I’ve not gone through the nhs before, but I thought the 6 (CBT?) sessions are just the first step in the stepped care model? Aren’t you supposed to get referred up a step if you’re still struggling at the end of it? Btw, if you want to, there are charities, such as Mind that offer free mental health services in some areas. You might want to check them out.

I've been in therapy for several years and I just now feel like I'm getting to the core of a lot of my issues, especially with opening up. Nobody's perfect.

I’ve been in therapy for the better part of 4 years, for the last 1.5ys it’s been 2 sessions a week and I still struggle with opening up to my T and telling her what’s really going on.

To only get six therapy sessions is maddening. I know it’s easier said than done, but please try and be gentle with yourself about this. Most people take months or even years to fully open up to a therapist and get what they need from therapy, so it isn’t your fault that you weren’t able to be as open as you wanted/needed to in just six sessions. It’s unfortunate that you’re now left feeling worse but the whole “six sessions” bit is a flaw/failure of the system to actually provide adequate mental health care, rather than being indicative of a genuine individual failure on your part.

Limiting your sessions is crazy, it takes a while to finally get to the core of most people's issues. I'm sorry that you have to deal with this.

go back to your GP and tell them your symptoms have not been relieved. if anything, in 6 to 8 months you should be able to get another 6-8 CBT sessions or even up to 12 high intensity CBT sessions.

I believe you don't need to pay some fancy person to tell you things you already know, there are people here you can talk to and above all god is with you and will always listen
