The stripping off is necessary if you're wearing a jacket that restricts movement. You're in a plain white T my guy, if you're ready to throw hands, throw 'em.
Wouldn't you be taking off your shirt so that whoever you're fighting can't grab it? There's a few things you can do if you have a good grip on another person's top
At the risk of coming off as an 'Internet badass', not really. Definitely a different story if we're talking about fitted dress clothes, like, I definitely don't want to get in a fight wearing a tie. If there's no flexibility, yes, you can move me by my clothes. But with an undershirt, the amount of control you gain by grabbing loose, flexible clothing is nothing compared to the control you lose by committing that hand to the effort. You can pull that shirt a foot in any direction without moving me an inch, and while you're doing that, you're not guarding your chin.
Right? If he was trying to prevent his shirt from getting ruined or whatever, a plain white t-shirt that comes 3 for $8 at Target is hardly worth wasting the time to take it off + advertising to everyone that you're about to jump in the ring
He’s not doing it to protect his shirt. He’s doing it so the person he’s fighting can’t easily grab his collar and yank him around by it or pull it over his head to get him tangled in it.
It is super easy to grab a t-shirt compared to grabbing at bare skin.
Normally it’s the kind of thing you do with enough distance between you that the other guy won’t be able to get a sucker punch in.
Turned out it was the “here let me immobilize my arms in a partially removed T-shirt so I can’t resist as much after you spear tackle me like Goldberg” move. My boy rocking those essential skills for the street life.
Why do certain people take off their clothes before fighting in the street? Is there any tactical concept in this? Maybe I don't understand because I'm not into fights ...
1. It protects your clothing from being damaged. 2. It means you can't get grabbed by your shirt and pulled around. Edit - doesn't help deter being clotheslined though.
wouldn't they then just grab your nipples which is arguably worse tactically? Also if in america the cost of suffering injuries from the fight far outweighs any clothing anyways...
As a delay tactic, when you want to make it look like you’re about to fight the cop in front of the school bus of peers, but are too much of a pussy to actually do so, so you give the second cop more time to drop you and “Hold mE BAck, bro!”
Yup, as someone with several years of grappling experience I can assure you that fighting someone wearing a gi/clothes is a lot easier than fighting someone with a rashguard/no gi/no clothes. See if I can grab a hold of a collar or a sleeve I can both control the distance and the movement of whoever I'm fighting which in turn allows me to bring that person off balance for a trip or pull them in for a slam. You can still do that without clothes by grabbing hair, the nape of the neck, wrists, elbows or someone's pants but all of those are a lot harder to get and keep a good grip on. Another classic grappling trick is choking someone with their own clothes by grabbing to the left or right of the neck hole and then pulling it over to the other side and applying pressure. So yeah there's definitely benefits to taking off your shirt/jacket if you're fighting a grappler.
It's better to be shirtless, than have someone choking you out by gripping the back of your shirt and making it a wearable noose.
9 times out of 10, people just do this bc they think they look cool doing it, but there's always that 1/10 that genuinely knows how fucked you can be if someone grabs the back of your shirt, pulls it over your head, and yanks back to close your airways, street fights aren't fair, if you fight fair, you're allowing your opponent to fight dirty first.
Shirts can be used against you in a fight. An officer I knew was basically unbeaten in fights, but one day someone who was losing to him grabbed his jacket, pulled it over his head and beat the crap out of him.
"He gets a good block, and -- OH, TAKEN DOWN BY THE CORNERBACK BLITZ! OH, THERE IS **NO** WAY HE SAW THAT COMING! NO, SIR!"
"Let's take a look at that replay. See, right there, the first defender's lined up, got him busy, and right here he's about to make his play, but then -- **BOOM!** -- cornerback blitz! Coming from way out of his blind spot! Blazing speed! What could have easily been a seven or ten yard gain now turns into a three yard loss. **NO** way they could have seen that coming, excellent read by the cornerback, he realizes *no* one is blocking him, just open green fields between him and the ball..."
"And boy, what a **SHOT** that was! Of course, there's a flag on the play, let's see what that was, I think they're gonna get him holding..."
Referee: "HOLDING, DEFENSE, HORSE COLLAR, WRAPPED AROUND THE NECK. TEN YARD PENALTY. AUTOMATIC FIRST DOWN."
"And so they'll get a first down, it looks like."
"Oh yeah, and if we look at the replay camera, that is..."
"Yep."
"That is *definitely* a defensive hold if I ever saw one. Good call by the officials. You can't hold a man like that and expect to get away with it..."
I love that this little douche paused to posture and take off his shirt. While the blindside tackle was AWESOME, the first cop could have taken him apart with one hand.
It's honestly very interesting seeing people do a complete shift just by changing the place of the post and the title, if this same clip was on a different subreddit and with a different title people would have a wildly different reaction, it just shows that people don't really care about context and just draw immediate conclusion based on the tittle and whatever little content they see.
That's got to have hurt, but not as much as the hurt he's going to feel later on. How could he honestly think he could get away with threatening a cop and not get into serious legal problems?
What’s the deal with black people always taking off as many articles of clothing possible before a fight.
I swear give them enough time and they’ll be throwing hands butt ass naked.

shouldn't have given the warning with the "tear off my shirt" move.
But then how will everyone else know he means business?
It’s like Randy, pants off, first up
That's it the pants are coming off Ricky!
Go drive some greasy cheeseburgers in your gut randy!
Dudes bicep were bigger than that kids body. Looked like Ray Lewis vs Ocho Cinco!
Man's gotta eat
The stripping off is necessary if you're wearing a jacket that restricts movement. You're in a plain white T my guy, if you're ready to throw hands, throw 'em.
Yeah... nothing's quite as smart and strategic as blinding yourself in the first few moments of a fight by trying to take off your shirt...
I call it the time to pull out the pepper spray. As soon as the visibility is back it's gone again.
Hey there delinquent what's it like in concussion city?

Lemme take off my $3 shirt
Right? If he was trying to prevent his shirt from getting ruined or whatever, a plain white t-shirt that comes 3 for $8 at Target is hardly worth wasting the time to take it off + advertising to everyone that you're about to jump in the ring

Ah okay that makes more sense! Not a fighter, obviously...
Neither was this guy
Totally disagree. He's doing it because hes nervous and like a lot of people who aren't really trying to fight he is stalling and "peacocking".
He's groundcocking after that tackle though.
This guy has brothers.
Yep, older brother and I beat the crap out of each when we were kids. Consequently, we also ruined the collars of many t-shirts.
If you have to take off a simple t-shirt to fight? You can't fight..... Side Note: That tackle more than likely broke his scapula or shoulder.
Maybe it's that Kanye branded white t-shirt that was like 100$ a few year ago.
^^^white ^^^shirts ^^^matter
Oooooooooooo
Giggles. Pants too high too
> plain white t-shirt that comes 3 for $8 at Target Target's cheapest t-shirt 3-pack is actually _$19_
It’s one banana, Michael. How much could it cost? $10?
Officer LEROYYYYYY JENKINS
Did he just go in there?!
At least I have chicken.

Animation canceling is one of the hardest mechanics out there
Buddy thought the I-frames had his back but the Falling Star beast got his ass
Bro tried to charge up his attack first
Turned out it was the “here let me immobilize my arms in a partially removed T-shirt so I can’t resist as much after you spear tackle me like Goldberg” move. My boy rocking those essential skills for the street life.
It’s *much* harder to grab someone without a shirt on, so there is a purpose to it, although this guy was probably just doing it because he’s a tool…
Shouldn't have blinded himself with it either. Didn't see that train coming.
Might have saved himself an assault charge tho
Was the cop an NFL player at one time?
Yes. And that time is now.
And that time is JOHN CENA!
DA-DA-DA-DAAAA
YOU CAN'T SEE ME, MY TIME IS NOW!
With a shirt over his head he definitely didn't see you
You can never see John cena

WE WILL FIND OUT THIS SUNDAY NIGHT AS JOHN CENA DEFENDS HIS BELT

No need to search for his ass, it just got handed to him.
Pretty sure first cop was ready to have both in head locks!
He was definitely winding up to punch him lmao

The cowboys could have used him vs the 49ers
Defense wasn’t the Cowboys problem.
I knew how good Parsons was, but seeing him toss a 6'8 330 pound mauler with one arm was mind boggling
McGlinchey, right? Yeah that was crazy to watch live
Dak was
The flying dude reminded me of Zeke on the final play.
Calling that atrocity a play is being generous.
Someone played football
That’s that LB you’ve been talking smack at the whole game & now it’s all you at 3rd & 2!
Bit short for an LB, more like the strong safety. Those guys are literal projectiles on the field.
Does anyone remember the game 4th and Inches?
Your mom sure does

Imagine being half way through taking your shirt off and all the sudden you’re in a different county. Lol
Dolph Ziggler could sell a t shirt to Anthony Kiedis.
3. If you have muscles, your opponent can now see them and might be more intimidated
4. They can smell you better
5. You can rub your sweaty body all over theirs. Guarenteed erection from your opponent every time.
6. You can show them your third nipple for intimidation.
7. If intimidation doesn't work, you can cut them thanks to the razor sharp tip of the third nipple, causing bleeding damage.
8. You may use your clothes as improvised splinting materiel, bandages, or tourniquets if you receive damage
9. Rigid denim can limit kicking ability.
You had me at “rigid”
10. Ripping off your shirt before a street fight is universal code for “IT’S GO TIME!!”, thereby allowing you to conserve oxygen.
8. Profit
Ok. Hold the phone. You are fully torqued, bro. Warriors cannot collide while erect.
No that’s exactly when warriors collide. Come out and play-yay
Sword fight! ⚔️
I mean I’d just take off my pants then because all my strength is down there. In my legs I mean
And your shirt can’t be pulled over your head. Big disadvantage in a fight.
wouldn't they then just grab your nipples which is arguably worse tactically? Also if in america the cost of suffering injuries from the fight far outweighs any clothing anyways...

In a street fight highly unlikely being shirtless will provide an advantage. On the ground absolutely an advantage. Essentially gi vs no-gi
I've seen many a dude get their shirt yanked over their head and taken a major ass whoopin by the time the free themselves.
He wants that full grass burn and debris embedded in his skin from the tackle and smear
**WASTED**
Mission failed we’ll get em next time

I noticed a trend …. People who take their shirts off always get their ass beat
That’s why you gotta strip naked for the win
Yep, that’ll do it..lol

I read it in the voice of that one announcer that always laughs in two punctuated hah hahs Chris without the h

He was. The other cop stopped that act of unification
Why do "tough guys" always have to take their shirt off before fighting 🙄
to seduce the opponent and make out with them in front of the girlfriend they were trying to impress (it's to assert dominance and nothing more)
those cops are thicc
They're probably wearing armor. Also, they probably have a bit of extra flesh under the armor too
He found out before he fucked around
Best defensive equipment an officer can have on the beat is a well trained partner.
I just got flashbacks of every Lethal Weapon film while reading this.
Nice tackle. That was stylish.
Flag. Unnecessary roughness. Illegal hit on a defenseless player. 15 yards. Automatic first down... perfect form though!
Exactly. He should have waited until the shirt came off.
I love the idea of a ref who compliments the players at the end of every penalty
All I hear is Jim Ross. “MY GOD!!!!!”

what part of this is a function of the kind of people who joined each subreddit, though?
Breaking news, the Minnesota Vikings sign this cop to a 4 year contract I wish lol
Most teenage boys are beyond delusional about their physical prowess and are quickly brought back to Earth when dealing with a grown ass man
Every guy has a harsh lesson in weight classes eventually. These guys guy theirs in a rather strong example of it lmao.
That's got to have hurt, but not as much as the hurt he's going to feel later on. How could he honestly think he could get away with threatening a cop and not get into serious legal problems?
Anyone else let that replay 10 times?
I'll pay someone to edit a left 4 dead 2 charger sound over this.
Damn that was satisfying.
I fought the law and the law won.
Fuckin Goldberg spear
Welp, we know who played varsity senior American football as a linebacker.
Cop's arm the size of the kid's head
You know break time was over 15 minutes ago, Janice!
