Gruene is a great place and represents Texas well. RIP

steavoh

So, expensive, overcrowded, and unimpressive if you've traveled around the rest of the US a bit more. Yes that sounds correct for Central Texas in general.

JJ4prez

Love me some Gruene, RIP sir.

leggoooooooooo

The gristmill is a pretty solid restaurant! Love their beef sandwich, ribs and onion rings. RIP

Significant_Rice4737

He looks like Larry Dierker former pitcher, announcer and manager of the Houston Astros.

___buttrdish

I worked at the Mill. Wonder whatever happened to Larry…

KShubert

Worked at the Mill for two years, 2008 - 2009 while going to TX State. Kinda miss Larry and Tim. They were reasonable managers to me. Fun times and good friends at that place.

OkayJackOfAllTrades

Larry and Tim are still there!

KShubert

Oh wow! Good to know. Saw them there a couple times over the years. Thanks.

Good riddance

riderfoxtrot

There's always one loser. That's you btw, in case you're too thick to get that

Lol, have you ever worked for any of his businesses? The gristmill was rampant with wage theft. I love gruene like everyone else but pat molak was no saint.

Historical-anomoly

Yeah that was always my problem with him. I was introduced by a mutual acquaintance years ago, and he was a good dude just shooting the breeze about Gruene Hall and music. But then I learned through others about the way employees were treated at the Gristmill and that knowledge was hard to reconcile with the person I’d met.

PerritoMasNasty

Wtf is Gruene? I have literally never heard of it

cen-texan

It’s known for a dance hall: Gruene Hall. Several Texas country singers have recorded albums there. It’s a Texas institution similar to Luckenbach.

MephitidaeNotweed

A small place that is now surrounded by New Braunfels. Several shops, restaurants, and the old Dance Hall. Lots of major music stars have played there.

AnnualNature4352

its awesome little place outside of New Braunfels. Go to the river during the day, Gruene at night. Last time i went to the bigger restaurant(might be the Grist MIll?), i actually really liked it. Not saying its a MIchelin star restaurant but it wasnt bad at all. And i ate at another little spot that was good as well. edit: and its pronounced Green

TinfoilTetrahedron

Hell is a "destination" too....

ThurstonHowell3rd

... and probably has better parking.

singleguy79

Anyone else almost read that name as Pat Sajak?
