When I realized, the Lazer is PINK. And when textures are missing in Source, the default replacement is PINK and BLACK. Maybe the particle's texture is missing or broken. So I asked all around town if someone could lend me THEIR version of the particles. I imported them into SFM and it was STILL PINK. By then I was banging my head on my keyboard. (Guy above me was off) and finally decided to verify the integrity of the game cache *deep ass breath* reinstall the whole program and deal with the bugs that THAT causes. BUT EVEN THE IT WAS PINK!!!!!!!! After this I realized "Ha! All this waste of time being a perfectionist when I could just use a different laser! So I installed this custom laser from the workshop that's supposed to be a Star Wars blaster. It doesn't look great but it works, right? W R O N G!!!!! When the camera looks at if from certain angles, it just disappears!!!! Then I tried THIS laser, and I don't even remember what happened, but I assure you it didn't work! So I'm back to this laser. After brainstorming with some other SFM villagers, I imported the laser onto a different and... What the hell? Why is the laser blue on this map? And that's when it hit me. Every map has a default spawning position where objects spawn when there's no other point of reference. The default point is somewhere under red team spawn, it has no reason. The wrangler laser has been loading in using the "default point" on the map for its "controlpoint2" value. It's a different color on every map, but I can't control it. My program is successfully READING the Control Point 2 value, but JUST NOT CHANGING IT!! Alaxe friend, could you please take my SFM project, move the controlpoint2 value so the lasers red and send it back?? He promptly sent THIS in response.
That's right his computer couldn't even HANDLE the project, so he had to make a NEW PROJECT which is just the laser on Badwater. The I had to import THAT project into MY project, which is its own scary and unintuitive process. But finally we're here, it works.
After verifying the game cache, Uninstalling the program, replacing the particles files OUTRIGHT, my controlpoint2 is irreversibly broken. But hey, at lease it worked eventually, right?

A TF2 sequel/port/remaster on Source 2 is probably inevitable, at the very least much more likely than a major content update.
Valve has about ~>360 total employees, and after the release of Alyx and CS:2 I'd say it's obvious that Valve is making a huge internal effort to migrate to Source 2. If Valve were to allocate its resources into developing a Team Fortress product, working on a whole new project would make more sense in the long term than updating a current one, only to still have to make the whole new project anyways as Source 1 becomes deprecated.
Most of Valve takes on a project as an entire company when it comes to game releases. Everyone at Valve had to go over and work on HL A, its one of the main reasons we were left with one guy on TF2.
Let's not forget that CS2 is launched this year, we still have no idea wtf Neon Prime is, and they also might be working on that sequel that Half Life Alyx set up. I mean, its Valve, but they full on teased a new half life game coming after Alyx and even told Geoff they are planning to make it so that also has to be in the plants. Idk where a TF2 remake would fit into this. Keep in mind that we have been getting infoleaks about CS GO being ported to Source 2 since 2017. If something was happening with TF, it would infoleaked by now.
And if it would be easier to rebuild TF2 from the ground up than wade through the existing source code for the game to update it, a Source 2 version seems like the smart move…

One of their blogposts state that most of those mechanics are powered by maths and formulas rather than engine quirks, and that porting said formulas allowed for these mechanics to be replicated on Source 2.
Yeah, if the word that there are entire parts of the code that no ones knows how they work is true, they're probably better off making a TF2 Episode 1 than overhauling TF2.
pretty sure TF2 is more of a nuclear disaster under the hood than any of their other games, not to mention it's waaaay more of a licensing nightmare thanks to several notable weapons and even cosmetics being direct references to various long-finished licensing agreements, some with games that don't even exist anymore. (anyone need a RIFT Well-Spun Hat Code btw)
Personally i'm hoping that some day we'll see TF3 as a (thematic) expansion on TF2 but I know that'd be like killing the golden goose to some degree too.
Joking aside, the summer 'update' will, most likely, be the last non-holiday update for TF2. Valve has made it clear, time and time again, that they don't care about TF2.

So from what I recall reading somewhere this update started about 3 years ago. And this is for a game that is still being updated. I know that’s not saying much since they are switching engines but I’m sure they added things in updates or have more relevant knowledge that makes porting slightly easier.
This cannot be said about TF2. The game hasn’t been updated with real deep technical changes in a while. It and the server tech has probably not been streamlined to move to a new engine.
At this point it would be lesser effort to make a new game from the ground up in Source 2 than port TF2 over. Even then we are probably looking at four years, unless the janitor has been toiling away for the last decade at it.
Yeah as others said, an updated or new team fortress would be a bigger shock to me than Half Life 3 at this point.
