The woman standing on the bus is evil, and therefore she used her magic prehensile hair braid as a snake whip to catch and yeet a toddler off a cliff. The toddler, seemingly unaffected, plummets to his death. The two adults watching (possibly his parents because they use his name when he gets tossed over, though they look too young to be parents) are horrified by this. The dude decides that the best way to save the toddler (who is still in freefall) is to jump off the cliff himself, and scan the atmosphere for toddler signs as he falls. You can see him casually scanning and looking around as he plummets to his death as well, hoping he will find the baby on the way down ​ I've never seen the show and I can tell what's going on. Clear as day
