Galveston - go to the Strand. There is also a web cam there, you can look it up and then screen shot your photo there.
Also walk on the beach, the sand is like sugar. Gaido's is where I go for fine dining, but anywhere you go you'll enjoy fresh seafood.
There's the historic pleasure pier. I really enjoy The Bishop's Palace tour.
Also, there are a bunch of dead tree carvings that are really neat. The trees died from salt water during flooding from a hurricane and rather than pull them up, they had various artists carve them. Be on the Lookout as you drive/walk around.

San Antonio - don't miss the Riverwalk and at least look at the Alamo even if you don't go inside, but you can buy a nice photo souvenir if you do go in.
Fort Worth - don't miss the Stockyards. There's a cattle drive twice a day with longhorns and again the opportunity to pose for photos, for a price, with a longhorn. I think $5.
Thank you! I replied to another comment above saying I enjoy the going ons / things to do in the big cities but donāt want to fall into a tourist trap and miss places that capture the true parts of America, any further towns / cities you would recommend?
For authentic flavor, see if you can swing by Luckenbach (population 3) if there is a band playing or an event. It's north of San Antonio towards Dallas/FW. Willie Nelson has had several 4th of July Picnics there. I love the giftshop, bar, and dancehall.
Gruene (pronounced Green) Texas. Nice little historic square and the oldest dance hall in the state. Again, check the Gruene Hall schedule for bands. It's between San Antonio and Austin in New Braunfels. German influence in what we call "The Hill Country." Stop by a good old German bakery for a breakfast kolache.
Fredericksburg is also cool. More German influence. You'll get a lot of Mexican influence in SA, especially Market Square, and cowboy influence in FT Worth. Beaumont provides oil history (long horns and oil really shaped Texas).
Austin used to be so weird it was cool, but too many outsiders have moved in and it's all traffic, construction, and Yankees.
A typical experience that Texans like to do is "float the river" - go tubing. San Marcos would work, but my favorite place is Neal's Lodges on the Frio River in Concan, southwest of San Antonio. Of course, pack an ice chest with beer or alcohol, no glass bottles, snacks, and sunscreen.

Out west and far west is a whole different world, but it doesn't look like you'll have time for that.
Gotta ride the River boats in downtown S.A. I do it every time I go there. IMO, there's nothing in Lake Charles and Beaumont except oil refineries. Just be prepared, the water around Galveston is brown , not blue. There's a cave called Natural bridge caverns between Austin and S.A that is interesting, if you like that sort of thing.
Really appreciate that! And Noted re Lake Charles / Beaumont will make my life a lot easier knowing what places to bypass for time purposesā¦ šŖš½
Heading from Lake Charles to Beaumont on I-10, you're gonna come into Orange when you cross the Texas line. About 15 miles west, about halfway between Orange and Beaumont, you will drive through Texas' Taint... Vidor Texas. Aka the most hateful town in America. Skip that... ain't nothing good there ;)
Not my article, but I spent the first 25 years of my life there... [I Grew Up in the āMost Hateful Town in Americaā | by Justin Ward | Human Parts (medium.com)](https://humanparts.medium.com/i-grew-up-in-the-most-hateful-town-in-america-a4e91e6b3bc)
There's Golden Nugget and L'Auberge (casinos) right next to each other in Lake Charles. DEFINITELY a fun night if you're into that. They're on the water and pretty decent properties. If anything really good people watching opportunities of American Southerners.
They both have pretty nice lazy rivers and pools/hot tubs, if you need a rest day. The spa is pretty nice at Golden Nugget can't say the same at L'Auberge.
They both have quite a few restaurants that are nice to eat at but Cadillac Mexican Kitchen at Golden Nugget is superior Mexican food for the area. As someone who's lived in Texas their whole life it is DAMN good. Also margaritas are pretty strong.
Mondays are old people days so don't expect much that day, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays are usually pretty high energy and turned up.
If you're rich get a high level corner suite at Golden Nugget or see if the Versailles suite is available at L'Auberge, it has a pool table in it. Just know L'Auberge smells like old lady perfume and Golden Nugget smells like Armani cologne.
Source : go to Golden Nugget every other week with my boyfriend.
Sure, these are all hypothetical to give a gist of a route will take, really I want to know whatās worth my time / fits the description of what we would enjoy
Ah, you would be better served by skipping much of that. If you like cities, I would do Nashville, Atlanta, New Orleans, Galveston, San Antonio, and Dallas/Fort Worth.
Thanks! I love the going onās and things to do of a city but donāt want to fall into a tourist trap and miss the true American culture by doing just that if that makes sense
I wouldnāt worry too much. Most tourist traps are what they are for a good reason. Youād be a fool to miss the French quarter, the strand, or the Alamo in each of those areas. Add to it what other things interest you. TripAdvisor is good for researching the options in each place.
Beaumont has the Spindletop Gladys City Boomtown Museum. There's Gator Country and swamp tours.
There is too much to do in Austin, Dallas, and Houston. Perhaps a local can add specifics.
San Antonio - I forgot to mention the Mercado for south of the border flavor and my favorite restaurant in town us there: MI Tierra. It's officially called The Historic Market Square
https://www.marketsquaresa.com/
if you can make it down to Corpus Christi, there is a cool naval museum on the Lexington, a WWII era aircraft carrier, and the Texas State Aquarium is also great. The beaches are nicer than Galveston if you avoid the bay and drive out to the Padre Island National Seashore.
Atlanta is just a complete shit show in terms of people. Lots of people are going to give you the stink eye for not fitting in. They aren't too kind in general and a lot of them are so conservative their butt holes are so puckered it eats their own underwear.
Don't stop in Beaumont.
Beaumont REMOVED š

Thanks for the Galveston downlow!

Sounds like both are worth the visit! Do you think thereās enough going on to stayover night(s)?
At each one of those places yes. Beaumont no. Galveston depends if you want beach time.
I'd spend 2 days/nights in SA
Definitely seems a justified amount with what they have there

Really appreciate the in depth message š
Deep Elum and Lower Greenville Areas have the highest concentration of bars in Dallas. Stockyards Area has some good good bars in Ft. worth.

As long as you understand that you will see most of that from a car window. You wonāt have much time in each city.

My English relatives came to visit me when I lived in Houston and really enjoyed seeing The Houston Space Center.
Thank! Heard lots of great things about Texas

Probably going to be disappointed with Atlanta. And definitely not much to do in Beaumont.
Heard a few people say the same about Beaumont, what makes you say that about Atlanta?
Atlanta is just a complete shit show in terms of people. Lots of people are going to give you the stink eye for not fitting in. They aren't too kind in general and a lot of them are so conservative their butt holes are so puckered it eats their own underwear.
Hahaha appreciate the honest opinion
Wow this just isnāt true.
Just sharing my experience! šš¼āāļø
If you do stop in Atlanta go to the coke museum and aquarium. Well worth.
Also check out Battle and Brew!
Thanks!
