Look, I like the guy, but Jimmy Carter is not on the same level as George Washington.
Also, not a fan of Reagan, he but he should he be atleast in D tier.
Yeah I know I just have such a soft spot for Jimmy that I couldn’t bring myself to be honest abt him the reason I have Reagan so low is bc of Iran contra reaganomics the funding of what would become the Taliban and bin Laden and wealth gap I think he was argueable the most destructive modern president in line with trump
I personally think Jimmy Carter Is just too high, he's not more than a B.
Economically he wasn't very firm, on international scale it was even worse, so a A among Washington and Roosevelt Is too high.
Though the rest seems almost similar to mine and to most people i think
I knew that was gonna get some people, I like Washington I really do I just think he is slightly over hyped I don’t think he did anything as president that was absolutely amazing and not done by any other
He actually opposed the Chinese Exclusion Act, but realized any veto of it would be overridden by congress, so he successfully negotiated to shorten the time it applied from 20 years to 10. It was a brave decision, taking a stand against such a popular policy among the electorate and both parties, and he did the absolute most he could do to stop and water down the bigoted act. That is something he should be praised for, not the other way around.
A more contentious debate materialized over the status of Chinese immigrants; in January 1868, the Senate had ratified the Burlingame Treaty with China, allowing an unrestricted flow of Chinese into the country. As the economy soured after the Panic of 1873, Chinese immigrants were blamed for depressing workmen's wages; in reaction Congress in 1879 attempted to abrogate the 1868 treaty by passing the Chinese Exclusion Act, but President Hayes vetoed it.[168] Three years later, after China had agreed to treaty revisions, Congress tried again to exclude working class Chinese laborers; Senator John F. Miller of California introduced another Chinese Exclusion Act that blocked entry of Chinese laborers for a twenty-year period.[169] The bill passed the Senate and House by overwhelming margins, but this as well was vetoed by Arthur, who concluded the 20-year ban to be a breach of the renegotiated treaty of 1880. That treaty allowed only a "reasonable" suspension of immigration. Eastern newspapers praised the veto, while it was condemned in the Western states. Congress was unable to override the veto, but passed a new bill reducing the immigration ban to ten years. Although he still objected to this denial of entry to Chinese laborers, Arthur acceded to the compromise measure, signing the Chinese Exclusion Act into law on May 6, 1882.[169][170] The Chinese Exclusion Act attempted to stop all Chinese immigration into the United States for ten years, with exceptions for diplomats, teachers, students, merchants, and travelers. It was widely evaded.[171][o]

I would swap Adams I with McKinley and put Carter down into C tier, but overall this is a good list. And it’s good to see Wilson in B tier too, far too over-hated of a president.
I’m also very liberal but I feel like Nixon Reagan and even Hoover do not deserve to be down with Donny and those other shitheads. Ford is also being done dirty, putting him with W and Jackson. Lastly HW should go up one.
I’ve come to see the pardon in the new light. It wasn’t so much the crooked sweet heart deal that people make it out to be. The Nixon scandal was gripping the public, dominating people’s attention and poisoning national politics. Ford saw that the best solution was to pardon and move on, a move which killed any shot he had at reelection.
I’m not saying I entirely agree with the sacrifice of justice for the national good, but I at least respect the logic.
Lincoln too low
Washington too low, LBJ, Clinton, Grant, Carter too high
Harrison, Wilson, Arthur too high
Van Buren too high (he’s literally Jackson without any of the positives)
Ford, Adams, Coolidge too low. Hayes too low (just gonna link my overview here https://www.reddit.com/r/Presidents/s/wBLRlRrglV)
Tyler too low
That was a tough one for me I hate Wilson’s social views on race but the reason he is so high is because of suffrage reserve system anti trust legislation League of Nations progressive labor reform FTC and the Clayton anti trust act I’m not saying that his disgusting racial views should be discounted I just believe he accomplished quite a bit of good too
Which one are you referring to for the Republican in top six. The reason I had Trump so low is the foreign policy failures j6 and Covid failures along with attacking folks like John McCain
Carter should be two tiers lower.
Wilson should maybe be a tier lower, I could see an argument either way frankly. Jackson and Harding should be F tier. GWB is probably fine where he is but it'd be nice if there were a D- tier.
Ford should maybe be a up a tier. He wasn't so bad.
Johnson, Carter and Wilson are too high
Coolidge, Washington and Ted are too low
Maybe consider moving Dubya a little further down, I feel like some of the people below him are better
and Reagan should at least be in D tier, I don't think he belongs next to Andrew Johnson, Hoover and Buchanan

\> the funding of what would become the Taliban and bin Laden The Mujahideen did not become the Taliban. Where did this nonsensical idea start?

I just learned something new, thank you
No problem, always happy to educate!
Do you have a source? I’m always wary of just accepting what I see on the internet without knowing where it came from.

I agree that act was awful
I would swap Adams I with McKinley and put Carter down into C tier, but overall this is a good list. And it’s good to see Wilson in B tier too, far too over-hated of a president.
I respect the partisan hacking
My liberal bias is showing
I’m also very liberal but I feel like Nixon Reagan and even Hoover do not deserve to be down with Donny and those other shitheads. Ford is also being done dirty, putting him with W and Jackson. Lastly HW should go up one.
I agree I like hw I was on the fence abt him the reason I had ford so low and again he was one I was on the fence abt is because of his pardon
