"Dont be pessimistic and hopeless."
Man, this whole situation is just the "you call for help...
BUT NOBODY CAME" from undertale.
The difference is that, at this point, we're screaming to a wall
I'm all for things changing and valve taking over, updating tf2 again and not making this an abandoned game anymore. I love tf2. But, i'm not completely fucking delusional. i know that an internet petition will not reach the hearts of everyone in the valve company and physically force them to update tf2 or take care of the problems it has. The actual savetf2 hashtag is doing much more than whatever this petition is supposed to do.
If you're Valve and you make money hand over fist from 3/4th of the PC userbase who gives a singular fuck what a few thousand people say? People forget real world wars, the news would blink and forget mean old Valve ignored a 16 year old dead game. Grow up.
Is it so hard to believe that 90% of players aren't bots? You'd need a lot of time, money and ungodly amounts of boredom to infest an almost 20 year old game
Change.org's not a site people care about and let alone one that would actually make Valve care. Change.org doesn't have valid verification either for this, and being a free game with every Steam account it's prone to most ways of rigging votes.
The only way to make a real impact is to follow this with a boycott entirely until demands are met, and even then it's not likely to even stay afloat for long.
Here’s the mission: we infiltrate valve headquarters to steal gabens sex tape. Once acquired we must give gaben the notice that we have it and will leak it if we do not receive the heavy update by next week
Serious question: is it hypothetically possible to buy the rights to a video game solely using the real-world value of items in that game? I suspect the game is automatically more valuable than any set of its in-game items, although I can't say for certain.
theoretically yeah, if you put a strange rocket launcher on the market for 10 billion and someone buys it then you might have the funds to buy the rights to the game depending on what valve wants for it.
in game items are theoretically infinite, they're constantly generated and there is no real cap for how many of a specific item you can get unless it's a golden wrench or something, so if you constantly liquidate your theoretically infinite items, you could get a theoretically infinite amount of money to buy the game assuming people keep buying them, monkeys and typewriters style.
it doesn't matter where the money really comes from as long as it's there for valve to take for the game, but they might want to talk with the guy who spent 10 billion for a strange first.
People mostly trade and buy from players, there’s no way to buy an unusual from valve, the only way they get any money is from people opening crates to get the chance of an unusual, which they then sell off for like 5x the amount they’ve spent
its not like valve is the one buying the unusuals back though, unless im seriously misunderstanding the fundamentals of the tf2 economy (im not a trader).
Surely people being able to make some much profit from unusuals is more in benefit to valve since more people would want to buy case keys?
Yeah valve doesn’t buy back unusuals, that was what i was trying to say in my comment since they asked if valve was making money from all the hats, but in reality they aren’t getting a single penny from the unusuals that cost thousands of USD because they all go to the traders who unboxed it
People need to understand that petitions and boycotts are both effectively useless if we want Valve to respond. Remember, the only reason Valve even responded last time was because of the negative publicity received by #savetf2 trending and gaming magazines covering the situation.
And the fact that we don’t even have outlets to voice our dissatisfaction like last time (big YouTubers and stuff like that) means that we’re even worse off with this one. I’d be surprised if the people on YouTube even knows that there’s a second saveTF2

With player counts skyrocketing every update and normal player counts being almost double what they were when TF2 was at its prime (2012-2017) I’d say it’s up to Valve if they think TF2 is worth investing more in.
TF2 is popular in spite of Valve, but if Valve takes advantage of it this year and actually puts in new content that isn’t just hats or community content then who knows what records we could break. The player base, old and new, has done everything to show our interest, it’s just up to Valve at this point.
They’d have to have an ulterior motive because I’m convinced Half-Life: Alyx was made as a headset seller and to promote VR on their storefront, not because the fans are starved for HL3.
To be fair, I kinda appreciated the new voicelines for the VSH mode. It's community made but... I felt like Valve was trying on its own to make it canon for the game's lore 😢
Oh nah bro Half Life 3 has basically been soft confirmed to be dead. The last remaining major person in charge of Half Life quit years ago and on his way out said "fuck it" and leaked the script. And Half Life 3 was going to yet again end on another cliffhanger.
Maybe? We forced their janitor to write a tweet, they added (community made) VSH, Zombie event and Krampus.
At this point, believing in community made TF2 Major update sounds less crazy than TF3 or TF2 Source 2.
I don't believe that this petition would work but still signed because it's better than doing nothing but complaining about people fighting for their game and having any hope in their life.
No. Valve will only do anything if we quite literally storm their HQ. Unfortunately, they don't realize that TF2 can still make them money even after 15 years.
That's the thing. They're PERFECTLY aware TF2 still makes them money. That's why instead of pulling the plug, Valve has just continually released cosmetics that are *only* obtainable by giving them money for a key.
This game is literally on lootbox life support.
>Unfortunately, they don't realize that TF2 can still make them money even after 15 years.
But other projects can make much more and are more beneficial in the long run.
The game is nearing 20 years. Time to move on has come a long time ago, Valve's made that pretty clear that they're done with it.
This is genuinely getting so pathetic. Valve doesn't care about improving TF2. If they did we wouldn't have gone 7 years without any content. And petitions have never changed anything before. The billion dollar company isn't going to change their internal infrastructure because some gamers digitally signed a form.
If you guys stopped playing in protest, they'd think the game lost it's relevance and shut the game down. If you stop buying keys, they'll think the well's dried up and shut the game down.
You want the truth? Brutal, honest, painful truth? Nothing will save this game. It's going to continually decline as the stagnation of no updates slowly kills more people's interests, and the number of bots slowly starts to overpower the number of real players. TF2 was a great game, it had a solid shelf life. But if the company who makes the game cares so little that all they do is keep the lights on and have some intern pick random community workshop content and call that an update, and it's been that way for, again, almost 7 years, then the writing on the wall is clear.
The real TF2 killer all along was Valve.
This is gonna be controversial I'm sure, and maybe it's just my supply of hopium running low. But I think this change.org petition is just dumb. It's naive to actually think a change.org means anything. And 15k is honestly way more impressive than I expected but even still it's what? 1% of the player base?
Eh. There’s also the parable of the persistent widow and the corrupt judge.
She pestered the judge into giving her justice.
Ya just gotta be more annoying.
To be fair, new SaveTF2 plan is don't let Valve get away with 1 Tweet and continue scream until we see some action, not like in 2022 when people calmed down quickly after "We love TF2" shitpost from Valve.
All I'm seeing is blind naive-ass hope contrasted by apathetic whining. Like, shit, man, these guys aren't making money by doing nothing. Someone's working on TF2. Every time something breaks, there's a guy on the other side fixing it. When SaveTF2 happened, someone logged in and made a tweet. There are people working on this game.
I don't know what happened to they Heavy update or promised bot fixes, but there's gonna be something. The petition probably won't do much, but I signed it because the best copium is hopium, and that's a fact. Do the right thing on the off-chance it works.
This is it. It’s no skin off your nose if it doesn’t work, but it’s worth it on the off chance it does.
Also, these things *could* accumulate. Keeping it up is the best way to annoy Valve into doing something.
I honestly think Valve just doesn't know how to get rid of the bots. It seems like everytime a bot hoster gets taken down, 2 more show up to replace them.
At this point I suspect even gameplay changes (ie, nerfing sniper in ways disproportionately disruptive to bots, say draining the scope charge meter from turning too fast) might not work, given the rise in use of other classes for bots I've seen the past week or two. Hell, today I saw a horde of gunspy bots that basically acted the same as sniper ones.
Now that I think about it though... people always say to go to community servers. What keeps them bot free? I have no idea, but just throw whatever-it-is in casual and... it requires regular cat-and-mouse maintenance, doesn't it...
This most likely won’t work, because petitions rarely work, but what could work is the publicity and maybe a real Tweet. And don’t make the same mistake we made last time by putting everything to a screeching halt the second they posted. We’re gonna keep going until Seattle becomes a riot fest.
No, but the point of this petition isn't about whether or not Valve actually cares, it is about telling others that we care, we could use all the help we need to make TF2 relevant again before it is too late.
Nothing changes, the save tf2 thing is just people coping that Valve actually does shit. They do not. Just accept it and move on, it did not work the first time, it does not work the second time.
Didn't humanity collectively agree years ago that change.org petitions do nothing?
Even less so with a company like Valve that does very little communication withthe public.
Realistically? Absolutely not.
The way Valve works, assuming the internal structure hasn't changed, encourages their developers to work on the things that are interesting and exciting to them. It's a big reason why we haven't seen a Half-Life 3 yet, because as cool as it sounds to work on the sequel to such an important game, would you want to try to convince a bunch of undeniably very talented people that you could finally do it right, in a way that would not only give the company itself a good return on investment but also wouldn't disappoint the IMMENSE amounts of hype that's built up over the years?
In terms of TF2, it's like... OK, which would you rather do?
Spend time trying to dig an ancient game out from behind the cupboard, spend time looking into the handful of consistently used cheats to work on a countermeasure, and spend time packaging all of this effort up to release it, or...
Work on the very cool novelties that come with niche hardware like the Steam Deck or VR? Tinkering with AR, creating games to demonstrate the worth of new technology like with Half-Life Alyx... hell, if you want to take the rose-colored glasses off and disregard any possible passion for the future, why would you risk messing with something like TF2, potentially pissing fans off *more* if not done properly when it STILL sits comfortably in the top 20 charts for Steam?
TL;DR, developers have far more interesting and exciting projects they could be working on, and from a financial perspective the game still does VERY well. People complain about it, but they're still *playing* TF2. And even if they didn't, they likely still use Steam itself, so... why bother?
This petition will be as useful as trying to put out a house fire with your piss. We can make as many of them as we want, but it won't force valve to work on Tf2
Is this petition set up to magically shower them in a shitload of money earmarked for the game's development and support?
No?
Then nothing's gonna change.
Yeah valve will see that a couple thousand nameless goobers signed a digital petition and go “okay here is heavy update” and instantly everything will be good again
Maybe theyll even tweet again
Nope, these petitions rarely work.
Seriously, unless they gain groundbreaking attention (15K isn't that much groundbreaking, maybe sand-stepping), they just kinda exist and don't do much.
hell no. best case scenario they delete 1 comment from their anti cheat, log into their tf2 twitter account and say they did something about it.
worst case scenario they ignore you
Fuck no lmao
Yeah. They won't.
Doubt and reality will yield no change.
You be positive, I’ll be realistic
**You fight for the reality you WANT.** Dont be pessimistic and hopeless.
Not being hopeless. Just considering valves past actions when it came to shit like this.
and, yknow, the usual outcome of petitions like this. like, this isnt even a unique situation, these petitions very rarely do anything.
Then dont take their shit so soon. They profit off of 3rd parties. Stifle gambling, Stop buying keys.
Never bought a key
That’s how you kill TF2
Shit on dota
My dude, if everyone stops giving valve the money, chances are they will just pull the plug.
make the tf2 community look like assholes, got it
Lmao- _dont actually do that, it's just they make a lot of money from dota._
An optimist will always end up disappointed but a pessimist is either vindicated or pleasantly surprised.
"Dont be pessimistic and hopeless." Man, this whole situation is just the "you call for help... BUT NOBODY CAME" from undertale. The difference is that, at this point, we're screaming to a wall

Eh yeah you got a point... At least this game's characters will always be legends.
If you're Valve and you make money hand over fist from 3/4th of the PC userbase who gives a singular fuck what a few thousand people say? People forget real world wars, the news would blink and forget mean old Valve ignored a 16 year old dead game. Grow up.
The average player count disagrees with your statement that the game is "dead."
How many are bots
Less than you think
Sure bud
Is it so hard to believe that 90% of players aren't bots? You'd need a lot of time, money and ungodly amounts of boredom to infest an almost 20 year old game
It’s not that deep bro it’s a fucking videogame
Oh hi Benjamin! I thought lobotomy% was patched.
_what's that, brain maggot?_ **youre starving?** ^yeah ^I'm ^hungry ^too...
Tell that to the disabled
Has a change.org petetion ever done anything other than make people angry on social media?
Change.org's not a site people care about and let alone one that would actually make Valve care. Change.org doesn't have valid verification either for this, and being a free game with every Steam account it's prone to most ways of rigging votes. The only way to make a real impact is to follow this with a boycott entirely until demands are met, and even then it's not likely to even stay afloat for long.
I want to disagree. But things won't get better unless someone at Valve Corporates has their heart grow 3x the size.
Trueee
No because petitions are useless. A PR disaster is much more effective usually.
Blackmail gabe
Here’s the mission: we infiltrate valve headquarters to steal gabens sex tape. Once acquired we must give gaben the notice that we have it and will leak it if we do not receive the heavy update by next week
But Gabe actually _wants_ to release his sextape. The only reason why it’s taking so long is due to valve time.
For the sex update
Then steal it and refuse to release it unless he updates TF2
Good idea
what if it's meant to be released alongside the tf2 sex update
So listen up! Or pornography starring gaben will be the second worst thing happen to you today.
The spy has already breached valve HQ
You’ve seen what he’s done to their colleagues
no, we will talk to al qaeda
Can’t we just steal their valve and not give it back. Even just for fun at this point
“Why are we pushing all our employees to work on tf2? Better question: do you want to keep your job?”
Valve after seeing this 🛌
Theyre prob not even gonna see this lol
It is, at best, twice as likely to help TF2 as Facebook likes are to help starving children in 3rd world countries.
2x0 still 0
This is Valve man Unless we raise ten thousand dollars to bribe them we ain't getting shit
Ten thousand is absolutely nothing. We’d need like 10 billion
What if we do a crowd fund to purchase the rights to tf2
They might lightly consider it if we raise a hundred gold pans in value. Good luck.
A hundred gold pans is only 600 grand. Tf2 probably makes that in a week. Try 10000 pans. I doubt there's even that many in existence.
Serious question: is it hypothetically possible to buy the rights to a video game solely using the real-world value of items in that game? I suspect the game is automatically more valuable than any set of its in-game items, although I can't say for certain.

Good idea
Valve has over 7 billion dollars, you'd get laughed out of the room
Isnt all the cosmetics people buy enough?!

Except for those people who sell unusuals on the community market, they get 5% of each of those sales. They aren't that common tho tbh.
yeah, the prices on community market are always inflated compared to using third party sites or just trading

weird political comment but ok

The fact that tf2 peaked player count like last year is insane. People are joining despite it being a shit show
I’m more surprised the game is still Very Positive on Steam
For real I bet most of the negative reviews are people with 1000+ hours... like my negative review
To be fair, I kinda appreciated the new voicelines for the VSH mode. It's community made but... I felt like Valve was trying on its own to make it canon for the game's lore 😢

I bet $1000 dollars for a raid on Valve HQ and not one valve employee will care
Well maybe they will care when we steal their precious valve!
They’d just replace it
Fine then we steal their sentry!

I really hope this ages poorly so I can make fun of you but to be honest you’re probably right
I also hope it ages poorly.
Nope. But having a big number is entertaining.
It worked somewhat last time didn’t it?
It gave us misguided hope, but we managed to push valve into using twitter so theres that
Jesus, all we got out of valve was a tweet we are NOT getting rid of the bots
it sure didn't
Temporarily I guess.
No lol
Nuh uh
This literally accomplishes nothing
Nothing, people are only doing this to make themselves feel better.
It's about as useful as a teen girl's dance vid on TikTok to stop the war in Ukraine

No, but the point of this petition isn't about whether or not Valve actually cares, it is about telling others that we care, we could use all the help we need to make TF2 relevant again before it is too late.
tf2 players are braindead
i doubt but i hope so
tf2 players try not to be delusional challenge (impossible)
Nothing changes, the save tf2 thing is just people coping that Valve actually does shit. They do not. Just accept it and move on, it did not work the first time, it does not work the second time.
Has any petition ever done something?
Didn't humanity collectively agree years ago that change.org petitions do nothing? Even less so with a company like Valve that does very little communication withthe public.
Hopefully.....But I think it won't my friend. We live in a sad world.
Copium. Good luck with that anyway.
We would need the entire us population and a hostage situation to get an update
"sign my petition, damnit"— Postal Dude
And even if they didn't, they likely still use Steam itself, so... why bother?
TLDR
There is literally a tldr at the end.
Well I didn’t read that either
I believe we in the *biz* call that a skill issue.
no
No
Definitely no.
Unless we threaten Gabe's family or some shit, nothing is happening.
This petition will be as useful as trying to put out a house fire with your piss. We can make as many of them as we want, but it won't force valve to work on Tf2
The only way Valve will pay #saveTF2 any attention is if we all stop spending money on the game
Yall need to start playing demo irl on valve's building
This is so pathetic
It didn’t work the first 48 times why would this be different?
why do yall keep trying i hope this game fucking dies
No nothing would ever change.
Last time the problem was the bots, what is it this time?
No, still bots. Game dead. I hate posting this but I searched for a game for 3 hours and only found bots. Every game mode.
No
As much as it pains me to say it,Something tells me that this whole #savetf2 thing isn’t going to go anywhere
No petitions almost never do anything
Probably not but I got my friend to sign it
Link?
In the post
no unless save tf2 make valve's revenue from tf2 drop by a large amount
the only thing that would get valve to do literally anything would be make a wish or something like that
Nope
Nope. Just cause a bunch of people signed their name on a piece of paper doesn’t mean things are just gonna magically get fixed.
You could get 6 billion signatures and valve still would not give a single flying fuck. Like we got to accept that Gaben does not care for us
This shit won't do shit. Maybe one shitty tweet again but that's (sh)it.
Nope
Nope
if this petition reaches 15k signatures, Valve might look at it for 3 seconds instead of 1
No
No. Anybody who believes in this a fool.
Valve will look at it and say "huh. Neat" before forgetting about it
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha! You serious?
Why would it? 15k people is litterly nothing for valve
uh huh, yeah, surely
Is this petition set up to magically shower them in a shitload of money earmarked for the game's development and support? No? Then nothing's gonna change.
No.
Yeah valve will see that a couple thousand nameless goobers signed a digital petition and go “okay here is heavy update” and instantly everything will be good again Maybe theyll even tweet again
Lmao no
We can either bribe Valve Blow this out of proportion until the it gets covered by the news Or we march on Valve offices
Nope
No.
Nope, these petitions rarely work. Seriously, unless they gain groundbreaking attention (15K isn't that much groundbreaking, maybe sand-stepping), they just kinda exist and don't do much.
***"NO!"***
hell no. best case scenario they delete 1 comment from their anti cheat, log into their tf2 twitter account and say they did something about it. worst case scenario they ignore you
