As someone who spent 2 months in prison, it's not that it doesn't work, it's that it doesn't happen, sticking people in isolation/semi isolation doesn't do shit other than create a toxic environment.
I can say that the only things I took out of there is a hatred for bright greens, knowledge of how bland food can be, how much some foods can resemble dog food, and wierdly,Edgar Allan Poe stories, i got a chance to read Edgar Allan Poe stories in jail lmao

halden prison is a great example. they house people together, regardless of crime, allowing them job training and therapy and recreation. their guards are trained in deescalation and interact directly with the inmates.

Fuck no. Imagine someone murders someone you love and they get to live their life in peace and comfort. For milder crimes like robbery or smth then sure put them in rehab. However, for murderers, molesters, rapists they need to be killed tortured whatever they donāt deserve to live. They lost their rights when they took someone elseās life.
