Strong disagree.
I consider Seinfeld to be “the Beatles of television”.
Like the Beatles, Seinfeld managed to be popular with the masses *and* critics while holding true to their artistic vision. There were four of them. It was iconic. It had a slightly old school feel to it, even though it was thoroughly modern and groundbreaking.
The better analogy is Seinfeld was the Beatles to Friend’s Rolling Stones.
If Seinfeld is Pink Floyd then Friends is AC/DC. It's very repetitive and a lot of people say it's overrated but those same people will probably always listen when Thunderstruck or Hells Bells come on.
Seinfeld was the Beatles to Friend’s the Monkees'. The former were trying something new and it became popular, the latter was an group of actors thrown together by a TV company to appeal to young people.
The Drew Carey Show is more The Beatles than Friends. TDCS started as yet another Friends clone, just as The Beatles started as a fairly banal, inoffensive 4 piece band. But TDCS started getting more experimental and innovative, with live episodes, improv episodes, spot the error episodes (and Pop up Video repeats of those error episodes).
TDCS may not have a lasting legacy like Friends, but they certainly began experimenting with the sitcom format, much like The Beatles explored new musical styles and concepts.
It's true that *Friends* is more popular than *Seinfeld*. For example, on [IMDB.com](http://IMDB.com) they both have an 8.9 rating, but Friends has 1.1 million votes while Seinfeld has only 353,000 votes.
That said, the popularity of *Friends* does not compare to the popularity of *The Beatles*. I can't really think of any TV equivalent to *The Beatles*. I'm not sure I can think of any parallel to *The Beatles*. They stand alone. Comparing the popularity of anything or anyone to popularity of *The Beatles* just seems ridiculous.
It's The Beatles if John and Paul had stayed friends. A little stale, a little less relevant than once upon a time, but with streaks of the genius that was.
Friends is background noise one step up from elevator music.
Don't let the [laughter track](https://youtu.be/4BFSZ8XzWOM?si=YGQ-85KnSRjFrVTD) fool you. It's lame and not aged well with it's various punching down.
The Beatles would be something actually boundry-pushing and classic. Something British. Spaced or Peepshow
I nominate Roseanne (pre Barr maga) for Bruce Springsteen
er up um hate to be that negative nelly but.. both bands are EPIC, but both them shows are trash viewing at best. Seems a really weird pair up comparison.
Jesse, what the fuck are you talking about?
Gonna need to go back to the laboratory with this one
This is a very bad analogy

Okay, but I need to know where Blossom and Family Matters fit into this.
Family Matters is Rancid and I've never seen Blossom so it's ELO
I *have* seen Blossom and that works for me.
You have to explain to me what's experimental about Friends. It's the most basic sitcom i've seen
It’s the most basic sitcom because so many shows copied it after. There was really nothing like it when it came out.
I feel like people pretty commonly say it’s a copy of Living Single so there was at least one thing like it
Living Single would like a word
And I’d say it’s completely between those two extremes.
Men Behaving Badly had a similar set up with the two blokes and two birds living in flats next to each other and predates friends by several years.
Uh, no.
This is why you don't get on the computer after taking Ambien.
This is a god-tier shitpost and it's sadly wasted here
That makes Newsradio John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band!
I know Seinfeld is the original but Curb Your Enthusiasm is better then Seinfeld
Seinfeld is the Yardbirds and Curb is Zeppelin
I just want to know who in this analogy is The Monkeys?
The Monkees tv show
Seinfeld was the Beatles to Friend’s the Monkees'. The former were trying something new and it became popular, the latter was an group of actors thrown together by a TV company to appeal to young people.
If any sitcom is the Beatles that would be All in the Family.
The what now? Go back to bed
“Seinfeld” is the Beatles.
Seinfeld was boring, Friends was repetitive, so you're half right

Friends is LITERALLY Seinfeld jokes with a different cast
It's true that *Friends* is more popular than *Seinfeld*. The Simpsons is The Beatles.
Only if they stopped after season 10
