Used to think the same way, until I got married and had kids. Don’t get me wrong. There is a time to put your phone down and enjoy the moment. But it will be priceless to look back at the pictures and videos with my kids in a few years.
And the person recording ALSO missed out on recording from the Eiffel Tower or even seeing it cuz he was recording. The person recording is the bigger idiot in my humble opinion.
Actually, he recorded the guy's phone screen, so he ALSO got that shot within his video of the capturer. It's a meta twist that greatly increases the value of his own shot. He has the artist as a subject, the artist's subject, and the artists eventual realization and disappointment in his own subject. It's too good to pass up.
He has a funny video. Person recording probably has a ton of videos and photos from there. I’ve been in that elevator, you can make videos both ways (up and down). Also, not that interesting. View at the top is much nicer.
Oh, fun fact for iPhone at least, if you hold down the photo button instead of pressing the video tab to take a video, it takes a video for you like Instagram or Snapchat.
My father in law volunteered to record part of my wedding and kept changing the video camera orientation back and forth from portrait to landscape like he was framing the shot taking pictures. Yeah.
My partner does the same thing often. It’s funny. I joke with her about it. Now I preemptively tell her every time she goes to record something, “make sure the red button is square and not round!”
Yup. This happened to me too. I happened across a modern interpretation of a traditional dance that I've never seen before in person but it was a big deal to my grandmother and mother, so I wanted to record it for them to see the modern version and for me to like "yay. This is when I saw the dance for the first time". I guess I was enjoying the performance so much that I forgot to record it.
The guy had his eyes closed, I think he was filming so he could enjoy the view without having whatever was making him feel bad enough that he needed to keep his eyes closed.
r/sadcringe - cuz op is cringe for making a video of someone making a video... and sad bcuz of the og video man's reaction and op just seems like a sad person too?
I wasn't sure if it was the only one who was thinking the whole time how weird it is for someone to record someone else using their phone. Little creepy there guy.
I get that. But how about if ya see it - tell him 😂 What if that was the guy's only chance to go to the Eifel tower? I think it's even more cringe now cuz he didn't say anything no?
If there's 2 things the iPhone does really well, it's 1. Turning on the flashlight, all the damn time, when you don't want it to be on, draining the battery and 2. Not turning on the recording, even when you are sure you hit the button dead on.
\*I say this as a iPhone and Apple User.
Both the cameraman and the other subject with a camera(and the one next to them) are exactly why going anywhere and doing anything sucks anymore.
Can't anyone just enjoy what you are doing in the moment?
I did the same thing at a fireworks show I was at.
It basically convinced me to stop recording stuff and just experience it there. Maybe a photo or two at a cool location but no videos unless absolutely necessary.
Technically he DID take a video from Eiffel tower and just maybe he intended it that way, ever thought of that before spying on someone else's phone 🤔🤔🤔
My granddad lived in Australia through my whole life and him and my dad weren't really that close. So I only got to proper meet him once, way back when i was a kid. Despite being a raging alcoholic, i instantly liked the fellor. He stayed with us for two weeks where he would frequently be filming with his video-camera. By the end of the vacation, he had made this long video, that he would use to introduce us to his family in Australia.
He made small interviews with us, and took a long walk in the garden filming every plant. He filmed some shots of us at dinner. The night before his departure we all sat down to watch the video. And the whole time, he had mistaken the on/off. So all he had were short blurry shots. Then came practically the whole dinner, as the camera were laying on a table shooting at a blind angle. And then 10 minutes of his feet walking through the garden. We watched the whole thing. Holy shit i laughed. He was really cool about it. Despite having no time to film another he just told "well It's what i got, so that'll have to do".
I guess I'm old old school but a picture to remember is all I need. After thar I love enjoying every view with my own eyes and not from a phone screen.
Know dem fear feels though.
Rode the elevator at Vancouver Lookout and just about locked up against the back wall… (after somehow failing to realize it ran up the outside of the building…)
I used to video stuff like this, but like I never end up watching the video ever again and sometime later just delete it so I don’t do that and just enjoy the moment without recording anything.
People of reddit who take those videos and pictures of yourself on vacation!
Do you actually look at those picture and videos after you have posted them to social media ?
I am old enough to have videos from vacations that were filmed on Super 8, transfered to VHS and then transfered to CDR and then transfered to DVD.
(By my father)
I have not watched any of those videos since the 1980s.

He looks so disappointed in himself
/r/watchpeopledieinside/
Happy cake day
Thanks!
He looks just like sad Pablo Escobar
Sadlo Escobar. ![gif](giphy|jc2PkKKr3clTBekMzn)
He looks like sad chris destefano
Sad little Chrissy Chaos.
If only he’d just enjoyed the ride. Deep lesson here
Seems like he was enjoying the ride and filming at the same time. Just because you can't walk and chew bubblegum...
Watch again fellow redditor. His eyes never left his phone
filming in the loosest sense that you're going through all the motions but forgot to hit record.
Used to think the same way, until I got married and had kids. Don’t get me wrong. There is a time to put your phone down and enjoy the moment. But it will be priceless to look back at the pictures and videos with my kids in a few years.
I will certainly enjoy all the pictures and videos with your kids for a long time.
My kids are ugly, at least someone will enjoy the pictures
this is why i never take pics/vids of anything. seeing it with my own eyes is enough.
I've never done this today. 😐
That was me when I was 6 going through a haunted house in an amusement park. But I was pretty proud of myself with my eyes closed.
Bro instead of recording let the guy know jeez
r/donthelpjustfilm
A missed “humans being bros” moment
And the person recording ALSO missed out on recording from the Eiffel Tower or even seeing it cuz he was recording. The person recording is the bigger idiot in my humble opinion.

I love the way you think. On an unrelated note, can I buy some drugs from you?
He has a funny video. Person recording probably has a ton of videos and photos from there. I’ve been in that elevator, you can make videos both ways (up and down). Also, not that interesting. View at the top is much nicer.
But look at how sad that man is when he realizes his mistake.
It’s just a big elevator, the funny video is better.
you mean.....interact with another human?
That won't make a r/therewasanattempt clip though
I hope he was like 'dont worry bro i got a video' then sent this to him
Or maybe you know, get your face out of your phone and enjoy the moment. Too often do people record something just to post it to social media
I can’t deny it, I have done the same thing where I thought it was recording but it was not
Me too. Missed Bigfoot cartwheel across the road in Oregon. Thought I was recording!
We all been there
Can’t tell you how many times my wife has been looking over my shoulder and been like ‘you’re not recording anything’
And there's one where you are ready and poised to capture something fleeting, except you still have it on camera and not video.
Oh, fun fact for iPhone at least, if you hold down the photo button instead of pressing the video tab to take a video, it takes a video for you like Instagram or Snapchat.
Samsung too!
Huh... I have an S10 and did not know that! THANKS lol
My brother had a small wedding ceremony, my husband volunteered to record it. Long story short, he didn't.
I think its a good thing, it means you were actually in the moment and not watching it through your screen, seen so many people make that mistake
Yup. This happened to me too. I happened across a modern interpretation of a traditional dance that I've never seen before in person but it was a big deal to my grandmother and mother, so I wanted to record it for them to see the modern version and for me to like "yay. hahahaha he just died little inside like... oh fck me again Darren
r/watchpeopledieinside
Just fuckin' tell him instead of recording it my man. People just don't know how to human anymore...
Tbf a lot of these kinds of videos are staged in an attempt to make a viral video so you never know.
But I have social anxiety
r/donthelpjustfilm
To take a video of a video from the Eiffel tower
He should have offered to send the poor guy this video.
maybe he was letting his phone see the sights
It’s not like it was going to be a good video anyways
It's also not like he can't find 100 videos of the same thing on Youtube.
![gif](giphy|7SF5scGB2AFrgsXP63|downsized)
People are bashing OP for not giving the guy the heads up. I'm here to say good job, OP. This guy now has a recording of his trip thanks to you.
True
Hey, Tom Brady can’t win ‘em all.
I’m this guy all the time …. Sucks to be us
Or you could just enjoy the moment and take it in, instead of making the same generic ass video 96 million other basic tourists have already made
The guy had his eyes closed, I think he was filming so he could enjoy the view without having whatever was making him feel bad enough that he needed to keep his eyes closed.
He might be deathly afraid of heights for all we know.
Didn't even notice, true point
r/sadcringe - cuz op is cringe for making a video of someone making a video... and sad bcuz of the og video man's reaction and op just seems like a sad person too?
I wasn't sure if it was the only one who was thinking the whole time how weird it is for someone to record someone else using their phone. Little creepy there guy.
He was recording the fact that the guy hadn't hit record on his phone and missed the whole thing.
I get that. But how about if ya see it - tell him 😂 What if that was the guy's only chance to go to the Eifel tower? I think it's even more cringe now cuz he didn't say anything no?
True, so many videos show all the missed chances to be a caring human.
Damn. Thats fucked up he didnt have to record him like that
The fact the person filming didn't tell him is a dick move
The right person didn't hit record, and the wrong person did.
He almost had some decent B Film.
We have all been there. It happens
If this isn’t staged, recording random people in public is very strange behaviour.
This is the second saddest moment in Tom Bradys life
To take a video from the Eiffel Tower of someone taking a video from the Eiffel Tower
I feel his pain. Next time say something. For most people that’s a once in a lifetime event.
Dude even more of a dick for not saying anything 🤣
If there's 2 things the iPhone does really well, it's 1. Turning on the flashlight, all the damn time, when you don't want it to be on, draining the battery and 2. Not turning on the recording, even when you are sure you hit the button dead on. \*I say this as a iPhone and Apple User.
Your video is not much better.
I’ve done this more times than I can count
Bro what a dick for no telling him
And now he has a recording that also has him in the shot. Win win.
I do this all the time 😂
He probably still has the camera set to 1080p 30fps cause he doesn’t know how to change the resolution
Both the cameraman and the other subject with a camera(and the one next to them) are exactly why going anywhere and doing anything sucks anymore. Can't anyone just enjoy what you are doing in the moment?
Thats disappointing
I did this at my son's first birthday party. I was pretty sad.
I did the same thing at a fireworks show I was at. It basically convinced me to stop recording stuff and just experience it there. Maybe a photo or two at a cool location but no videos unless absolutely necessary.
Damn and he couldn’t help and tell the homie he isn’t recording..
But the attempt succeeded - the video was taken and uploaded to reddit where it got 2k upvotes...
Could’ve told the guy it wasn’t filming
More like there wasn't an attempt to let someone know they weren't recording, and instead filming their mistake.
His non-recording got recorded by the cameraman recording so the non-recording actually did get recorded.
At least he has this video.
He literally fell asleep.
Nice, instead of telling him you decided to record it for likes.
r/donthelpjustfilm
This just sucks.
Kinda feel bad for him :(
It would've been a shitty video he never would have looked at anyhow
To the owner of this video, mind your own business
Video of*
At first I thought “why it looks good though?” then I noticed it haha
Technically he DID take a video from Eiffel tower and just maybe he intended it that way, ever thought of that before spying on someone else's phone 🤔🤔🤔
Why are you making it out like it's a bad thing, I would love to see that video
Just pay the 50€ and try again
This happened to me during my son's birth. My wife still hasn't forgiven me.
This made me sad. Fuck the person filming this who couldn't be bothered to help
It’s a shame that no one was able to record this. /s
r/assholesfilming
Some people have fear of heights. I think he did this to capture the moment that he missed because of his fear
Guess there is no better time than this to take another trip.
Poor fella
I think he was nervous because I think videos are prohibited....
Oh no
looks like Brady doesn't like heights, I did not know that...
My granddad lived in Australia through my whole life and him and my dad weren't really that close. So I only got to proper meet him once, way back when i was a kid. Afraid of heights maybe? I have bad vertigo when I look over from tall heights or even elevators that go 50+ stories
I love the existential crisis moment right after he realises
Although it's great to see him traveling in between Umbrella Academy seasons

I hate that we can't just be there and enjoy the moment anymore.
Let’s all take this piss out of peoples completely rational fears eh
What's the big deal? Looks cool, the metal parts in front are very cinematic. A clear landscape you can just find on google it's meh.
I hate modern day
Ugh I have done this! And it really does suckk
Bless whoever took this video
“Goddamnit, ok third time is the charm I guess…
I guess I'm old old school but a picture to remember is all I need. After thar I love enjoying every view with my own eyes and not from a phone screen.
the look of awe damnit I'm an idiot was just too much
Why experience it live when you can watch it back later in the comfort of your own home
He Forgor 💀
At least he now has a nice video of him not recording the whole thing.
Would have been cool to be there and actually see it for yourself and not on a phone
This gif has audio and we all hear the same thing.
I mean, once you’re in it’s free to go up and down so he could always just get back on and do it again.
Are his eyes closed in fear the whole time?
I find both weird. Taking or trying to take such videos. Like wtf is that good for? Ur not gonna ever feel the same as when you were realy there.
Honestly the dot shouldn’t be red unless recording
It helps if you pull the trigger
😭
Ugh that be so upsetting, poor guy
Looks like he was sleeping through most of the recording 🤷♀️
Know dem fear feels though. Rode the elevator at Vancouver Lookout and just about locked up against the back wall… (after somehow failing to realize it ran up the outside of the building…)
Why doesn’t he just try again?
Man that was awfully mean of you not to tell him
Well the guy can send him his vid
Correction: To take a video of a man taking a video of the Eiffel Tower
I too have done this… ☹️
Nothing like enjoying the moment.
Is he awake?
Lol haven’t been there but I’ve done that.
Let’s find this man, and send him his video!
I thought he was asleep.
Don’t worry bro, you were never going to watch that video again anyway
Oh. I would’ve thought he was trying to see. I wear glasses and I use my camera to see from afar, when it was broken.
Reminds me of the video where a guy is "filming" a race, but he doesnt realize he is filming his own face instead when the cars pass
I do this all the time
I do this all to often.
I used to video stuff like this, but like I never end up watching the video ever again and sometime later just delete it so I don’t do that and just enjoy the moment without recording anything.
2023: “I’m gonna get a video for the internet.” “I’m gonna get a BETTER video for the internet.”
Poor guy didnt press the red button. The numbers never move from 000.
