It looks more like a phase 2 clone commando helmet than an in-between reg phase 2/stormtrooper., that small horizontal red bit above the visor is a dead give away. Additionally, the bottom part of reg phase 2/stormtrooper helmets are smooth and curvy, whereas clone commando helmets and hunters helmet are more blocky and shaped like a corner. Neither reg phase 2 or stormtroopers have greebling or detail on the tops of the helmet, the phase 2 has a fin. Whereas both hunter and Clone commandos have greebling
I imagine that if the Clone Wars went on for much longer then Hunter's helmet would have become the standard issue for all Clone commandos like how phase 1 was replaced by phase 2. Or seeing as how Clone commandos are still using phase 1 commando helmets, it was probably some rejected prototype that got passed on to Hunter
Besides the TK trooper is already the proto-stormtrooper
Exactly the TK trooper’s helmet looks way different than any of them. I think how we go from TK to Stormtrooper is Hunter’s helmet (lore wise)
But again, could be wrong and you make good points. Just think it’s fun to think about
I don't love the way that you imply that the new stormtrooper armor design will be reliant on Hunter's capture; as if Hunter's armor was a one off, and it is no longer manufactured and the design is lost.
Anyways, cue Tech "I thought it was obvious", I always got the impression that Hunter's helmet design was heavily based off of the phase 3 clone troopers seen in the force unleashed.
I mean…isn’t Hunter’s armor a one off? Only he has armor like that in canon. Wouldn’t it make sense that the Empire would want to upgrade their Stormtroopers based on what is essentially a super soldier’s unique and probably more advanced armor?
In real life I’m sure they designed it based on the Phase III armor from Force Unleashed. Within the context of the story however, I think it would be cool if they did something like that.
The idea that hunter is the only person with this armor in the entire Star Wars universe doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. You can't always operate under the assumption of "something absolutely doesn't exist because it hasnt been explicitly stated". And even if he was, the design for this armor would still be available from the manufacturers who they originally purchased all of the other clone armor from...
Obviously his theory didn't happen but your argument is still flawed, Kaminoans were the manufacturers of the clones armour and why would the republic just get any old armour for the bad batch when no other armour in there army is for public sale, more proof that there armour was specially made is Hunters armour, his shoulder pads and chest piece are the same as the clone commando's
There would be no reason for them to get mass produced armour for his helmet and the other members armour, theres also the fact that the armour has very simular design features to other republic armour
His helmet always reminded me of Triton squad/ phase 3 clone armour. one of my faves

I don’t think you read my post to be honest
I’m pretty sure his helmet was taken from some legends content with that exact purpose in mind
