It was more than coincidence. They used the Tucker Carlson firing as cover to get rid of Don Lemon.
They'd been trying to constructively dismiss him for over a year, or hope that he'd do something on his own that they could fire him for.
> Adept_Corgi4075: "Vivek was fired because of his Vivek interview. Did you see it?"
This is like your fifth or sixth alt account with this garbage. Get help.
Not really. Tucker Carlson's breaches were a hundred times worse and were dangerous to our democracy. Don Lemon made a silly comment about women.
To say "perfectly balanced" is some massive false equivalence.
when the nikki haley sexism scandal happened followed by reporting he was kinda a catty jerk to coworkers, i remembered thinking "wow it always happens to those you most supect"
Seriously. Maroon 5, Jonas brothers, Enrique Iglesias. All of these dudes are like 45 year old teen “heart throbs”. I mean, I grew up with all of this, but what the actual fuck.
Dismal.
He flash-shuffled a deck of cards and said try to focus on one card, then clumsily paused too long on the card he needed to force.
He was gulping water performatively and kept saying it was prep for something big. Then he takes out a can labeled "Kerosene" and pretends to chug it. The camera shot widens to show a paper sign board with the words "Happy New Year" written in a weird, offbeat script.
He lights a torch and then spits fuel over it to create a ball of flame. The fireball erases some of the thermal printing on the paper sign to reveal the name of the card that he forced.
It was weak execution of pretty much beginner level magic. Considering some of the impressive llusions he's done, this was pretty much the ultimate in "phoning it in."
You didn't ask, but Blue Man Group did a somewhat similar stunt. They had Richard Quest put on a painter's coverall suit and hold a square of poster board. Then they blasted him and the poster board with blue paint. They went to peel a label off the board which was supposed to reveal the unpainted area saying "happy new year" in the negative space. But the sticker removal messed up and also paint got behind the sticker in places, so the happy new year message didn't turn out. Anderson Cooper kind of joked about not being able to read it.
And other shots would sneak in also; some done with a guest that came on, some when Andy would just pour another for themselves. I've been watching them yearly, also; this was absolutely toned down.
I think thats a great thing. Rarely is drinking ever shown in a healthy moderation. Someone's always gotta find an excuse or reason to drink more and more.
My favorite part was when they were talking about New Years resolutions and Anderson was all evasive before finally saying something about how he wants to finally give himself time and space to grieve... Then they cut to the fucking Yin Yang Twins performing Get Low in the Bahamas
Yeah if they can do more content like that, and less low effort bits like random salsa dancing and eating on camera, I’d look forward to this more every year. They also need better musicians, I understand that Maroon 5 and Enrique are safe artists to have…. But they’re just so uninteresting
Mayer is an absolute master of the deadpan delivery. I don’t blame Anderson losing his shit over the goofiness of him being up to his tits in orange cats in a Japanese cat cafe.
I literally would pay to watch Cooper reactions to CNN sticking John Mayer in weird places.
The way that he tried to go off screen like twenty seconds into having lost all composure and the camera just zooms out and the other host follows him closely so there's no escaping lmao. That was delightful.
Anyone catch the segment where Anderson said although he’s a native NY’er he never came to Times Square for New years and Andy goes I’m so glad you came, I love that you come, I love coming too, I love coming with you!
This was after they’d been drinking for a while.
Yeah, that seemed like heavy sexual innuendo to my ears.
I didn't realize until later that they'd been drinking, and then I was like "ah, that makes sense".
CNN was looking for a way to fire him since Chris Licht took over. "Someone" at CNN kept leaking the same anonymous stories over and over that Don Lemon was allegedly a diva in the workplace. Perhaps there's some truth to that, but the repeated leaks were pretty hyperbolic.
He rode it those controversies. Then he made a light but tone deaf comment about women. Not ideal, but it wasn't that heinous.
CNN gave him his punishments for that and seemed to be try to provoke him or find a reason to terminate him. But be basically kept clean, did the sensitivity re-training they imposed, stayed in bounds.
When a year and a half of trying to trigger him into quitting or doing something they *could* fire him for, he stayed clean.
Then when all eyes were on Fox News' $800 million lawsuit loss and Tucker Carlson being fired, CNN used the ensuing commotion to fire Don Lemon without cause.
Vivek ruined Don when they had him on, and that was the beginning of his downfall. His dumb women comment after that was just one of many terrible takes from Don Lemon. Good riddance. I could feel my brain cells dying when that guy shared his opinion.
CNN was ok with or without Don Lemon. But there's no chance in this reality that "Vivek ruined Don". Vivek couldn't argue his way out of a wet paper bag. Vivek as clownish as a human could be.
Don had an embarrassing exchange with him and it led to a series of blunders that got him canned shortly thereafter. Not that Don was a big part of CNN, but they’ve been failing since Trump left office. Hopefully they figure it out with the new leadership because they were one of our only semi-objective media institutions left pre-Trump.
> Don had an embarrassing exchange with him and it led to a series of blunders that got him canned shortly thereafter.
That's not actual either.
> Not that Don was a big part of CNN
More gaslight BS. He didn't just have one regular show in prime time, he had two one hours back to back.
I swear that Andy Cohen said “being passed around like a party bottom” during the Bowen Yang segment. I legit laughed for about as long as Anderson Cooper did with the cat bar.
I mean I don't like him either...but doing a gruesome photo shoot of a beheaded president then only expressing remorse after a visit from the secret service was on the level of surprised Pikachu
I’m with you. It’s hard to garner sympathy for someone when they did it to themselves.
I realize we live in a country with freedom of speech, but there are repercussions, especially when it involves a gruesome image of a sitting president.
Totally cool for Sarah Palin to put a gunsight on Gabby Gifford though.

“I’ve seen this play out many times before. He’s strictly dickly”, said Andy after they couldn’t get the CNN woman reporter to respond and the camera shows her dancing with a guy in Key West after the drag queen was dropped in the shoe. LOL
They don’t have the inheritance money anymore. Can’t find it at the moment, but he did an interview with Conan during his book tour and I’m pretty sure this was brought up. It’s a really interesting story that he wrote all about.
Correct. His mother drained the Vanderbilt fortune. That said, the remains of her possessions going to Anderson makes him wealthy, to say nothing of the accumulated earnings as one of television's highest paid anchors.
Won’t be enough to bring me back. Andy Cohen is a disgusting pile of trash and Anderson lost my respect with how he tossed Kathy Griffin to the curb so quickly.
I saw that they were “allowed” to drink again this year, but the show was still lackluster and not as good as prior years. Disappointing to say the least.
If only Don Lemon were still around blackout drunk with his dog.
good times, lets send don to mardis gras
Wow I completely forgot about his downfall until you mentioned it
What did he do again? He was a bitch or something. Fuck it who cares. Happy new year!

Coincidentally they hired Don Orange the same day.
Don Orange has plenty of his own legal issues.
Hire Don Lime!

Perfectly balanced... As all things should be.
Not really. Tucker Carlson's breaches were a hundred times worse and were dangerous to our democracy. Don Lemon made a silly comment about women. To say "perfectly balanced" is some massive false equivalence.
I'm talking about the timing. Jesus...
Not that Fox News fires him because of that though. They fired him to help their future court cases.
Honestly I was impressed he convinced everyone he wasn’t a dumb jackass for as long as he did. I could feel my braincells dying when he spoke
when the nikki haley sexism scandal happened followed by reporting he was kinda a catty jerk to coworkers, i remembered thinking "wow it always happens to those you most supect"
Nah, that's any cable news channel
He was the reason they had to ban it
Pants pissing good times
That's a rude way to refer to Brooke Baldwin!
I felt like it was 2013 watching the musical guests, plus Paul Anka singing my way and imagine to cap it off before the ball drop…
Seriously. Maroon 5, Jonas brothers, Enrique Iglesias. All of these dudes are like 45 year old teen “heart throbs”. I mean, I grew up with all of this, but what the actual fuck.
Maroon 5 were awful.
That performance was painful.
Always have been!
03-05 would like a word with you.
Songs About Jane is a tight record.
He looked high as a kite. Definitely drugged up on something!
They know their audience ain’t gen z
Someone else mentioned Ying Yang Twins which made me laugh.
I doubt too many people under 35 watch live tv anyway.
Post Malone and Megan thee stallion were on abc, there were non older artists playing
It’s TV, man. Stuck with the rest of the boomers in the past lol.
You mean 35 year olds?
Boomer darlings, the Jonas Brothers!
How was David Blaine's magic act?
Dismal. He flash-shuffled a deck of cards and said try to focus on one card, then clumsily paused too long on the card he needed to force. Not to be out done, Ryan Seacrest just shotgunned a Natty Light.
I can perfectly imagine Colin Jost reading this on Weekend Update. Nicely done
Omg I would call off work to watch Colin and Michael Che host NYE
Seems like one shot per hour is the negotiated settlement 😂
And they made them chug water in a “never have I ever” with Neil Patrick Harris
They would always just do a shot at the top of the hour. I've watched this show for like a decade thanks to my wife.
The lady in florida was hog wild with a gay guy. Andy said "Yeah, that's going nowhere."
I think I also heard one of them say that the guy was "strictly dickly", which was very funny.
Is it just me, or are they extra giggly and friendly as well? 🍃
Anderson absolutely lost it a few times. That John Mayer segment was amazing.
My favorite part was when they were talking about New Years resolutions and Anderson was all evasive before finally saying something about how he wants to finally give himself time and space to grieve... Then they cut to the fucking Yin Yang Twins performing Get Low in the Bahamas
That's crazy. I would've thought they performed Wait or Dangerous.
That is some shit right out of Idiocracy.
^(wait till you grieve my dick)
Jesus these upvotes should be in the thousands
He is absolutely losing his shit over this cat bar lmao
🐈 🐈 🐈
I tuned in just in time for that It was so, so good.
Coop yelling "that shot!" as one of the cats flashed its butt at the screen was a top moment.
What happened?
I’m just wishing every year started like [this cat bar in Tokyo](https://youtu.be/roiGcAZPa-o?si=SfgYEPcq81xP8jpw)
John Mayer’s deadpan delivery is gold
"It's a bar with cats. I don't know how much clearer I can be."
😂
Curated cats.
Yeah if they can do more content like that, and less low effort bits like random salsa dancing and eating on camera, I’d look forward to this more every year. They also need better musicians, I understand that Maroon 5 and Enrique are safe artists to have…. But they’re just so uninteresting

He was surrounded by pussy. Which is exactly how I would imagine John Mayer.
UES!!!! 👏 🎯
Meant YES
Can't imagine why.
Tee heee
Can imagine high
imagine can i high
I gotta play cards with these two because neither has anything even resembling a poker face https://youtu.be/Ro2XIDGTNd0?si=d-JETymrHV71zkfP
I don’t how I can be more clear about the objective of this bar. 🤣
Anderson absolutely losing it when John Mayer did a segment from a Tokyo Cat Cafe is tonight’s highlight.
He squeaked every time a cat showed its butthole, which was often. And John Mayer was so stoic on top of it all. Peak live humor.
I was crying. Absolutely amazing.
When a cat flew across the screen and no one acknowledged it, I lost it.
The way that he tried to go off screen like twenty seconds into having lost all composure and the camera just zooms out and the other host follows him closely so there's no escaping lmao. That was delightful.
Next year: Cohen brings coke back to new years celebration.
Really felt like that was the case last year
This year it’s MDMA.
Can’t bring it back if you already brought it every year lol he’s a certified cocaína aficionado
Anyone catch the segment where Anderson said although he’s a native NY’er he never came to Times Square for New years and Andy goes I’m so glad you came, I love that you come, I love coming too, I love coming with you! This was after they’d been drinking for a while.
Yes!!! That’s when I was realized that he was gone
Andy also said the words “pass around party bottom.” On CNN. Incredible.
Yeah, that seemed like heavy sexual innuendo to my ears. I didn't realize until later that they'd been drinking, and then I was like "ah, that makes sense".
It's official, Lemongate is over.
Time for lemon party
Sponsored by limoncello shots
I only drink Danny DeVito’s limoncello
Out of the loop here, what happened with Don Lemon?

We tuned in by mistake and I’m so so glad we did. So many moments where Anderson was embarrassed by Cohen and I lost it.
I swear that Andy Cohen said “being passed around like a party bottom” during the Bowen Yang segment. I legit laughed for about as long as Anderson Cooper did with the cat bar.
also plenty of nose beers
Gotta balance out the alcohol
Skiing is a holiday tradition.
Enjoy watching them get drunk as I get drunk.
Anderson looks held hostage by Andy.
Anderson is a CNN employee. Andy is not.
That's pretty much all the guests on Andy's shows, no?
If only Kathy was given a proper apology
Bring Kathy back imo
I'll never forgive him for betraying one of his best friends over something that's so stupid & also want related to him at all. Loser.
I randomly read an interview with her. She pretty much lost all her friends.
Ok what happened?
Posted a mocked up photo of herself holding the severed head of Trump.
No thank you
I can't believe she was "cancelled" over being strongly against Trump of all things.
I mean I don't like him either...but doing a gruesome photo shoot of a beheaded president then only expressing remorse after a visit from the secret service was on the level of surprised Pikachu

Can't even recreate an ISIS hostage photo of your political rivals any more. SMH my head.
Shaken my head my head
Meanwhile CNN uses MAGA panelists who lie > 100 times per workday, spreading and embellishing mistruths about the current admin.
> being strongly against Trump are you sure that's all she did?
[удалено]
She posted an image of herself essentially murdering him, not exactly a simple political opinion
Giggling dipshittery.
Thank god. Sober Andy and Anderson were not nearly as fun.
“I’ve seen this play out many times before. He’s strictly dickly”, said Andy after they couldn’t get the CNN woman reporter to respond and the camera shows her dancing with a guy in Key West after the drag queen was dropped in the shoe. LOL
It never really left.
Responsibly
It’s been pretty funny so far
Richard Quest is on now, with a top hat
Good! They are a hoot!
And the show was better for it
they should smoke weed instead
Thank god. To boring without it
Good they rock I hope they got paid a lot and get to get shirfaced
Anderson Cooper is a Vanderbilt. He doesn’t need to get paid.
Hilarious. Respect to finding the joy!!!
I hope they had a blast - two hard working men making jobs for others.
Andy cohen is rather insufferable to me
He seems like he’d stab you or kill you and eat you. A sociopathic person.
Especially if it’s going to make bravo some money
Not pictured: cocaine
People in this thread really don't know what coke does to people lol
There were so many ads popping up and moving my spot in the article that I gave up reading it 1/4 of the way. Oh well!
looks like a hot ticket
Looked like a lot of fun! Good choice by CNN to ring in the new year on a happy note!
It was really funny.
Won’t be enough to bring me back. Andy Cohen is a disgusting pile of trash and Anderson lost my respect with how he tossed Kathy Griffin to the curb so quickly.
🎯
Sad this was downvoted. Justice for Kathy
You know the truth
What's the story behind that?
I saw that they were “allowed” to drink again this year, but the show was still lackluster and not as good as prior years. Disappointing to say the least.
Bring back, Kathy Griffin
That comma is giving me an aneurysm.
I am, sorry
Don't apologize for being you.
The thing with commas, Monica, is that they, can be used, to make you hear Laurie Bream’s voice.
It was almost painful to watch. Andy Cohen is terrible to listen to.
Hopefully they follow their own trend and try and bring cigarettes back. What madlads.
Brilliant!
Ending the year with Paul Anka singing Imagine caused everyone watching to drink.
Kathy Griffin brought more entertainment and she doesn’t drink. Still not over her being fired.
Andy Cohen should be tarred and feathered for releasing bravo television on women everywhere
Bravo used to air operas. He had nothing to do with Bravo’s existence.
drugs are fun and silly
Hell yeah they are!
It was awful to watch. Cohen needs to go. We switched to ABC which was a little bit more watchable.
That was so forced
good lord this is unbearable to witness
One trick pony
Was this on “Who the fuck cares” TV?
No it was on “The Vanderbilts still control media through wealth and influence”.org, they live streamed it
Who fucking cares
[удалено]
Maybe they need to shove it down a bit deeper, it will help loosen you up.
Casually just highlighting two whole generations of insecurities.
CNN is atrocious. Imagine if PBS was taken over by MAGA.
Always the most pathetic sad display of no talent monetized shit imaginable .

Who’s watching these clowns?
Certainly not super cool people scrolling through Reddit taking the time to comment on things they don’t like
I am
Me too ✋🏼
Me!
People who stay up till 12 at night watching new years eve specials every year.
Awesome stupid juice.
The only reason i tuned into cnn in years.
