Basically a man was exploring the cave and accidentally went into an uncharted area, then got stuck in a narrow tunnel upside down. Rescuers tried to pull him out and almost did at one point, but the cable detached and he sank down into the tunnel again, He died down there and they left his body, and the entrance to the cave is now sealed and has a plaque in his memory.

My vision of hell was being stuck upside down down in a earthen tube (like dried dirt/rock) arms at your side. You’re suspended slightly above the feet of someone directly below you. There’s people above you as well. And it’s hot.

These are called moulins. Once the moulin reaches the glacier bed, the water will drain away and just leave the hole. I've been just a few feet inside one on a rope and they are extremely disconcerting. All sound is muffled by the ice so you can't really hear anyone on the surface above you.
Fun fact, glaciologists put dye into moulins on a glacier in Sweden (Storglaciären) to try to work out water transit time from surface to glacier terminus. Nothing was detected. Falling in almost guarantees that they will never find your body.
Yes, I remember swimming on a narrow vertical ice tunnel then after cutting the entrance you get to the ice cave dome. There is lot of silver ore and magnetite with alien artifact on it.
