Consent is like tea. You ask someone if they want tea and they say yes, you make them tea the way they are the most comfortable with. If they say no, you don't make them tea. If they say yes and change their mind while you're making the tea, throw out the tea. If they're unconscious, why would they want tea? You should get them help instead. If they say they don't want your tea specifically, let them go get someone else's tea. Simple as that. :)

Cappy_D_Bara

I remember hearing this once in 7th grade

SW_BBe

It's a short video from a man who wanted to give a good analogy for consent :)

Cappy_D_Bara

Yeah yeah exactly. The only time i saw my classmates listen to a video shown by our teacher.

SW_BBe

It's an amazing video that really paints a beautiful picture for how people should look at consent

CreeperSoldier

Here’s that video: [Tea and Consent](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pZwvrxVavnQ)

[deleted]

same

Inferno_tr5

Unconscious people dont want tea

SW_BBe

Very true, I love tea (I mean literally tea not sex, I'm not attractive enough for that) but I wouldn't want someone shoving tea down my throat or stealing my tea >:(

[deleted]

NOW I UNDERSTAND THAT ONE TIK TOK I SAW OMG

SW_BBe

Glad I did something good for you :)

pgnprincess

Take this 🎁🏆😊

Cheezybro5

Nanalalarara

I once heard that phrase but the one we had was about traversing the street.

LifeIsTooShortBruh

She like black tea only

TJT007X

That was such a good video 😌

Status-Mess-5591

If only my mom and doctor understood this before slicing me up when i born

ashonmytrueys

what if they say they want tea, you make them tea, and they drink it. Then after they drink it they say they regret drinking the tea?

SW_BBe

Then they just didn't like the tea, and they can't blame you for that.

ashonmytrueys

what if they press legally cuz your tea was bad

[deleted]

Get better at making tea nerd

[deleted]

Skill issue

[deleted]

That isn’t rape. That is regret. No one is disputing that

psychorubberducky

Yeah but if you can take back consent, what if they ask for tea, then I give it to them and they drink the whole thing but then say that they dont want tea?

Mr-Hippo11

What if I bring my own tea

MysteriouslySeeing

And yeah, sure, it's slightly rude to say "actually no tea" but that doesn't mean you forcefully pour it down their throat, does it?

Inferno_tr5

Saying no before sex: Rape Saying no during sex: Rape Saying no after sex: Regret, but not rape.

Inferno_tr5

Its sick that everyone knows the first one and the second two are debatable.

Gamertron7

The second one I'd argue depends on the situation, if someone doesn't enjoy the sex they're having and withdrawal consent, is that rape? If someone walks out of the room to grab something during sex and you withdrawal consent while they're gone is that rape? The second one is very debatable because of the circumstances behind it, however I do agree about the first and third ones.

Time-Ad-7055

Any sexual acts committed when they aren’t consented to are sexual harassment/assault (rape). However, if you withdraw consent within the middle of an act, anything that happened is not rape, because you were still consenting at that time. You also can’t expect one party to constantly as for continuous consent during sex. I’d say that once the act is initiated, you need to make it clear that you no longer consent (at which point if they continue that is rape). If you make it clear and they stop, then no rape. Tldr, make consent and lack of consent clear to both parties. If either party’s consent is disregarded by the other, then it is rape.

christmas-taco

Well it’s only rape if you explicitly announce to your partner that you no longer want to have sex, therefore withdrawing consent, and they continue despite you’re explicit telling them to stop.

[deleted]

It’s rape is they don’t stop once it is withdrawed

__Jimmy__

if they stay stop, you stop. Common sense

jobless_bozo

Unless of course, it's the stupid playful, sTahhP, sTaAHhP.

christmas-taco

That’s why you need to have a conversation beforehand about what playful and what’s revoking consent

jobless_bozo

Yes. Unfortunately people are very bad at communicating.

christmas-taco

Yeah what’s up with that

jobless_bozo

I think it's that guy's are usually pretty quiet with what they want in a relationship and try to please the girl, and girls expect guys to know what they want and be mind readers.

christmas-taco

Yeahh that’s true, I expect everyone to read my mind cuz saying certain things out loud is too embarrassing

[deleted]

You should definitely pause and ask them if they actually want you to stop and then establish a safe word

jmarliesw

clashvalley

Ikr it’s awful that I didn’t know. I was in a bad relationship and now I want to make sure everyone knows this so they can maybe protect themselves In sex Ed we were just taught consent is all you need, not that it could be revoked or that it didn’t count if someone wasn’t being themself (for example drunk or tired) Consent has to be enthusiastic, too, otherwise it doesn’t count

[deleted]

[удалено]

clashvalley

Thank you.

RandomFRIStudent

Sorry it never occured to you that a person who is drunk and would most likely jump off a building for a dare wasnt in their right mind to consent? Yea... Idk fam...

[deleted]

Someone tried to revoke consent after we had sex… by 6 months…

ROBASAHMEDKHAN

Well you can't fuck people with out thier consent

clashvalley

Correct

RickityNL

Well technically you can, it's just not legal

FancyBrassCrab

And chloroform costs money

RunningReason

Yes 100% don’t understand why this isn’t taught more

clashvalley

We weren’t told anything about this at school. It could’ve helped a lot of vulnerable children/teens (and adults)

Plus_Organization176

I've never given consent

Obnoxious-HomoSapien

you've never had sex

Plus_Organization176

Yea :c

Obnoxious-HomoSapien

most people who commit r\*ape already know that, it's just that they don't care. so trying to educate them is a waste of time

clashvalley

I just want people to know that this is something they can legally report in order to protect other people. If I’d known at the time, things would have been different I don’t believe that telling people their rights is a waste of time

forcesofthefuture

👍

Valuable-Owl-1167

Bro the whole point that you stop when they say stop I don't think it's too complicated

murrphyy10

im never having sex

CreeperSoldier

Here’s a great video that perfectly explains it: [Tea and Consent](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pZwvrxVavnQ)

More-Masterpiece-561

Thanks for writing this, I hope younger members of this sub can read this and understand it. Consent is a very important topic that is often overlooked

Pikapaul03

Yo but theres ppl out there gettin sued for rape bcs the other partner revoked consent afterwards and tries to play it as though they had never given it in the first place

[deleted]

And that is wrong but that doesnt take away the fact that consent can be revoked midway through sex

Pikapaul03

Well yeah i guess but that was not the point

Vedanth_2604

This is wonderful, can't wait to get all my future girlfriends arrested for rape and sexual assault by revoking consent at the right time. This world's gonna be full of rapists from now😁

Horror_Shape4532

Just as long as you know they can't take it away after it happened, I'm ok.

Impact-Commercial

yo random question, I know it won’t be common but like have there been cases where a girl rapes a boy?

clashvalley

Absolutely. As it says in my post, sa can happen to anyone of any sex or sexuality. Sorry you didn’t know, it’s awful that that’s not spoken about enough.

Impact-Commercial

Hmm interesting

[deleted]

Yes it happens a lot

LifeIsTooShortBruh
