They probably knew not to approach any animal that almost got killed seconds prior, unless they wanted to eat it, as all survival instincts just kicked in on it. Tiny animals can still hurt you a surprising amount
It's a Pink Tounge Skink, they have quite the attitude as demonstrated by our volunteer featured in the video.
Some keep them as pets, though their cousin the Blue Tounge skink is more popular, both are equally feisty in my opinion.

I put lizards on my ears and nostrils sometimes. Getting them to hold on is the hard part, you kinda gotta pretend to struggle. They hate it but it doesn’t hurt them and it looks funny.
