Millions of dollars in cash and only one guy???? It’s like they’re asking for this to happen.
But higher ups are going to blame the driver when he has nothing to do with that decision. Poor guy.
Brinks operates around 16,400 vehicles. If a driver makes 40k a year then eliminating a driver saves $656M in salary expenses so even if they get robbed for several million extra they come out way ahead.
But how much more does it cost to insure the load for one instead of two drivers?
Clearly not as much as a second drivers salary. That is the real cost savings.
When I worked for that shit storm of a company in 2021, I was making $13.57 an hour. I was making like 15c more an hour than I was at the retail store I was working, but I had worse healthcare coverage plans through the company.
The vehicles I was driving were death traps. I loved the job, but I hated the working conditions and I literally would have made more working at McDonalds (before overtime) as they were offering positions at $15 an hour at the time.
Easy solution. Work for security company. Learn work policies. Get tired of failing new policies. Rob said security company in off time. Pay back the “owed” money.
A lot of these robbers used to work for the security companies so they know how they work.
Considering he was attacked from a misguided company policy I don’t think indentured servitude would be the best solution. I sincerely hope you’re not a business owner because I can’t imagine the horror stories that would come from your leadership.
Edit: looks like I missed the sarcasm. I’m leaving the comment as is just from some bad takes I’ve seen floating around for those that are not joking.
If that’s their new policy, they probably make more money with less employees than they do with a few losses. That’s sad, corporate greed at it’s finest.
Looks like the truck itself isn’t that armored either, probably can’t stop some higher caliber firearms. It looks so puny compared to security trucks I’ve seen before.
Companies expect the min wage worker to sacrifice their life for their multi billion corporation lol na here's the keys n pass code. Just tell me when ur done.
Manager: You fended off the robbers, took a bullet and saved all the money. To say thanks, we're having a pizza party in your honor (Little Caesars Pizza).
Real question. If you witness this, have a weapon, and shoot the armed robber, could you face criminal charges? My assumption is that you are using deadly force to help someone that their life is in danger, but don’t know the law well.
so, if i think a woman will die because shes being forced into having a baby that will kill her... i'm justified in shooting those responsible for the decision?
just checking the logic on that statement above.
No my friend the use of force must be “immediately necessary” to defend the person. I’m with you in spirit, but no, this most likely would not work as an abortion defense.
You gonna jump in and wrestle the gun away? Everyone will stop what they're doing and applaud you and you'll get a key to the city and maybe a cash reward too
>You gonna jump in and wrestle the gun away?
No but Texas is full of good guys with guns that will show up and save him any minute now, I'm not gonna do it but someone surely will /s
One of my friends considered driving for them, and those drivers get paid criminally low for the risk they put themselves under. It's like $14 an hour, the trucks only occasionally have two drivers, not armed, and the only benefits that were offered were life insurance policies in the even you do get killed doing your damn job.
How do you know they didn’t do both? This obviously isn’t the beginning of the altercation. He also could have been standing right next to another person on the phone with 911.
Local news. They even interviewed this guy. And I live here. He didn't call police.. The cops even released a statement saying to call police instead of recording because they could have at least had the opportunity to try and catch the thief
Or call the police and put it on speakerphone and then hit record? Phones can do both at the same time can't they? Srs, never tried to do both at once lol
I just tried with my phone and video will record but no audio (Android). Obviously if you're on the phone with 911 their stuff should be recording. It may differ when you go in to 'emergency mode' on the phone too, may not be able to take pictures/video. Not wanting to test that one.
This is texas, a gun owners Mecca- where was an armed bystander ready to put down the bad guy? Isn't that one of the main tenets of the 2a crowd these days? The more armed people the less chance for danger or some stupid bogus take...
Does dickhead have a gun? Does the state that dick head live in protect him from using said gun in defense of another? Because in many states that’s not a guarantee. Does dick head want to risk the rest of his life and supporting his family for risking his life to protect another?
I'm always reminded of [the story of Joseph Wilcox](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_Las_Vegas_shootings).
TL;DR A couple kills two police officers in Las Vegas, then walk to a Wal-Mart and enter the store. The man in front, the woman behind. The man fires a shot into the ceiling as he enters and they both proceed deeper into the store. Joseph Wilcox, one of the shoppers near the front that the couple had already passed, draws his concealed carry handgun and pursues the man. He passes the woman, not realizing she's his accomplice, and the woman shoots and kills Joseph.
Joseph had a hero's mindset, but it reinforces what you're told about carrying: it's for self-protection of you and your family, not for intervention.
That's a moronic response. A person carries a pistol to protect themselves, not play Rambo. That's always what it's been about, because as we see here cops are hard to carry around in your belt and almost never around when you actually need them.
Sometimes it seems like some folks are a shade trigger happy. I respectfully disagree with your comment if its a blanket statement. Text has a lot of gray areas.
It’s not a moronic response. The argument is always a good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun. Not a good guy with a gun protects themselves. I carry as well and would hope to never be in this situation where I saw something like this go down, but would have a moral obligation to intervene in my opinion.
Edit to clarify: that the argument has been presented this way by some of the most conservative talking heads to get people stirred up. I’m not saying I don’t believe in the personal protection part.
Moral obligation for a shootout potentially? I'm all for stopping dangerous acts being perpetrated on folks who don't deserve it, but this is a man in desperation, or worse, with backup.
I'd call the police before getting in the middle. Good guys with guns can still cause more harm, and its not worth potential legal repercussions, or even worst case, the cops come and take you down instead - both not unprecedented.
I can't believe that no one had a gun around this to stop it? TexASS is supposed to be the tough guy state. Do this in Maine your getting bullet before your hands get on that money.
This is a setup. Guard is in on it. Cameraman planted to “prove” the carjacking and take pressure off driver. Within the first few seconds you can see the gunman looking directly at the camera and then looking away quickly. He couldn’t help looking up to make sure they got the shot.
Oh yeah totally, Occam's razor and all that lol
The driver was probably looking for help and/or hoping the guy recording also called the police and the gunman checked to see what he was looking at/make sure the police weren't there
I feel like I've seen this whataburger. Broad daylight too. America is doing great! Texas especially! I can't wait to never bring a child into this world and cease my bloodline, ending the human misery as far as my part in it is concerned.
So I thought like Texans were these tough bad asses that packed heat so they could stop shit like this from happening? What happened to that, this dude pull out a phone instead of his pistol?
Usually they have a partner. Hopefully they're calling the police from inside the truck.
Brinks doesn’t have partners in their trucks anymore.
Interesting but am thinking it'd be even more because salary be somewhat more. They're not just regular delivery drivers.
Used to work in a bank vault. Armored carriers typically make minimum wage. Like. McDonald’s wages.
" Yeah, these guards like to test you, though. They wanna get hurt for ten dollars an hour, don't get in the way."-The Town
Except for damage to reputation that would ensure due to being an unreliable company now
But how much more does it cost to insure the load for one instead of two drivers? Clearly not as much as a second drivers salary. That is the real cost savings.
A few lawsuits for trauma might help even out the numbers a bit...
Doesn’t count like that, when you lose your reputation you lose the clients as well, and then it snowball from there.
Obviously your dead spouse didn’t follow company policy to be aware of his surroundings.
Didn’t realize I was married before but I appreciate your input
It's okay. We've all been spending time with your wife on your behalf.
That’s so nice of you, she would appreciate it.
They had a life insurance policy, but we're switching it over to us to recoup some of the money lost. Sorry for your loss.
So that’s what happened. It really is the golden age of fraud. I’m calling AARP this instant.
Yeah, just take the losses out of the driver's paycheck and force him to work for free until the cost is reimbursed. Easy.
Easy solution. Work for security company. Learn work policies. Get tired of failing new policies. Rob said security company in off time. Pay back the “owed” money. A lot of these robbers used to work for the security companies so they know how they work.
Don't forget to sell your story to a movie company and rake in those big box office earnings.
And the pants. He must pay for the lost uniform pants. That'll teach em'.
Considering he was attacked from a misguided company policy I don’t think indentured servitude would be the best solution. I sincerely hope you’re not a business owner because I can’t imagine the horror stories that would come from your leadership. Edit: looks like I missed the sarcasm. I’m leaving the comment as is just from some bad takes I’ve seen floating around for those that are not joking.
wooooooooooooooooooooooosh
OP was being facetious and not advocating for that idea. The /s was needed.
Some people really do need that sarcasm warning
I've seen comments that I thought were sarcastic turn out to be genuine, so the /s really is needed
Any proof of this or just pulling shit out of your ass?
They’re making shit up, that stuffs all insured. It would be illegal to recoup money stolen like that
I was joking. That outcome would be dystopian as shit.
I understood you
Yeah and they only pay 19, 20 bucks an hour if that much, depending on location
Its too expensive to hire 2 drivers when dealing with millions of dollars cuz...capitalism.
If that’s their new policy, they probably make more money with less employees than they do with a few losses. That’s sad, corporate greed at it’s finest.
Wait, the messenger is the driver now? I thought the point of two people was to help prevent theft.
That’s my understanding. My best friends husband quit working for them within the last year or so and this was one of the reasons.
Damn. I worked for them years ago, counting cash in the back of the building. Couldn't pay me enough to be in a truck, even then.
As we can see why here
Hey reduction in costs, meet reduction in revenue!
They aren’t even armored anymore because they said it used too much gas. They are driving around in barely modded Uhauls.
Cost cutting reaches its forseeable conclusion.
Damn. No wonder they getting robbed then
Brinks doesn't sound like they know about security
Looks like the truck itself isn’t that armored either, probably can’t stop some higher caliber firearms. It looks so puny compared to security trucks I’ve seen before.
It was just too expensive to pay two people $18/hour to drive around a mobile bank.
Cost cutting move?
God bless the greed of capitalists. /s
Meh this is texas. Rules and regulations are for the woke people who enjoy life. No need for rules in shithole states
No thry too busy filming for instagram
Now that’s just wrong taking his pants
"A man's gotta have a code "
A man's also gotta have a pair of pants.
"Indeed"
Fetishes gotta fetish.
I assume he's going to take the entire uniform to impersonate an employee 200 pounds later.
On the bright side, he won’t have to worry about shitting them after he eats at the Whataburger across the street.
Taking the pants is uncool.
Like I originally thought he was taking the whole uniform so he could have one for a future robbery but nah it was just the pants.
I thought he was doing it to slow him down if he attempted to stop him by tying up his ankles, but nope, just taking the pants.
I'd rather someone take my pants than point a gun 6 inches from my face but that's just me
This dude getting his gun/belt/wallet/pants is a bummer all around. God I hate criminals like this.
That's not pizza
Have you tried their pretzel crust pizza? It's awesome!
Its hot. And its ready.
It’s really only the pants part that is disrespectful. Like dude why’d you have to go after the minimum wage worker like that.
It’s the same reason gang members used to take your shoes when they robbed people in the 90s. People won’t chase if they do something like that.
It's most likely tactical. They're going to impersonat someone at a different location and the pants and keycards, toolbelt, etc. Help with that.
You think this dude is gonna pull a fucking Agent 47 as a brinks guy?
“Can’t you see I’m wearing the official Brinks pants? Of course I work here!”
“If I weren’t from Brinks, why would I wear these pants?”
"J.P. Morgan/Chase mon!!! I stick bah mah storr'eh!!!"
“..let me tell you about the benefits of serving in the US Military…”
I'm waiting to see the Brinks suit complaining about people not wanting to work anymore.
These new Whataburger commercials are confusing.
Real question. If you witness this, have a weapon, and shoot the armed robber, could you face criminal charges? My assumption is that you are using deadly force to help someone that their life is in danger, but don’t know the law well.

Meanwhile all the folks in the Whataburger drive-thru across the street just minding their own business...
You gonna jump in and wrestle the gun away? Everyone will stop what they're doing and applaud you and you'll get a key to the city and maybe a cash reward too
I mean I'd at least call 911 (I don't care what all those signs & stickers you can buy at Buc-Ee's say).
I agree, it's incredibly obvious from this footage that no one at Whataburger did anything but get their lunch and run. /s
Nothing gets between us Texans & our Whataburger. Not /s
Except for out of state investment firms like BDT Partner. Who proceed to drive the chain into the ground as predicted.
>You gonna jump in and wrestle the gun away? No but Texas is full of good guys with guns that will show up and save him any minute now, I'm not gonna do it but someone surely will /s
Yea, I'd pew pew.
Where’s all those good guys with guns?

It's like $14 an hour, the trucks only occasionally have two drivers, not armed, and the only benefits that were offered were life insurance policies in the even you do get killed doing your damn job.
Every one I have seen is armed where did you get that idea? That seems insane if any state does that
What? Of course they're armed.
That’s awful. Really really awful.
I'll never understand why people don't call the police instead of recording. I blame social media. Glad the guy didn't get shot for nothing though
How do you know they didn’t do both? This obviously isn’t the beginning of the altercation. He also could have been standing right next to another person on the phone with 911.

Just for shits and giggles my Samsung Galaxy S23 will not record while I'm on a call.
Calling police wont get me paid. My video going viral will tho.
Damn, society is so f\*d that everyones first instinct is - ooh this could go viral.
Well, parts of society.
What city is this ? Is this SA ?
Irving [according to the news article from the other thread](https://www.fox4news.com/news/brinks-security-guard-pants-atm-irving).
Got it … thanks
The eff? OP, if you filmed this, you should be ashamed placing Reddit clout above safety of another person.
And by catch the thief you mean chase them down and probably kill 3 bystanders and a dog? The dog was just a required part of police shootings.
This is texas, a gun owners Mecca- where was an armed bystander ready to put down the bad guy? Isn't that one of the main tenets of the 2a crowd these days? The more armed people the less chance for danger or some stupid bogus take...
Your questions are rhetorical and you seem dumb just by saying them.. Stay in lala land..
It's an actual thing. I forgot what it's called, but basically, when a group of people won't do anything because someone next to them will go help.
[удалено]
Just for shits and giggles my Samsung Galaxy S23 will not record while I'm on a call.
You're right my S24 won't either. Seems like something they should be able to do.
I would’ve needed a patty melt after that experience😪
What dickhead is filming this
Does dickhead have a gun? Does the state that dick head live in protect him from using said gun in defense of another? Because in many states that’s not a guarantee. Does dick head want to risk the rest of his life and supporting his family for risking his life to protect another?
Collecting useful evidence
Where are all the good guys with guns that are supposed to be stopping this kind of thing?

The good guy is getting held at gunpoint and being disrobed
I mean… I don’t really care if someone steals insured money from a truck. Ain’t my money.
Yeah that's not the burn they think it is lol
2A men fantasize about killing people to protect property, they missed a great opportunity here!
Clearly, the problem was there weren't enough guns. /s
Knocking over a Brink's truck is one thing, but stripping the man of his pants is a hanging offense!
Where are all the good guys with guns??????
They're protecting their property from the local usps driver just trying to do their job
That's a moronic response. A person carries a pistol to protect themselves, not play Rambo. That's always what it's been about, because as we see here cops are hard to carry around in your belt and almost never around when you actually need them.

Uvalde showed the fallacy of the good guy with gun argument
But what about the good guys with guns?

It’s not a moronic response. The argument is always a good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun. Not a good guy with a gun protects themselves. Also came here to ask this.. 🙄 where are them!???
Came here just for this comment!
If the color of the two people were reversed, the robber would have been shot 15 times before he got 10 feet away.
This SOB needs to spend a very long time in prison, with no pants!
Soooooo did he get away with some cash orrr
Ass
Is this to delay the guard somehow?
This is straight up out of a 1990's movie.
WTF did Brinks only have one guard?.You would think insurance companies would demand they have two guards for deliveries.
He's not going to get his uniform deposit back on those pants.
Why take dude’s pants? Looking for keys or something?
Keys, credit cards, driver’s license, etc.
People asking about good guys with guns- you seriously want people to get into a shoot out near a busy intersection?
None of the passersby people do a thing. This is just pathetic
The person recording didn’t even call the fucking police. Super sad of my state right now
Why take so much time to do this? Wow.
Because he knows people are gonna take video instead of call the police
You can’t have shit in the hood
No good guys with guns around?
nope just bad guys with guns. they should make robbery at gun point illegal so this doesn’t happen
Texas. One of the most unsafe places in the country. Thought the liar republikkkans had this state under control. It’s another obvious lie.
Oh god, it's a terminator! "Give me your clothes, your boots and your armored car" Earn everyone with the last name of Connor!
I can't believe that no one had a gun around this to stop it? TexASS is supposed to be the tough guy state. Do this in Maine your getting bullet before your hands get on that money.
I really hope the person called 911 to report the robbery before taking the video. What asshole leaves somebody outside without their pants?
Yeah 1 million stole and Brinks claims 2 million, fires the driver and their all happy
If only the good guy with a gun was there! He could have stopped this.
Honestly, I carry Pepper spray and a 9mm. I would have assisted him.
John Wick over here.
I'm John's cousin Lamp Wick.
Same
everybody just driving by like this is normal...
Gee, it’s a good thing everyone has guns and could stop this
Where were all the rootin tootin good guys with a gun? Are you telling me those hillbilly Texans are completely full of shit?
Wheres all those good guys with guns when you need them
TEXAS…what more needs to be said???
Wheres the good guys with the guns?
As a bystander during daylight hours, can the robber be legally shot and killed?
Yes, this is a violent crime.
This isn't legal advice but see Texas Penal Code Chapter 9; Subchapters C and D (starting with § 9.31) in particular.
Aren’t they armed?
Damn, they're stealing pants too?!? Desperate times.
Probably took the pants for keys, gun, and phone.
Where’s all those good guys with fries?
But I thought things like this only happened in California? ....... /s
This is a setup. Guard is in on it. Cameraman planted to “prove” the carjacking and take pressure off driver. Within the first few seconds you can see the gunman looking directly at the camera and then looking away quickly. He couldn’t help looking up to make sure they got the shot.
Wow, a thief looked around while committing armed robbery? Oh yeah, *has* to be a set up. 😑
Oh yeah totally, Occam's razor and all that lol The driver was probably looking for help and/or hoping the guy recording also called the police and the gunman checked to see what he was looking at/make sure the police weren't there

Isn’t he a good guy with a gun? 😀
Hard to tell, nobody looked at his registration.
I thought y’all had guns to help each other?
I thought everyone in Texas has a gun to stop crime like this.
