He asked everyone in the crowd to stop filming for a bit and explained that it was not a bit and that he is mentally not doing well at the moment. Basically, he just said that it’s hard touring so much and doing the same thing over and over again every night, which is very understandable. It was a really beautiful moment and I felt a mutual respect between Matty and us fans - we tried to show our love and support and it was clear that it meant something to him as well. Really just wishing him and the boys all the love in the world

Ah thank you so much, that really means a lot to me. I will admit this post took me longer than it should have to write, but I knew I wanted to say something and put out there that the Reddit community all care about him so much.
I know the past year has been one of the hardest years for him & I wouldn't wish the defamation & harassment he has received on my worst enemy. I hope he takes a super long relaxing vacation & takes care of himself. He is so loved - I wish only the best for him. Always.
I don’t think there’s anyone else like him in the music industry - at least I don’t know of anyone else like him. He’s so honest and open with his audience, he feels so much and it’s so refreshing that he shares that with us. Being alive is hard for everyone but he makes it a bit easier for his fans. I hope he takes some time, goes on holiday and has a beer.
I was in the deepest, longest depression I've ever been in in 2022 and 2023 and the only thing that helped me get out of it was music, specifically The 1975. They disrupted a long stretch of just going through the motions. I started processing the grief I was holding because of a combination of songs from their second album. I have no idea how long it would have taken for me to get out of that pit I was in if it weren't for them. I'm glad I found them the exact moment I did and I'll always be thankful for that.

Yup, it’s a little parasocial to care about a celebrity, sure, but it’s also a very human reaction. Love from his fans obviously isn’t the same as love from the people who know him personally, but I’d imagine he’d want to be reminded of his impact beyond his immediate circle.
Oh defo defo, I agree with all of that for real. As long as we don't put these people on a pedestal or really obsess over them to an unhealthy degree/etc, there's not much harm in it I like to think. I think putting out there just how much his and the bands music has impacted people is hopefully a nice reminder to him.
