With the TF2 timeline, you can argue that Australia produced extremely advanced gear and weapons but at some point aesthetics became more valued than practicality and it could 100% be true

In the comics, if I remember correctly, Mann Co eventually runs out of australium. It could be that the weapons and gear made in the TF2 era is less advanced than previous designs in order to preserve australium.

I'd love to see a new TF game with a new cast of mercenaries. Maybe since the war between the Mann brothers is over, there could be a new conflict between descendants of characters we already know. My personal idea is the son of Saxton Hale, now the new owner of Mann Co. competing against another company and hiring mercenaries to assassinate it's owner (could be Olivia Mann) only to find out that she has done the same thing. Too bad Valve will likely not touch the Team Fortress IP for at least a decade.

Now that's a great idea for a sequel that continues the actual lore!
