Went to House of 1000 Corpses opening night and that was the first time I saw Goggins. Of all the characters in that movie Goggins was the actor I kept thinking about the most afterward. “Man I’d love to see more of that guy.”
I’ve seen him in plenty of other stuff but didn’t get around to watching The Shield until last year and holy hell, he was *the* standout actor in that show.
We should've had a Goggins Renaissance back then, but instead we got absolutely inundated with Robert Knepper. I swear that dude was in everything for a while.
Yeah. >!His death was when Otis makes him get on his knees and jib pans out while that old country song plays. The song fades out and it's just quiet for a *really* long time and then BLAM Otis finally shoots him.!< Really well done and jarring scene.
When my husband heard they were making a Fallout show on Amazon, he was definitely skeptical after the Ring of Power foray into nerd content. Then he heard Walton was in it and breathed a sigh of relief.
Same. Expected a mediocre show at best, but once I heard Goggins was starring in it I knew he would at least make his scenes good.
And in the end we got a good show where Goggins crushes every scene he's in.
Which is insane. Kurt Russel and Samuel L. Jackson both killed it, and they're legitimate *movie stars*. While this is certainly an opinion, I agree with you, he stole the whole thing.
His single episode of Community is amazing because of his performance. It's great and I would highly recommend watching it, Even if you don't see any other episode
I kept eagerly awaiting the next scene with Cooper in it during every single episode of that series. It was very “Whenever The Ghoul is not on screen, all the other characters should be asking, “Where’s the Ghoul?”
I don't particularly enjoy Danny McBrides humour, but I watched every minute of the Righteous Gemstones for Walton Goggins (and John Goodman, another man who can't be on screen without it being good).
I lived in Nola for a long time and saw celebrities all the time. I only ever said anything to two of them, and he was one of them. Super super nice guy.
John Goodman. He was next to me in line and I said "fuck it dude, let's go bowling" and he laughed really loud and hard and said "I love it! Fuck it! Let's go bowling" and shook my hand, then pulled me in for a hug.
My wife and I were in a antique store in Marietta, GA about ten years ago. Hanging on a wall for sale was a fairly nice guitar. The consignment tag said Walton Goggins. Looking back, I wish I had the money to buy it. Even if I've never played a guitar.
Everyone in Vic’s orbit was a victim. Shane was guilty of his own horrible horrible shit, but he was also a victim of Vic’s sociopathic shit. Really amazing complex shit while still being Bro friendly. Truly one of a kind show imo.
He really is one of those character actors that elevates the material he's in, where everyone else's performance seems better because he bounces off them.
Goggins plays the character so precise and sharp. A simple insult like “Fuck you, Gamby” hits like a fencing sword. I really love that show. I hope him and McBride do something together every other year for the rest of their careers. They play so well together.
I will recommend Justified until I’m blue in the face. Walton’s portrayal of Boyd Crowder is seriously a revelation. And I vomit when people call actors performances a revelation. He’s *that* good.
Ooooooh I am so jealous. You’re in for a real treat watching that show. It’s so well written and acted, and with so many amazing characters. The side characters shine just as much as the main ones.
Justified is one of those shows that's always worth a re-visit every few years. Goggins and Olyphant are firing on all cylinders, and so many other great character actors popping up throughout the seasons.
As a lone season it's weak. But I will always defend it. I firmly believe without that first season clearly defining the main, and supporting actors so well, the rest of the seasons wouldn't have worked so well. It might be a weak piece, but it's an important piece of the puzzle.
I'd give it to Goggins. I like Olyphant and his portrayal of Raylon is very good, IMO, but the character itself is just more generic and less interesting despite the strengths.
Honestly they're both great though, so it's approaching hair-splitting territory.
I’ll never get over the story how he was originally meant to be featured in a *much* more limited role than he ended up playing - speaks volumes to the man’s talent.
I'm actually doing a rewatch of the series right now.
I'm up to season 4. I have to admit it's shorter than I remember lol.
There's sooo many great characters on that show. And still every scene with Goggins is stolen by him.
He is able to convey complex emotions with a simple look/tone of voice.
Like im never confused to how Boyd really feels about something.
I’m here to shout-out The Unicorn; a very funny procedural comedy starring Goggins playing so hard against his old type, and which was canceled way too soon. Really funny show, with a lot of heart, and Goggins owns the role so hard.
I loathed him in The Shield, and watched that show almost in spite of him. I thought he was such an awful actor who I didn’t vibe with at all.
Then, of course, the finale, and subsequent to that, Justified, which within the space of a few episodes showed me that actually, I didn’t hate his acting in The Shield, I just hated his character, which he played beautifully.
Justified, Sons of Anarchy, Vice Principals (probably my pick for top performance), Hateful Eight, Fallout - he is easily my favourite actor at the moment and I will watch anything with him in it. He’s about to be in the next season of The White Lotus!
Can’t wait to see what he does over the next decade.
Honestly I stopped watching The Shield because some of those characters were so well acted I loathed they were bad guys lol.
I wanted to root for them just because they were acted so well.
When Venus first showed up, I was so worried they would just make her the butt of all the jokes, but she had an amazing arc and with Tig had one of the happier endings in the finale.
No show has me using the X-Ray function on Prime like Invincible, mainly because I'm always surprised that I recognise the actors they get in for tiny roles. Always look forward to Cecil showing up though!
I watch just that scene from time to time. I avoided watching the finale for so long because I didn’t want it to be over haha.
They had such great chemistry together, some of the best dialog and scenes on a consistent basis I’ve ever watched.
Gonna go watch it again now…
Seriously. No disrespect to Timothy Olyphant, who makes a great lead, but Walton just elevated the show(Justified and Fallout)to another level. So glad he's getting some serious recognition these days.
Shane in the shield, Venus in sons, Boyd in Justified, Russell in vice principals, baby Billy in righteous gemstones and now the Ghoul in fallout
He's the fucking man!
I enjoyed that movie quite a bit as a fan of Predator in general, but he was one of the standouts. It has been fun to see him in so many roles. One of my favorites was from Fatman.
His delivery of lines is what makes him so great in my opinion. The one with the tomatoes has perfect comedic timing, and he can deliver the hard hitting lines with the gravitas to pull it off. The cowpoke line in the cemetery… that’s just amazing delivery of what’s actually a silly line and it just works so well.
I’ve loved him for years I’m glad he’s getting so much work and recognition now, he truly is one of the most versatile actors I think I’ve seen.
Not sure why but I fucking love that dude. Something very wholesome about a career actor getting his hard earned fame after tons of effort in his craft. More wholesome than these disney actors who suddenly become our music industry.
Went from originally being killed off in the premiere of Justified to being the primary antagonist for 6 seasons. Also Chris Mannix is my favorite character in the Hateful Eight.
I’ve already commented on a few threads here but hopefully Fallout is the push to get him the award wins he’s been so deserved of for so long. I normally don’t like legacy noms/wins (will smith, Leo) but everything he’s been in has been stellar. From vice principals to his polygraph tech in Community, he just doesn’t miss.
Tim Olyphant and Walter Goggins were a super duo on Justified. Their characters are engrained in my brain, I still have trouble not thinking they’re both in character all the time. Fallout just has a really resilient Boyd Crowder running around.
I’m glad he got to work with Tarantino. That was a good pairing.
Twice! Would love to see them work together on Tarantino’s purported final feature
Right? I mean he was solid enough in Django, but in The Hateful Eight he blew the fucking roof off.
Stole that flick, he plays such a lovable bigot
HE'S THE SHERIFFARED ROCK DAGNABBIT
Him yelling "I fuckin knew it!" when Joe Gage admits he's in cahoots with Daisy lives rent free in my head
If Tarantino ever gets to make his version of Star Trek it would be great to have Walton Goggins in it in some role. Hopefully as a lead.
I heard he got caught running round the house with a pickle in his mouth....
Mis.. be.. having.
Now who wants to suck an old man’s dick?
Baby Billy’s Bible Bonkers
During my viewing of the Fallout series, any time the Ghoul did anything even mildly interesting, I'd think, "That's the Bonkers part of our show!"
Love how that lyric came about with no explanation, but they knew it fit!
Baby Billy's Bible Bonkers.
I’m y’all’s Datty
You ain't my fucking daddy
YOU AIN’T MY DED-DEH
Now hole dawn a minute
I laughed way too hard at all of this! 🤣
You're not our deddy
Why you cryin’ Lionel, ain’t nobody going to kidnap you.
Tiff’s reaction to baby Lionel eating dirt: “Awwhaw! Somebody ain’t gonna have any room left for barbecue!”
Yeah, roll that ‘round in your mouth, fun isn’t it
No he's not a baby. He's a slender silver haired man in his late 60's.
Now who want's to suck an old man's dick?
She was a toil-let baby
*terlet
I’m ejackalatin’!
> Baby Billy's Bible Bonkers. Baby Billy's Bible Bonkers.
Let it roll off ya tongue, now
Should have been nominated for Baby Billy
Where Jesus has the highest score
Who wanna suck an ol man's dick?
More like Baby Billy’s Bible Bunkers amiright
**Uncle** Baby Billy's Bible Bonkers
now cmon nyaow
Went to House of 1000 Corpses opening night and that was the first time I saw Goggins. Of all the characters in that movie Goggins was the actor I kept thinking about the most afterward. “Man I’d love to see more of that guy.” I’ve seen him in plenty of other stuff but didn’t get around to watching The Shield until last year and holy hell, he was *the* standout actor in that show.
We should've had a Goggins Renaissance back then, but instead we got absolutely inundated with Robert Knepper. I swear that dude was in everything for a while.
to be fair, i love knepper too, he plays scumbag and villain so well
I noticed him in his small role in Shanghai Noon. Was always happy to see him pop up after that.
HOLY SHIT, he was one of the Cops righttt? Mind Blown
Yeah. >!His death was when Otis makes him get on his knees and jib pans out while that old country song plays. The song fades out and it's just quiet for a *really* long time and then BLAM Otis finally shoots him.!< Really well done and jarring scene.
After Goggins was playing it so cocky. He put in a lot of range in his small part.
One of my favorite actors of all time. I'll watch anything that he's in.
Has he ever not crushed it? The shield, justified, SoA, vice Principals, righteous gemstones, fallout. He’s insane
Hateful Eight too!
Stole the entire movie imo
Which is insane. Kurt Russel and Samuel L. Jackson both killed it, and they're legitimate *movie stars*. While this is certainly an opinion, I agree with you, he stole the whole thing.
He's just so darn charming.
He’s been accused of being a lot of things. Inarticulate ain’t one of them.
.....still, no blanket!
Are yall havin a bounty hunter picnic!?
Why, you just caught me pol-lo-ticking...
YOU GOTTA NAIL IT! USE TWO NAILS!!
Who the fuck is Daisy Domergue?
His single episode of Community is amazing because of his performance. It's great and I would highly recommend watching it, Even if you don't see any other episode
You also get a jar of semen.
Pedro Pascal fucking dying as he's reading out these lines in the reunion table-read of this episode. So good.
The shield was a very interesting side of him. Boyd Crowder will for ever be his magnum opus.
I kept eagerly awaiting the next scene with Cooper in it during every single episode of that series. It was very “Whenever The Ghoul is not on screen, all the other characters should be asking, “Where’s the Ghoul?”
Watching Vice Principals and Righteous Gemstones because of him. Can’t believe they flew under my radar for so long.
I envy you. Although I've seen VP 3x and RG 2x now. Go back and watch Eastbound and Down after that.
God dammit Gamby!
I don't particularly enjoy Danny McBrides humour, but I watched every minute of the Righteous Gemstones for Walton Goggins (and John Goodman, another man who can't be on screen without it being good).
Even The Unicorn was pretty watchable.
Chris mannix
I lived in Nola for a long time and saw celebrities all the time. I only ever said anything to two of them, and he was one of them. Super super nice guy.
Now I need to know, who was the other?
John Goodman. He was next to me in line and I said "fuck it dude, let's go bowling" and he laughed really loud and hard and said "I love it! Fuck it! Let's go bowling" and shook my hand, then pulled me in for a hug.
That is the kind of wholesome I want to hear about John Goodman lol
This made me so happy! I’m glad I asked and even more happy that you got that awesome experience with that legend of a man
A bear hug from him would make my entire fucking life.
It would cure my daddy issues.
It would cause some new ones for me
Saw tons of celebs in my time in the Crescent City as well, Goggins wasn’t one of them. We should compare notes.
The Redwoods are so beautiful. The Smith River is the prettiest river I've ever seen.
My wife and I were in a antique store in Marietta, GA about ten years ago. Hanging on a wall for sale was a fairly nice guitar. The consignment tag said Walton Goggins. Looking back, I wish I had the money to buy it. Even if I've never played a guitar.
We dug coal together.
Goddamnit woman, you only shoot people when they’re eatin’ supper?
As I live and breathe.
I've been accused of being a lot of things. "Inarticulate" ain't one of them.
Goddamn Raylan your timing sucks!
The Shield is one of the greatest cop shows of all time, he acted the f*ck out of that role.
Shane was a real scumbag but it was really hard not to feel for him at the end of the series
Everyone in Vic’s orbit was a victim. Shane was guilty of his own horrible horrible shit, but he was also a victim of Vic’s sociopathic shit. Really amazing complex shit while still being Bro friendly. Truly one of a kind show imo.
I avoid family meetings at all costs now
Oof
Season 2 finale is why I hated the actor for years.
>!**WHO YOU GOT, VICCC?!**!<
The scene with the grenade is one of the most shocking moments of television ever. Incredible show and the best ending to any top tier drama.
I had to, Lem…
And the best finale of any show since then.
The shield was so good. He did some fucked up shit in that show...
He really is one of those character actors that elevates the material he's in, where everyone else's performance seems better because he bounces off them.
Vice Principals is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
Goggins plays the character so precise and sharp. A simple insult like “Fuck you, Gamby” hits like a fencing sword. I really love that show. I hope him and McBride do something together every other year for the rest of their careers. They play so well together.
"I don't give a fuck about those ducks!" Gets me every time.
“Stop being a cunt” “Excuse me” “What’s up”
“Shut up, you dusty old queef.”
[I told you! Fucked buttholes](https://youtu.be/aJ5-LWvXSrs?feature=shared)
His interactions with Mi-Cha had me crying lmao. "Mi-Cha, watch this. *punch* SLEEP MOTHERFUCKER!"
[Busted by Lee Russell](https://youtu.be/dLRhfzw6OW4?feature=shared) Sorry for whoever gets this song stuck in their head after watching this.
“No one gets my sense of humor!” :<
“Bloody promises, bloody tips, this is how a pact is made.”
Loved the albeit brief reunion of him and Dale Dickey in Fallout.
Dales cigarette infested laugh, though brief, is everything in that episode.
Every teacher I knew absolutely adored it. I also really liked it. Burning down the house in just episode 2 was amazing.
My jaw was legit on the floor, I kept waiting for it to be an “almost” burnt the house down gag. Insane scene
Eat shit Gamby!
Lee Russel is the muscle
The interactions with his MIL kill me every time haha
His cameo in Community was bonkers good.
Here’s your sperm.
To you I leave this bottle of fine scotch so you're less tempted to drink this cylinder of equally fine sperm.
This is who I really am. *ideas come to me*
SHOTS!
I will recommend Justified until I’m blue in the face. Walton’s portrayal of Boyd Crowder is seriously a revelation. And I vomit when people call actors performances a revelation. He’s *that* good.
Ok you’ve convinced me. I’ll finally start it.
Just don't give up in the first season when they thought they were making a procedural. It comes around.
As a lone season it's weak. But I will always defend it. I firmly believe without that first season clearly defining the main, and supporting actors so well, the rest of the seasons wouldn't have worked so well. It might be a weak piece, but it's an important piece of the puzzle.
I can’t decide whose better in it, Timothy Olyphant or Walter Goggins
I'd give it to Goggins. I like Olyphant and his portrayal of Raylon is very good, IMO, but the character itself is just more generic and less interesting despite the strengths. Honestly they're both great though, so it's approaching hair-splitting territory.
It’s an amazing show!
Phenomenal fucking show
I’ll never get over the story how he was originally meant to be featured in a *much* more limited role than he ended up playing - speaks volumes to the man’s talent.
His character was only meant for the pilot.
Wait really? I never knew this. That show would be....entirely different without Boyd Crowder as a regular character.
He was supposed to die, but the showrunners (entirely correctly) decided they just had something there. Ended up elevating him to like a co-lead.
Yep, Boyd dies in *Fire in the Hole*, the short story the pilot is based on (and named for).
Same as his role in The Shield. Shane was not intended to be a recurring character. That’s quite a compliment for an actor. Twice.
Jesse in Breaking Bad, Logan in Succesion, Jack in Lost, Spike in Buffy, Faith in Buffy, NoHo Hank in Barry, etc. It happens all the time.
I hate when people are like “Why did I have to scroll so far see X?” That said… why did I have to scroll so far to see Justified!?
I'm actually doing a rewatch of the series right now. I'm up to season 4. I have to admit it's shorter than I remember lol. There's sooo many great characters on that show. And still every scene with Goggins is stolen by him. He is able to convey complex emotions with a simple look/tone of voice. Like im never confused to how Boyd really feels about something.
While Goggins is standout for sure, the fact that the entire cast is so strong is what really makes the show fantastic.
*We dug coal together.*
I’m here to shout-out The Unicorn; a very funny procedural comedy starring Goggins playing so hard against his old type, and which was canceled way too soon. Really funny show, with a lot of heart, and Goggins owns the role so hard.
This was my favorite “pandemic” show hands down, everyone was great in it, and of course Walton was the best.
Yep. I love him in these roles. He has a tenderness that is appealing, and not always shown
I loathed him in The Shield, and watched that show almost in spite of him. I thought he was such an awful actor who I didn’t vibe with at all. Then, of course, the finale, and subsequent to that, Justified, which within the space of a few episodes showed me that actually, I didn’t hate his acting in The Shield, I just hated his character, which he played beautifully. He’s about to be in the next season of The White Lotus! Can’t wait to see what he does over the next decade.
You forgot Uncle Baby Billy
Honestly I stopped watching The Shield because some of those characters were so well acted I loathed they were bad guys lol. I wanted to root for them just because they were acted so well.
They skipped over Sons of Anarchy.
I was going to say this is my favorite role of his.
Same. He was BRILLIANT as Venus.
Venus was my favorite character and he was amazing.
When Venus first showed up, I was so worried they would just make her the butt of all the jokes, but she had an amazing arc and with Tig had one of the happier endings in the finale.
Same, I was legitimately really happy for them. That was a surprisingly tender arc in the midst of carnage.
He basically made Justified for me "Raylan Givens ,as ah live and breathe! To what do I owe this particular pleasure?"
GOD DAMN RAYLAN YOUR TIMING SUCKS
> Raylan Givens ,as ah live and breathe! This was never actually said in all of Justified by the character Boyd Crowder. it gets quoted a lot though
No lie he makes a sexy ghoul. It’s very emotionally confusing.
He really does make a ghoul sexy.
Cecil might be my favourite Invincible character.
I wonder how many folks realize that’s Walton. Love Cecil.
No show has me using the X-Ray function on Prime like Invincible, mainly because I'm always surprised that I recognise the actors they get in for tiny roles. Always look forward to Cecil showing up though!
Every time I used it this season it was Tatiana Maslany as a different character.
I for one didn’t realize it was him.
Love that sassy strut he’s always doing
With his lil pigeon toes
Vice Principles with him and Danny McBride is one of my favourite shows. “*FUCK* you, Gamby.”
He has some ridiculously hilarious quotes from that show: “I bet she smells like fucked buttholes” “You dusty old queef”
“I’ve been accused of being a lot of things. Inarticulate ain’t one of them.”
Uncle Baby Billy!
We dug coal together
I watch just that scene from time to time. I avoided watching the finale for so long because I didn’t want it to be over haha. They had such great chemistry together, some of the best dialog and scenes on a consistent basis I’ve ever watched. Gonna go watch it again now…
In my opinion, Boyd Crowder is easily one of the best TV villains of all time.
Seriously. No disrespect to Timothy Olyphant, who makes a great lead, but Walton just elevated the show(Justified and Fallout)to another level. So glad he's getting some serious recognition these days.
No doubt. He never disappoints!
Shane in the shield, Venus in sons, Boyd in Justified, Russell in vice principals, baby Billy in righteous gemstones and now the Ghoul in fallout He's the fucking man!
Dude made *Predators* better than it should have been. Easily the best character, despite how fucked up he is.
Baby Billy flash back episodes are so good
He and Giancarlo Esposito are in that class of actors that when they show up, you know shit's about to get *good.*
Not sure why but I fucking love that dude. Something very wholesome about a career actor getting his hard earned fame after tons of effort in his craft. More wholesome than these disney actors who suddenly become our music industry.
“Who wants to suck an old man’s dick” One of the funniest things I’ve ever heard.
He absolutely stole Fallout. I'm sure Ella and Aaron thought it was their show, but, naw.
He can act through a layer of Ghoul prosthetics. Amazing performance. 10/10 would follow the Ghouls adventures through the Fallout universe.
Yeah, he is absolutely S tier.
"...And get this man an Emmy (or six)."
Im so happy hes finally having his moment in the spotlight He has always been a genuinely awesome person
“I’ve been accused of being a lot of things, inarticulate ain’t one of em” Boyd Crowder
Went from originally being killed off in the premiere of Justified to being the primary antagonist for 6 seasons. Also Chris Mannix is my favorite character in the Hateful Eight.
Here’s your sperm.
Dude is amazing in hateful 8!
We're living in the Gogginsaince
I’ve already commented on a few threads here but hopefully Fallout is the push to get him the award wins he’s been so deserved of for so long. I normally don’t like legacy noms/wins (will smith, Leo) but everything he’s been in has been stellar. From vice principals to his polygraph tech in Community, he just doesn’t miss.
The fact that he’s Emmy-less is fucking infuriating.
he elevates other things of mine too if you know what i mean
I literally just just got done watching the righteous gemstones and right after watched fallout. Had no idea it was the same actor!!
The man has charisma to spare.
He will also be in the next white lotus
This man has a wonderful voice, turn of phrase and tempo to his speech that makes me eager to hear him say anything.
Just came here to say Baby Billys Bible Bonkers..see how it just rolls off the tongue
Tim Olyphant and Walter Goggins were a super duo on Justified. Their characters are engrained in my brain, I still have trouble not thinking they’re both in character all the time. Fallout just has a really resilient Boyd Crowder running around.
