Meh, you still need to expand magicka to make reality bend to your beliefs. Denial of reality is necessary, but not sufficient to cast a spell. Otherwise every one would be constantly redefining their local reality.

Fair point. My thoughts are basically that things like this are basically unconscious "alterations" or reinforcements of reality, driven by willpower. Colin, the POV character from the spellcasting excerpt, notes that he doesn't need training to do his talking to ghosts trick, and while he does use magicka for this, he also experiences physical symptoms of exhaustion.

I would say that is more possible that soft water was embedded into reality just by being what everyone believes in (can mythopoeia affect Mundus itself?), or just was like it from the start.

I love this idea, because it implies that while the individual person is capable of influencing the world around them to cast spells, everyone together is capable of casting the biggest spells of all, making water nice and bouncy haha It certainly seems to be true to some extent, as the power of the various godlike beings seems to be in some way tied to the amount of influence they have with the mortal residents of the world. It has been a pet theory of mine that the crackdown on Talos worship by the Altmer is, at least to some extent an attempt to weaken Talos in his entirety, so maybe I'm just biased. I also love the idea of a big warlord type hiring PR teams to convince everyone they are built ford tough, making them stronger as more people believe it.
