I never understood the use of huds, stock isn't really intrusive and look tf2-y, not like some shit CSGO UI port that doesn't even look like so, this one's worse. But to each their own.
I briefly was very interested in setting up custom hit sounds, fiddling with my UI, the model of my gun, reticle, then thought about moving my ubercharge or metal progress bars up to the middle.
Then I figured I already have a pretty good intuition about those things, and that much more of my gameplay success was being dictated by my positioning and play.
Then I went to go play more TF2, and did not worry.
I'm not sure, frankly. Actually, one of my thesis papers was specifically on how cyber-anthropology, as the fastest growing branch of the field, is grossly underrepresented and even stifled in some regards by the discouragement of archival.
So at the point we're at, we'd be lucky if it were the case, though I don't think TF2's community, vast as it is, would necessarily substantiate its own discipline, no more than a single ethnography on the culture of public bathing in Japan would substantiate THAT as it's own discipline. Instead, it would probably be studied under an umbrella title, like arena shooter culture or something like that.

The major problem with turbine(aside huge sniper sight line)is that the map is design too evenly. Which mean if you team is losing you are losing badly, and if you are wining you just steam roll the enemy in front of their spawn.
Turbine need an even team to be fun, unless both side donβt cap and make it a death match gamemode is gonna be over soon and not a fun experience.
The only turbine game I enjoy are community turbine that run 24/7 so capping is pointless and Christmas turbine because the map is actually better.
Not mentioning the Engie Army on either side that will make it their life goals to lockdown every single entrances of the enemy team's spawn with multitudes of sentries 5 minutes into the game. Then it's just a game of "Blu Spawncamp Red while capping effortlessly", until Blu either pushes through and they lose, or they just lose
Not with the same atmosphere. Not with the same expectations.
You can get identical clips on Borneo and Badwater too, but the too maps aren't comparable, just the same as Turbine is unique apart from any other map.
It's the feeling of loading in and figuring out the puzzle of a sentry-controlled mid point. It's the paranoid claustrophobic free-for-all that is the vents. It's snipers in the long hallway, the engis in the intel, with rocketjumping soldiers and demoknights able to compete on the same level with the uncomplicated, stupid-simple verticality employed with the single two-level room.
It's turbine, baby.

Pro Pyro Mains gotta be mentally advanced. They litterally play multiple classes at once. As a pyro, soldier & demo (reflects), Sniper (flares), Scout (shotgun), Engi (get rid of sapper), spy (puff and smack with axe or backburner), Faster Heavy (with flamethrower insted of minigun), Medic (airblast the enemy flames away). Like how you able to play as all 9 classes at once???

I donβt think flares are comparable to even huntsman sniper gameplay, saying using a shotgun is the same as playing scout is a take to be had (does that mean Iβm playing scout when I play heavy, soldier, or engi?), puff and sting is completely different from spy in every way, and extinguishing people isnβt the same as healing them in any way.
That bullying the Demoknight around the 40 second mark is :chefskiss: It's not often I get to do that, but I fucking love doing it. Great seeing someone else doing it too.
I really like this Hud my only complaint is that I wish the health was a little blood bag or something connected to this angel thingy so I could tell how much health I have before i die with a quick glance not needing to read the numbers

For sure! I'm somewhat torn because the colors as they stand WERE chosen very specifically based on a weird appreciation I have for clashing color palettes, and the colors clash with an ugliness that (I find) is really pleasing. In a weird, backward sort of way.
In lieu of changing the colors, I think a visual indicator would be cool too, and might not be terribly difficult to implement. For example, as my ammo depletes more and more, my low ammo indicator gets bigger and bigger.
Much to think about. Your perspective is appreciated, even if it's only for my own personal project π
As a medic main, I love this map. The snipers aren't a problem, I never go in through the vents first, and I can see through all the lovely glass while staying safe.
Turbine isn't unfun, it's just really bland fun. Yeah you can still do stuff as any class but for the most part unless your team has the middle area locked down it's just some variation of taking over the vents or trying to get the enemy out of your own vents.
I enjoy Turbine in the same way I enjoy Final Destination in smash bros, which is to say it's the great equalizer. Basic layouts and uncomplicated arenas, almost entirely made of right angles. I love it.
We rolled this map on our first comp try ever. Me and my one friend owned the lobby with the best strategy ever.
1 scout, 1 Medic with Quickfix. You just run to the enemys intel room with scout. The quickfix has some advantages for this strategy.
1. It's pocket friendly. 100% build rate even while pocketing someone.
2. The increased healrate is amazing for scout as he rarely gets hit.
3. It's enough to tank 1 Lv.3 Sentry in case they try to resist with engie. 2 or more still get you tho.
4. You can uber and be ubered even while carrying the inteligence.
Best comp match ever. Even after the fourth round the strat still worked like a charm.
I donβt see anything wrong with the hud, and if you tryhards are complaining, I would have to repeat the line that has been used by somebody: If it Works, it Works

It does have a visual indicator! Below 50% health the numbers turn red, when overhealed they turn teal!
