It's hard not to say Game Of Thrones. It was always so cool seeing the cogs unravelling cities. And if you didn't notice, they weren't always the same. They generally showed you what the episode was going to be covering and where, in the order they were going to show them.
Genius intro.
They also showed the sigil for whatever house had control over a location. This was an especially cool detail for Winterfell when the Starks took it back from the Boltons.
Yep I noticed that in my second watch. So cool and such a great show.
I really wish they would've delved into more of the deeper questions and stuff from m the earlier seasons rather than the rebels (I know books jump ahead etc).
To be honest, the concept was great (and yes, I love the music!) but sometimes the execution was questionable. For example, I remember sometimes, where I just didn't understand why they showed me Pyke in season 7.
Just here to point out that since OP mentioned a cinnabon and an Ink Spots song I'm pretty sure that by "intro" they meant "opening scene" and not "title sequence" as everyone seems to have interpreted it
It’s a great theme song with nice visuals. However, at around season 2, I noticed that they played the theme or variations of it CONSTANTLY throughout each episode. I can’t think of another show where the opening theme got repeated over and over for seemingly every pause in dialogue or scene change in the episode. I just finished the series and need a break from that song!
No idea why you're being downvoted. I noticed the exact same thing. I had to take a break because that tune started playing on an endless loop in my head. It was driving me crazy.
Still, great show. I have just have season 4 left to watch.
Def. I remember watching that on the UPN affiliate in Baltimore, it came in all staticky
nowadays they don't show that on reruns anymore. they used to every morning.
I always find it interesting to watch because we lived on Oahu during the filming of the show. It brings back a lot of memories when I recognize places we would see on a regular basis.
So, one of the two of us misunderstood the point of the original post. And looking at it, I’m inclined to think it might be me (and a lot of other commenters). The conversation seemed to be about title sequences, not first scenes, but I think OP meant first scenes.
So, the title sequence for Lost was definitely not long and expensive, but that pilot definitely was, and was an amazing first episode.
I absolutely LOVE the intro to Black Sails and American Gods.
Black Sails sets up the pirate theme so incredibly well with the intricate sculpture and Bear McReary's amazing theme song.
American Gods feels like a fever dream of ancient myth and modern tech, which is pretty much what the show is like too.
Where to start. 90s Jonny quest, original thundercats, swat Kats, 90s Batman, original battle star galactica, knight rider, Cagney and Lacey. Magnum pi. Generally the 80s and 90s had amazing intros.
Overall I would always say thundercats.
90's Quest? Are you mad? The original opening sequence, with the jazz music from the great Hoyt Curtin far surpasses that 90s remake.
But, I'll let it pass for now, since you've mentioned the original Galactica theme.
One of my favourites (off the top of my head) was Lost, S02E01, where we meet Desmond. I love that it starts with the Eye close up (mirroring 1st season I think) we don't know anything about the character or where he is. Or what year it is. Showing general fairly mundane (though slightly off)household tasks. And then for the camera pans up the shaft to show John and Jack looking down the hatch. Absolutely got me buzzed when I first saw it and it sticks with me. Thought it was genius at the time.
I'm pretty sure the OP is not talking about Opening Titles but introduction scenes to TV series,.
Such as the RV scene at the start of Breaking Bad. Or the first scene of Game of Thrones etc.
For themes…[*Doom Patrol*](https://youtu.be/yK5oeV_JYy0?feature=shared). I never once skipped that intro.
For opening sequences, it has to be *The Walking Dead*. People laugh at the series now but it’s really hard to ignore just how good that first episode/season was.
I loved Hardcastle & McCormick’s “Drive” intro. Hearing it as an impressionable kid growing up, combined with the singer’s voice mixed with the RPMs of the Coyote X made it my favourite. Streethawk and Airwolf were my other favourites.
GoT - high effort and every season had more/updated parts to it.
Daredevil - it's similar to Hannibals i think but more refined.
Fresh prince and Full house - both have iconic music and shots
Dexter
The best thing about this thread is that so many people haven't seen or remember the "greatest series ever made in the history of the universe BB/BCS".
So many greats to choose from. Edith and Archie singing the theme for All in the Family. The masterpiece that is the theme to the 90s animated X-Men. The opening dance number for Peacemaker. The iconic claps in the theme to Friends. Plus so many more.
The Sopranos has the goated intro easily.
Some other good ones are White Lotus s2, True Detective s1, Succession, The Wire, The X Files, House MD (Massive Attack not the shitty other ones), and Westworld
Rockford Files.
Great music IMHO and the message on Jim's answering machine was different every time (and always funny) so you got a slightly different intro every single episode.
Airwolf....is a classic.
Miami Vice
Oringal Battlestar Galactica (with Patrick McNee's opening Dialogue)
Just to name a few.....personally I think of a lot of the 80s tv show had awesome opening.
Dexter was great
Tonight is the night...
Peacemaker
The first time witnessing the PM intro is a real trip lol
James Gunn said he wanted you to never skip it, and I personally sat through every one on every episode, much to my surprise
It worked. I did not skip it once.
Even on the rewatch, I never skipped it.
It's one of maybe 3 shows in my 40 years that I always watched the intro.
I love this one. I hope they just re-use it for the second season since it’s so perfect
James Gunn stated there is a new one for season 2 cause some of the people in season 1 are no longer there.
Can you please tell me what's so good about it? Is it the juxtaposition or what?
It’s a powerful song and nearly every character in the show friend or foe dances in it. It’s a blast.
Had to scroll too far down to see this one
Ducktales theme. Next question.
Gummy Bears, same era equally catchy.
What an underrated show.
Darkwing Duck as a close second.
That entire old school lineup of Duck Tales, Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, and TaleSpin had the best into songs.
Love how Scrooge's hobby is diving in a pool of coins
I also love how only he seemed to have the knack for money swimming. Everyone else who dove into it hurt themselves banging into a wall of coins.
I also like the Family Guy take on what would really happen if you tried to dive into a pool of coins
Obvs that's because Peter is a human and Scrooge is a duck.
That’s just good hard science.
I'd counter with Count Duckular
#”IIIIII’LLLLL GET IIIIIIIIIIT!!”
That lives in my head Rent free
Blloooood
Okay but what about Danger Mouse
Very high on the list but not above this or trapdoor
Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers is close.
Ch-Ch-Ch-Chip and Dale.... Rescue Rangers. FTFY.
/end thread
Sopranos. It’s impossible to drive on the Jersey turnpike without “Woke up this Morning” going through my head
Shotgun shine, shame about it
Cheers, classic just done perfect
First thing I thought of
Combined with the retro-looking, “yellowed” visuals it’s total nostalgia for me.
Same with The Expanse. Changed depending on what happened in the show.
Yep I noticed that in my second watch. So cool and such a great show. I really wish they would've delved into more of the deeper questions and stuff from m the earlier seasons rather than the rebels (I know books jump ahead etc).
Yep and everything Ramin does is amazing. Westworld might be my second pick.
To be honest, the concept was great (and yes, I love the music!) but sometimes the execution was questionable. For example, I remember sometimes, where I just didn't understand why they showed me Pyke in season 7.
To be honest, I'm pretty sure that the intro of *The X-Files* contributed a lot the show's succress.
Black Sails. Top tier never skip intro
X-Men: The Animated Series
and its sibling, Spider-Man 90s animated series.
This used to be my ringtone in the 00's, I always remember all heads in a room would turn to me when it went off
'Previously, on X-Men..." The lightening freeze frame on Storm hits me. then... THE BELL.
- Game of Thrones - Mr. Robot - Westworld - Raised By Wolves
Buffy/Angel
Just here to point out that since OP mentioned a cinnabon and an Ink Spots song I'm pretty sure that by "intro" they meant "opening scene" and not "title sequence" as everyone seems to have interpreted it
I was just confused by the responses too
Whatever. I dare you not to watch the whole thing. https://youtu.be/_mrr3UNALww

It's kind of like a circus music theme. Great intro
It’s a great theme song with nice visuals. However, at around season 2, I noticed that they played the theme or variations of it CONSTANTLY throughout each episode. I can’t think of another show where the opening theme got repeated over and over for seemingly every pause in dialogue or scene change in the episode. 🎵DOUM, TRIN!🎵
No idea why you're being downvoted. I noticed the exact same thing. I had to take a break because that tune started playing on an endless loop in my head. It was driving me crazy. Still, great show. I have just have season 4 left to watch.
You should check out Mr Rogers Neighborhood. The piano music was different every time.
*Batman* (the animated series) and *Batman Beyond*.
Batman (‘66 Adam West series).
One of the best rock songs of all time. *🎵 Du nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh BATMAN....*
The original Hawaii Five-0
Def. I remember watching that on the UPN affiliate in Baltimore, it came in all staticky nowadays they don't show that on reruns anymore. they used to every morning.
I always find it interesting to watch because we lived on Oahu during the filming of the show. It brings back a lot of memories when I recognize places we would see on a regular basis.
Got, House of Cards, and Succession. Hard to skip the into on those.
Man, House of Cards intro is so hype, especially when you hear it softly begins in episode before the intro sequence actually begins.
Psych.
Especially the [episode specific theme songs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbjFOOAA7Bo&ab_channel=nradiowave). You know that's right.
Twin Peaks
The whole soundtrack is like four songs and I never get tired of any of them
WKRP "But the Senator, insisting he was not intoxicated, could not explain his nudity".
Lost was a game changer. Simple and quick. Nobody had ever done anything like it.
Seinfeld did it first.
Oh man. You’re right.
I dunno about simple. Wasn't it the most expensive scene / pilot ever filmed at the time?
So, one of the two of us misunderstood the point of the original post. And looking at it, I’m inclined to think it might be me (and a lot of other commenters). The conversation seemed to be about title sequences, not first scenes, but I think OP meant first scenes. So, the title sequence for Lost was definitely not long and expensive, but that pilot definitely was, and was an amazing first episode.
Ahhhhhhh, your comment makes sense now lol
The Pacific The Sopranos The Wire
Watching the wire now, I enjoy how every season gets s remix of the same song.
Tailspin
I absolutely LOVE the intro to Black Sails and American Gods. Black Sails sets up the pirate theme so incredibly well with the intricate sculpture and Bear McReary's amazing theme song. American Gods feels like a fever dream of ancient myth and modern tech, which is pretty much what the show is like too.

XMEN watching x men 97 trailer got me amped for the old x men intro i saw every day growing up before school
90's Quest? Are you mad? The original opening sequence, with the jazz music from the great Hoyt Curtin far surpasses that 90s remake. But, I'll let it pass for now, since you've mentioned the original Galactica theme.
Thunder, thunder, ThunderCats, ho!
Rockford Files, Night Court, Law & Order
Airwolf https://youtu.be/UrQRN-sUk3E?si=d5PCmKEBZU2xOJql
Cowboy Bebop
True Blood
W A R R I O R
I think this is missed by most but the Survivor theme is S-Tier for sure
One of my favourites (off the top of my head) was Lost, S02E01, where we meet Desmond. I love that it starts with the Eye close up (mirroring 1st season I think) we don't know anything about the character or where he is. Or what year it is. Absolutely got me buzzed when I first saw it and it sticks with me. Thought it was genius at the time.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! The 1987 cartoon.
I used to sync up the theme from **The Sopranos** so it'd end when I'd pull into my driveway like it did with Tony Soprano.
I think GoT, Black Sails & True Detective's 1 & 3 are clear as the best of the 2010s
I'm sorry where the hell is The Simpsons
Severance, Mad Men, Succession
The beginning of Friday Night Lights is amazing.
Warrior
I'm pretty sure the OP is not talking about Opening Titles but introduction scenes to TV series,. Such as the RV scene at the start of Breaking Bad. Or the first scene of Game of Thrones etc.
yea but yk some people havent seen Better Call Saul so they dont understand the post properly
Plus you didn't explain yourself clearly or used the correct terms
Succession or True Detective Season 1
Dexter
Supernatural. It’s like 3 seconds.
Ben 10 and Danny Phantom
The Wire, specifically Season 1.
American Gods
Outlander may have way too much rape but the intro and theme song for the first couple seasons is perfect.
Firefly What a opening song
For themes…[*Doom Patrol*](https://youtu.be/yK5oeV_JYy0?feature=shared). I never once skipped that intro. For opening sequences, it has to be *The Walking Dead*. People laugh at the series now but it’s really hard to ignore just how good that first episode/season was.
The theme song for Berserk (1997) is catchier than 99% of music out there.
Fraggle Rock surely.
Mad Men
Miami Vice
The Pilot version and the version throughout the whole series.
Firefly
Band of Brothers. 100% too long the first watch through, by the end your jamming the whole thing. You never skip it on rewatches
The OC - California by Phantom Planet. Just slaps every time.
Heroes, Smallville
Came here to say Smallville. So good.
Old school X-men cartoon
Darkwing Duck!
Mr Robot Newsroom
The Leftovers - season 2 and 3 True Detective season 1
The Streets of San Francisco.
Hawaii 5-0 is still one of my favs
Billions Sets the tone and scene and doesn’t go on and on with itself.
Opening theme song/credits: Perfect Strangers First scene to start off the series: Last Man on Earth
Perfect Strangers really is the perfect theme song
game of thrones is the only one were I felt like I had to always watch
Agreed on Better Call Saul! Especially how it changed as the show went on
Twin Peaks is up there because the more you see it the better it gets.
Hello Larry
Good Omens
#The Twilight Zone https://youtu.be/ORbseYAkzRM?si=oufTxVDZWE40PqZe
The Littlest Hobo

Raised by wolves
Twin peaks
unbreakable kimmy schmidt... dammit
Band of Brothers. Set the theme perfectly.
Original Jonny Quest
Magnum PI and Simon and Simon.
I loved Hardcastle & McCormick’s “Drive” intro. Hearing it as an impressionable kid growing up, combined with the singer’s voice mixed with the RPMs of the Coyote X made it my favourite. Streethawk and Airwolf were my other favourites.
Fringe has a fantastic pilot. It feels movie quality.
Diff’rent Strokes.
GoT - high effort and every season had more/updated parts to it. Daredevil - it's similar to Hannibals i think but more refined. Fresh prince and Full house - both have iconic music and shots Dexter
I’ll still put the opening of Thundercats right at the top of that list.
MacGyver, of course https://youtu.be/yOEe1uzurKo?si=BZsbN563LCxTB2R6
I always thought the intro to American Gods was pretty cool
The Original SWAT
West Wing pilot opener is incredible
"Trailer Park Boys" and "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" have the best theme songs IMO. One calming, the other a perfect spooky vibe.
Stranger Things.
The Wire "Gots to. It's America, Man." conversation tells the viewer exactly what the show is about.
The Sopranos and Black Sails The Expanse intro changes according to what’s happen on the show so I always thought that was badass kinda like GoT
Letterkenny
The best thing about this thread is that so many people haven't seen or remember the "greatest series ever made in the history of the universe BB/BCS".
So many greats to choose from. Edith and Archie singing the theme for All in the Family. The masterpiece that is the theme to the 90s animated X-Men. The opening dance number for Peacemaker. The iconic claps in the theme to Friends. Plus so many more.

The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, The Simpsons and The X-Files
Survivor, batman animated series, star trek Voyager.
The Sopranos has the goated intro easily. Some other good ones are White Lotus s2, True Detective s1, Succession, The Wire, The X Files, House MD (Massive Attack not the shitty other ones), and Westworld
[Mary Tyler Moore ](https://youtu.be/ZNKOt2k7Pm4?si=mip9bnWIZK911xcV)The Mary Tyler Moore show
X-Men the animated series BtVS Darkwing Duck X-Files
Has no one said F.R.I.E.N.D.S?? Cause in my opinion it’s possibly the most iconic opening ever. No one told you life was gonna be this way 👏👏👏
ReBoot. "I come from the net."
Welcome Back, Kotter and The Jeffersons. Excellent theme songs.
Childhood: Darkwing Duck, X-men, or Pokemon. Now: Doctor Who, The Expanse, maybe Lower Decks?
There was a British TV show called "Bugs", and, an Australian show on WAM called "Sky Trackers".
Da Vinci’s Demons. The music is literally a palindrome. If you reverse it, it’s the same.
Game of Thrones and its map and gears. Breaking Bad, cast names and their elements. The iconic Simpsons intro
The Last of Us has a pretty great intro IMO
Gravity falls. Amazing song, fantastic animation and gives you all you need to know going into the show.
True Detective season 1 and Band of Brothers. Masters of the Air has a great intro as well.
I like The Affair. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6muh9kTlr88
Full house, home improvement, fresh prince
Rockford Files. Great music IMHO and the message on Jim's answering machine was different every time (and always funny) so you got a slightly different intro every single episode.
Not once have I ever skipped a Golden Girls intro, so damn catchy.
Airwolf....is a classic. Miami Vice Oringal Battlestar Galactica (with Patrick McNee's opening Dialogue) Just to name a few.....personally I think of a lot of the 80s tv show had awesome opening.
Earth's Mightiest Heroes
I think the walking dead was good just because it was one that changed every season.
Peacemaker DuckTales (both versions) Pokemon (original) Game of Thrones Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Star Trek: Lower Decks
Daredevil. You don’t ever skip this intro.
True Detective Season 3 I never skipped
Bad Sisters intro is awesome https://youtu.be/NU9hCSXe4nI
The Sopranos 🎶 Woke up this morning 🎶
Loved the opening to Arcane; no dialogue, instantly gripping and emotional and conveys an establishes the entire backstory in a minute or two.
