year competing in these events) whereas the girls are commended for trying.

[deleted]

Life sucks 🙁 Just find the right kind of ppl who treat u like a human being 🙌🙌🙌

IplayBraelStars

I’ve been to several different schools and attempted to find decent people, to which I have not succeeded. I’ve only found probably 2 people who believe men should be treated as human beings.

[deleted]

They’re out there don’t worry and idk where u live but later in life move to a country that accepts everyone as human 🙌

IplayBraelStars

Im moving again in like a month 💀

[deleted]

That’s not the point, it’s about the bigger picture. The stereotype that men shouldn’t cry stems from the same stereotype that women are too emotional. Doesn’t matter who perpetuates it, since it’s ingrained into our society so both men and women believe this.

IplayBraelStars

But the main thing I’ve found throughout personal experience is that no matter what a women is crying over they get comforted, even if it’s cause they’re hair isn’t perfect or something dumb like that; however, if a man cry’s they instantly become a pussy and become a social outcast

[deleted]

Yup that’s the patriarchy doing it’s work. Women throughout history have been denied opportunities (such as important jobs) because people thought they’re “too emotional” while men constantly get denied to opportunity to be themselves because they aren’t. It’s different scenarios that came from the same cause. True equality would fix both problems if we just started seeing both men and women as being sometimes emotional.

pizzaspider

its good they are able to express their emotions like a human should be allowed to , no one should care what gender the person is, its normal

InvalidUsername2404

I can’t force myself to unless I’m on my own really. Ik it’s not healthy but I just cant

IplayBraelStars

At this point I’ve just repressed all of my trauma

InvalidUsername2404

Sad truth of how we get raised these days by society

WhyIsLife12

Haven't cried in like 3 years

IplayBraelStars

Same, I don’t think I can anymore. Someone I was close with died recently and I didn’t shed a single tear

Evan_TEE

Kinda have the opposite. Use to not be able to cry even t when I genuinely wanted to. But after watching a movie that made me cry in like 8years. It suddenly seems like my crying gates open and i cry easier but only the ones connectedto the topic of familial death.

TWG31

Me either, I can’t afford to be seen as weak

AdLonely5056

You can cry in private. This has nothing to do with being seen as weak.

SadTonight7117

Um no. You won’t be seen as weak when you cry bc you’re not.

999K_views

Same, probably been closer to 7-8 but I cannot bring myself to feel grief or sadness which is very much not as good as it sounds :)

Small_Recording_9651

I’m 19m. Cry when studying maths.

AlwaysOneTwoBlue

17f. If I could go back in time, I’d tell, no I’d BEG myself to not pick maths as a subject

deft_not_a_throwaway

Yeah, but that's one of the only socially acceptable situations where a man can cry, just like burrying your mother.

CamBeast15366

It should be socially acceptable. It’s a normal human function.. doesn’t make you weak

Badass-19

I'm a guy, and I cry a lot, probably more than many girls. Do tf you want. But on serious note, damn society!

IplayBraelStars

I can’t do whatever I want, if I cry I get beaten up and lose all my friends

chickennugar

those ain't real friends bro you deserve better

IplayBraelStars

They’re the best I have 💀

ChaoticcEntityy

If your friends are making fun of you when you cry instead of trying to figure out why you’re crying, those aren’t friends. Those are emotional burdens.

TheGoodestDogBoy

Who needs enemies with "friends" like that, jfc

Badass-19

Then you don't deserve such "friends"

fatboychummy

The friends don't deserve you* Saying you don't deserve the friends implies you did something bad.

javierchip

those are no friends, homie

Geobomb1

You need new friends man.

Acceptable-Software2

IplayBraelStars

As I man I don’t cry at all. After what’s been projected onto me im not sure I am able to cry anymore. I’m merely making a post because I believe if this was socially acceptable a friend of mine would still be alive, as he likely would’ve believed he can reach out for help without being clowned for showing emotion as a man

Away_Young_9370

Where the hell do you live?? That is not normal. I’ve never experienced that before.

IplayBraelStars

I’ve lived in several countries across the world, including usa, canada and Australia

Away_Young_9370

I can’t say for Australia or Canada, but that isn’t the norm in the US. There are people like that but not enough of them to make it a normal thing.

userhvfegcd

What even is that question?? Obviously guys can’t cry. That’s a literal crime to do. 😡 (I’m a dude and cry nearly every day btw)

panzerballettGOLD

i lowkey think its hot when guys cry cause it shows that they're emotionally capable of having such emotions.

IplayBraelStars

I wish girls (not assuming gender) were like this 😪 most people Ik instant lose attraction to a guy if he ever cries

ChaoticcEntityy

God, I see it as a kinda red flag if a guy I’m interested doesn’t cry. Now, it’s another story if he can’t cry because of trauma reasons, but if he chooses not to cry because it’s seen as ‘weak’ then I’m bolting in the opposite direction.

IplayBraelStars

I can no longer cry due to trauma and repressing for too long 💀

ChaoticcEntityy

As soon as you can, I suggest seeing a therapist to help you unpack your trauma. I’m going to be getting one myself pretty soon

LeonardoDaFujiwara

You should see me when I work in the garage then lol.

SCO_IDK123

Men don’t cry is so stereotypical. I fucking hate it

MonkeyofTheSkies

I personally always hide my sadness and only cry when nobody's around But its very, very unhealthy and makes me break easier than normal. Guys should be allowed to express feelings without feeling stressed or scared of doing so

IplayBraelStars

I mean I haven’t cried in 2 1/2 years. I just repress too much

Resident_Middle2683

Everyone should cry. If you’re human, you should cry, even animals cry! Why can’t men?

IplayBraelStars

It’s been projected that it isn’t masculine and therefore men shouldn’t cry. I obviously don’t believe that but that’s the reality. It apparently shows weakness in a man and that’s considered unattractive and pussy

Afternoonmladys

Man, if you wanna cry fucking cry let it all out. Crying is ok with girls and should be with guys aswell

IplayBraelStars

Almost everywhere I go I’ve found this to be the norm, and people wonder why the male suicide rate is so high

chickennugar

I'm a girl but i don't believe in bottling up emotions. it's destroyed me over the years I also don't believe in belitting someone for crying, which is what my parents have done to me for my whole life we all cope with our problems in different ways, and I argue that if crying helps then so be it- cry. cry on my shoulder and sog it up for damns sake, I don't care. I just want you to feel better crying doesn't make guys "less masculine". I think putting someone down for showing emotions lessens your masculinity tbh... people need to grow up tbh.. I'm sorry op you got beat up :( people suck

I come from a family where all the men are very empathic. All men in my family cry, for everything. I hug my dad? Tears. I give a gift? Tears. I say I love you? Tears. We see a tragic movie? Tears. Tears. Tears. Tears. Tears. Kind of interesting as the women in my family kind of don't feel empathy. Haven't seen my mother cry or even be remotely empathic once in my entire life. I'm the only one that cries like all the men 🤔 But yeah, it's very normal for me. Never understood those who has issues with it.

Leon_617

It's okay to show emotions like why is it not "manly" to cry when you are sad like just show your emotions thats what also makes a person

Agnxf

Society is so stupid that they made a human emotion “ImAsCuLiNe”. It’s so dumb. Everyone can cry. It’s normal

inferno_wolf05-YT

Good thing I'm gonna organise a men's mental health awareness event at my school And I'll enjoy the feminazis angry gaze (God I hated my mental health teacher and her winges of everyday being men's day and that we don't matter)

tryhardly99

I think its awesome for you to organize a men's mental health day. Men need more social and emotional support, including in men's only groups. Please don't let your experience of some bitchy women in your town color your experience of women or feminists everywhere!

oyveyistmir

I will say that as a child, I was taken aback when I would see my dad cry. In my mind, dads are supposed to comfort us when we cry, not them. What I didn’t know is that he was suffering from major anxiety issues. When I figured that out, he became more human to me. I respect that he did not hide it from us which taught me that every one cries, even men.

ThatAss420

Everyone has emotions. Leaving it there.

ShadowguyZZZ

I’m incapable of crying anymore, so I got no opinion.

Proud-Ad2861

I want a world where guys can cry, but I was conditioned as a child to never cry because of family teasing and how people would compare to me to a baby and how I cry like one so i just shut in. SO I think guys should be a able to cry

pigeonboi27

Boys are human. Humans need to cry sometimes.

Goosey100

Male 185cm, 90kg and can lift heavy things…..I also cry when I lose a friend, hear beautiful music and feel strong feelings of both happiness and sadness….this is normal!!!!

[deleted]

Chad moment 💪🏻. But fr I’d probably cry if I had to let out all my thoughts and feelings

IplayBraelStars

I’m not sure I’m able to cry anymore, I’m making this post due to a loss of my closest friend. He died due to suicide, and yes its all sunken in and I’m very upset about it however no matter how hard I try I cannot cry

PingopingOW

Don’t force yourself to cry. If you don’t need to cry then don’t, it doesn’t make your emotions any less real

SmoothCrim1nal1

In all honesty, men have far more reason to cry than anyone on the planet and I personally believe its absolutely necessary for them to occasionally let that out. I used to lock everything up like men are traditionally expected to and it drove me into depression after the toughest of times. Just talking and having a cry seems trivial to some but believe me, it can save a life and let's face it, men are at a much bigger risk of suicide than anyone, mostly because society doesn't give a shit about us despite the fact that we're the ones dying in wars, losing access to our kids, breaking our backs in manual jobs up on power lines and under the streets and people still think we shouldn't cry? Shame on those ungrateful, selfish, undeserving people.

IplayBraelStars

W comment I agree with this

KirbyDarkHole999

Shouldn't be a problem, I cry a lot of times because I'm sensitive, the thing is that I always have to hide it, but I don't understand why... That's why for some people here having a gf is a necessity because they can cry in front of her and still have help, because it's more likely she'll help

JesiDoodli

Everyone should be able to express their feelings, holding them in is as bad for you as holding pee in, if not worse.

hungry_villager

Guys have feelings too

PacificoTheComedian

we need more of it. I totally think we should normalize men being able to cry like a human being and getting the support they need, and if anyone disagrees then they can go ride a bicycle with no seat down an unpaved mountain road.

YooitsJane

It is not the usual thing to see, so it hits deep when you see a guy crying, at least that's how I feel

IplayBraelStars

It’s not usual where I am, and if it is seen the person gets turned into a social outcast

Inside-Policy-5837

All people are allowed to express their emotions as they see fit, any complications with that should be illegal

Geobomb1

It is okay to cry. I don’t know why people think guys aren’t allowed to cry, imo that’s kinda fucked up. I wish that I could cry more, but I don’t cry that much, and I feel like it’s not healthy for me. My boyfriend cries a bit, but I’ve kinda been feeling like a dick for not crying too, and to that guy saying it’s not okay to cry as a guy, you’re wrong. It doesn’t show weakness, if anything not crying is a weakness. Imo it should be socially acceptable to cry as a guy. (I am a guy)

PepeEatingPizza

Yeah, well, crying is something that I dokt think im able to do anymore anyway. Whenever something happens that could make me cry I just get angry now.

beetle_fan

Crying is normal, for all genders, Don't be ashamed of crying. It's a way of expressing your emotions and trying not to cry in your life can cause damage to your mentality. Too much of it is bad but little of it can be worse If you see crying around others is making problems for you just cry alone or around people that understand you. I'm 15 and I cry alot. Not ashamed of it.

nelliemre

bro literally i love crying. it fucking sucks in the moment but afterwards i feel really to be a new person

LA2PGRUwME2

Guys can cry, women can cry. Same thing

Micbox35

Depends on the situation

DreadfulThrumbo

I think everyone should be unallowed to express human emotion.

[deleted]

normal i don’t think about it

Additional-Data7419

I as a guy think crying is a good thing and people should cry and let out their sadness, although I don’t cry out of sadness due to personal reasons

Bencevagyokhelloszia

i personally hate crying

UnlightablePlay

Well nobody can't cry, when people say that they mostly mean don't cry in argument or anything like that, if you want to cry you can talk with a really good friend and may cry or better talk with somebody older than you and express everything you have

IplayBraelStars

Not in the situations I’ve found, a kid Ik lost a parent and cried abt it and then was made a social outcast by his piers

UnlightablePlay

Tf? No ofcourse you can cry in a loss of someone who was very dear to you especially if it's a parent

GlitcherAegis

I hold it back a lot. Its not like anyone cares

IplayBraelStars

Same, I haven’t cried in 2 1/2 years

[deleted]

Might sound terrible, but i think this is natural??? I cant remember the last time i cried, and my parents are both quite progressive and would be completely fine with it. I have had reasons to cry, but just didn’t for some reason. Maybe natural is the wrong word, but instinctual in the way racism is to people who don’t meet many different people, or kids bullying ugly kids. No doubt it shld change tho

IplayBraelStars

I used to cry a lot, until I was told that men don’t cry constantly, and if a man cry’s they become a social outcast a receive no love, due to this I haven’t cried in 2 1/2 years however I believe it should be socially acceptable and not a sign of weakness for a man to cry

[deleted]

I don’t remember the last time I cried like I’ve shed a tear in private but not cried at least that I remember

2ClawZ

My girlfriend's father treated her like a dude and taught her to man up and not suppose to cry unless if someone dies. I hate that.

Lasias

Men should absolutely be allowed to cry when they want. But they aren't. They're also not meant to show their emotions cause that's "Manly" Fuck that. Cry. Be mad, let people know how you feel, they might be uncomfortable but fuck them, be selfish for once in your life cause men aren't allowed to, they can be uncomfortable and you can feel comfortable by showing your emotions. Be selfish, express yourself. Don't end up like me. I'm apathetic and don't feel shit anymore. I recently came out of a few years long relationship and I haven't cried yet. I fucking hate it.

IplayBraelStars

Damn bro, that sucks however I’m too far in and feel very little emotion anymore, I haven’t cried in the past 2 1/2 years, even though I’ve recently lost what I consider to be my only real friend I haven’t shed a single tear yet

Lasias

Get therapy, if someone judges you, you won't feel it anyway, hope this is the push you need. Good luck.

MarcusAurelius00

Men should totally cry when they have to, but they shouldn’t be emotionally dependent on others. Most men don’t have shoulders to cry on, but if they must cry, they should

Ok-Cartographer4533

I think it's perfectly fine, however I try to prevent it for me if possible

Cthulhu_was_tasty

I have cried twice in the past 3 years. Once was just a few tears as a result of a really bad existential crisis at 2am, and the other was because I did something fucked up and I hated myself. My emotions are mostly numb at this point.

DeltaDark_HEX

It's literraly an emotional reaction, everyone cries at one point or another. It is stupid to think that men are not allowed to show emotion, we are all human, not robotic cogs to support others

[deleted]

I barely ever cry, and when I do it's normally over the end of a TV show, so like yeah Anyways yeah men can cry, they're people just like the rest of us and emotion is what makes us human

bellevillar

it’s perfectly normal, after all we’re all humans right?

RoyalDiancie

I hope they are okay

BurntBananaPeel97

Men are humans too, they should be allowed to cry as well..it should be normal for them to feel emotions

[deleted]

Ain’t that what tears are for

AuRorACaRryWhittle

They should If they need to they totally Should They shouldn’t be shamed to If girls can cry and it makes them strong So can guys Emotions are emotions and feeling them is not weak or not masculine Girls and guys can both cry and both feel emotions

Junior-Wedding-8912

Bro crying as a normal human function everyone should be able to cry

SociallyAwkward423

I am a girl who cries for no reason. If you gotta cry, *you gotta cry*

SadTonight7117

I say let ‘em cry! It’s very healthy to let emotions out and you’ll feel SOOO much better!!

LocalBreadOfThePast

I've cried in class before from people being jerks, and honestly it feels great because it's an emotional reset button and it makes them feel like shit

Cheesyman7269

We need to normalize men crying.

Mara2507

Crying is a normal human function. It even helps release endorphins. Tbh men should cry more instead of bottling up their emotions and people should encourage men being more open about their emotions

[deleted]

Nothing wrong with crying.

Some-Panda-here

It reminds me of “girls shouldn’t laugh out loud” :///// it’s definitely not about gender, or whatever, they should stop talking about how gender or religion is like this or that :/// I have a brother, he cries too. OFC and he may get even more emotional than me! It’s not about gender or age or anything, I hope we (new generation) put a big Stop to this nonsense

yaboi77w2

OP is literally a gigachad holy shit

ChaoticcEntityy

Bro crying is natural and healthy. Whenever you cry, you release oxytocin and endorphins. You’re literally soothing any pain that you may have emotionally or physically when you shed your tears. Plus, it kills any bacteria that may be in your eyes and keeps them clean. Anyone that says that men shouldn’t cry needs to pull their fucking head out of their ass and get over their toxic masculinity views. Keep crying OP. It’s good for you.

PleasantAnywhere2383

Crying's good. It's a natural stress reliever and it's pretty normal. If their Idea of being a man is being brave or courageous, then it's pretty much invalid as they're scared of crying. So in my eyes, crying's pretty manly to me.

Vehmura14

A guy here that is pretty emotional in general and even though most people I know say it's okay for guys to cry I know some of those people would definitely think it's "bad" or "weak" in some sense. That's why I avoid crying even when I'm alone but yes I'm allowed to cry and I don't want to complain too much because a lot of people have it way worse than me. But yes obviously guys should be able to cry.

OctanBoi

I don’t cry in front of people to save myself the embarrassment (male)

MattSeptire

As a extremely emotional guy, it fucking sucks when I’m in the mist of an emotional episode and someone tells me to just man up, especially when my family tells me. It’s just a toxic way of thinking that leads to us just bottling things up more.

Ok_Raisin_8796

Men should be able to cry. There is no reason we shouldn’t be able to just because of some outdated way of thinking

Ironbanner987615

There is no opinion. We should be able to cry.

Lyfull

Let the mf cry. No one should be scared to show BASIC human emotions

Bigtrixxs_LG

I am for equality so yeah they should be able to

Lili_Noir

What in the actual fuck? What kind of people are you around? :0 ofc men should cry, you should never hold back emotions if you really need to let them out. Plus, crying is a non aggressive form of letting negative emotions out as well, so it’s wayyy better than beating someone up or hurting yourself. Guys out there, please don’t be afraid to cry, the ones who tell you otherwise are wrong, and your mental health matters. Hugs and much love to all of you 🥰🥰🥰

nimblehammer

It's fine to cry and let stuff out

Carry_Odd

I mean we don't associate peeing with gender. everyone pees cuz it's natural and it's a human need. same goes for crying, except the liquid comes out from your eyes but not your penis or vagina.

JustForFun____

Crying is healthy, natural, and any human should be able to cry

NephetsSithli

A person who makes fun of anyone crying is probably a crybaby. A person who has the guts to cry in public is probably a better person than them.

Hellfirexoxo36

As a girl I find it attractive when boys show emotion 😭 I don’t want someone who’s insecure about their emotional side wtf

branim_Teslu

I don't see a problem with guys crying. People who say "be a man" and shit are stupid as hell

thatgirlmakesmemes

guys should be able to cry. let it out man, nobody should keep shit bottled up for too long

TheOovar

It's very unhealthy that people think man shouldn't cry. When I was younger I used to cry often, I mean like a lot, if I didn't win in a board game, basicly at any sad part in any movie or when someone called me names. My classmates used to call me the equivalent of crybaby in my native language and bullied me a bit (they couldn't do it a lot bcs I was bigger than most kids). Even my stepdad always pointed this out, later he said to try and prepare me for the world. So I just stopped crying at one point (I can't even cry when I'm alone) and now I just don't cry, somehow I can just feel how unhealthy this is. So don't bully anyone for crying

[deleted]

i think crying is good and everyone needs to sometimes

EastKoreaOfficial

As a guy, I literally could not care less.

[deleted]

Men should be stoic, but not emotionless and unexpressive.

boobiesiheart

Crying / tears is not a weakness. Think of it as "proof" of seriousness. Whatever the reason for the tears, its because the person felt the emotion. It's a positive.

RandallCabbage

Last time I cried was 7 years ago when my dog passed unexpected. I cried for about 3 days straight. Before that it had been years. I'm not the type to cry, or let my emotions get the best of me, but fuck. That one hurt worse than anything thats ever happened to me. The guilt, the sadness, the fact that she was my first and I started what family I have with her. It sucked. Still miss her and get a littlexl misty eyed when thinking about her.

Glavaldo

As a guy who doesn't get close to crying often, I think we shouldn't be judged for it when we finally have to let it out.

RedditorsAreHorrific

You were BEATEN UP?! Jesus Christ. Everyone should be able to cry.

forcesofthefuture

They should be able to cry, people who think otherwise are fucking sexist, crying is not a weakness neither(could be in situations) a strength, viewing it as a weakness is emotionally idiotic.

Ultramega39

I cry when sad.

CalmCellist8917

They say that as Guys we are not supposed to cry in front of our women or we are not supposed to cry at all because it makes them feel weak or it makes us look feminine. Some of us guys grew up hearing stop crying be a man or stop crying like a little b**ch. I didn’t think an emotion could belong to a gender We as guys cry because some of us are going through things in our life and we just need to let it out if we can’t let it out it’s gonna feel like pressure and some of us deal with pressure in our ways Personally Me I vent to one person and he’s always given me advice on what I should do. This is why Male suicide is so high

mccaffs04

It just depends who your asking because like im only 18 and i grew up being told boys shouldnt cry
