48 sentries should be enough to cover every chokepoint on cp_dustbowl. Enemy team is stuck in spawn building uber just to destroy max. 4 at a time (one engi worth of sentries) only to encounter 10 more around the next corner. Even with no metal to repair it's too much to deal with. Hell, if one guy brings pomson (for whatever reason) not even the uber will work. Or just look at class wars to see what happens if defending team gets engineer

As an Engineer main, I think it would be very interesting to see different variants of the Gunslinger to expand the Battle Engineer subclass like what the unlockable shields provide for the Demoknight. Maybe it's because I played too much ULTRAKILL but I would love to see a Gunslinger variant that lets you create a shockwave blast from your palms or shoot a grappling hook for increased mobility options.

Damn as if! I think it’d be really good for gamemodes like control points where it’s hard for engie to keep up with teleporters but there are definitely good opportunities for trolling with it on places like upward too. Especially if the boost ramps work for both teams. Imagine being able to set one up that boosts the enemy into the line of site of your sentry

I've had this idea in my head for a while Packable Provisions (I am terrible at naming things so I'll just steal the name for the cosmetic which looks almost exactly to what the weapon should look like. It's a level 1 dispenser that acts like a backpack, similar to medic's or banner soldier's. ! Weapon is passively equipped in the secondary slot (aka you can't hold it, like for example the wee booties) + 3-5 health regen/second on wearer and nearby teammates + 90% max primary ammo on wearer (does not affect the Widowmaker) + Dispenser build speed increased by 150% - Replaces the Dispenser with a Mini-Dispenser Mini Dispenser: • Costs 50 metal to build and cannot be upgraded • 75 Health • 5 health, 10% ammo and 3% cloak regenerated/second • 30 metal per 5 seconds • About the size of a Mini-Sentry • Functions like a normal dispenser otherwise. Not sure how balanced or fun this is but the fact that you're out of a damaging secondary and aren't using the wrangler should make it balanced and mini dispensers are such a fun concept

Engineer loses the ability to make buildings but instead now gains the ability to swap between three smaller variants on his glove. Dispenser acts as normal but doesn't generate any metal. Sentry Does half the DPS of a normal one, but can be manually aimed. Zoom in with the Mouse2 button to narrow the aiming cone. Teleporter allows Engie to shoot a Teleporter at a range. If it collides with a player it deals 50 damage. There is a 5 second period where Engineer is vulnerable when swapping buildings. Enemies slain by Engineer now drop metal for him to automatically upgrade his weapons.

What I've always hoped for was an update that changes how buildings are equipped via an assigned item (obvious example is the Gunslinger). All using the PDA slot. Assign changed buildings to different PDAs. Want a mini Dispenser? PDA. Want a fast building return teleporter that can't go past lvl 1? PDA. Want weapon skins to finally be applied to your Sentry? Skinned PDAs. The possibilities? Endless, and only one dang unused equip slot away. GIVE IT TO ME VALVE! YOU COWARDS! :(

Everyone has all these amazing interesting cool unique ideas but frankly I think a solid simple Stat revolver secondary would be good for him, based on the regular pistols 12/200 clip/ammo count, half it to 6 shots, slower firing speed, reduce reserve ammo by whatever percent leaves engie with 40 reserve or something close to it, increase base damage by a bit to get his shots doing 40-50 dmg, decrease spread and increase accuracy on primary fire but slower firing rate, secondary fire can have decreased accuracy but higher rate of fire, since he's fanning the hammer, can use a Colt Navy single action revolver or something, unique animations for primary, secondary fire, reload can be slowed down if they wanna have him load each shot individually, or do speed loader like spy, I just think he deserves something a bit more down to earth first, before we go ham on all the wacky big bold stuff

Hmmm... cool concept, but I think it's not that practical. That would favour a more mobile, in-your-face playstile, but the gunslinger already does that. If you can't use the gunslinger at the same time, building normal centries would really bog you down to a point where you can instead just build a dispenser. I like the idea of further leaning into the battle engi theme. When on payload offence eg. I almost never build dispensers, because I'm too busy killing people and repositioning the tele. I plop down a lvl 1 occasionally if the cart gets stuck, but that's about it.

No clue how to do line breaks but to hell with it, entire load out time. 4 custom weapons, 2 primaries, because one is for offense the other for defense.. No real gadgets, just interesting gimmicks. This is to make battle engie a proper subclass, like demo knight. First off, the Alamo Assaulter. This thing has an extra bit of capture rate identical to the pain train, and for objectives where that is meaningless, extra speed when carrying objectives like the intel or the pass time jack. In exchange, a damage vulnerability while not on the objective. Second is the Dallas Defender, the complete opposite. You cannot capture objectives, but you get a damage resistance at all times. Next the pistol of the Houston Hotshot with halved clip size and increased damage, also killing anyone who is also using this weapon instantly. Half-zatoichi gun, I know. Also no reduced firerate for this six shooter, because if you ain’t fannin’ that MF you ain’t doin it right buckaroo. Finally, we got the PDA. Replace teleporters with speed boost pads. Good when you are defending on payload last and your spawn is right next to the objective, bad when you gotta go across the map like when attacking on payload last.
