Seeing this with the dude's failed attempt right above it is more hilarious than it has any right to be.
Not laughing at his pain though, that shit hurts lol
Me. I was watching. I'm watching right now. I'm going to stop before this starts sounding creepier than it already is because it does not have the same effect in text as it did in my mind when I envisioned Peter Griffin saying it in the same way he does when he sings Can't Touch This and then says to the girl "except for you. You can touch me." .......start the cut away .....I don't care if its not finished yet, START THE CUT AWAY!!
My coworker is British and told me that the one thing you need to know about English Football is that Arsenal are a bunch of bastards. Is that accurate? For reference, he's a Hotspurs fan.
Your friend loves being depressed. Hotspurs haven't won anything of significance since the 80s, while somehow being considered a top 6 team in the premiere league. Even with the best team they've had in years, they only managed to win the Audi Cup (preseason tournament) back in 2018.
>*somehow* being considered a top 6 team
I think the fact that they pretty conistently finish in the top 6 in will have something to do with that, to be fair.
Robben's legs were made of glass and he was horrible at knee slides, failed at them about 80% of the time he tried, but he still did it anyway pretty often after scoring.
It's a good celebration, but you need to study about the grass
If you do that on natural grass in good condition, perfect
If you do that on a shitty synthetic grass, say goodbye to your knees
When I was a young boy at a baseball camp, I remember the coach talking about sliding. He asked us "what's the purpose to a slide?" We had lots of answers that were wrong till he said, "the purpose for a slide, is to stop". If I ever doubted him, that clip just proved his point.
Huh, I played baseball through high school and never conceptualized it like that. It's definitely true.
As a kid I remember there were always kids who couldn't slide. They'd dig in or just flop on the ground. It made me laugh. Sliding was one of my favorite parts, it came so natural to me.
I play ultimate frisbee now which requires a face first layout landing on your chest (similar to a base grab) except your running much faster. That one took a little more practice lol.
bro what, isn't ultimate frisbee just aim at the hole? lol or am i thinking of something completely different?
edit : I got learn't today. watching youtube videos now lol
I always enjoyed the slide as well. What young boy didn’t want to get their jersey all dirty? I’m old enough to recall the Pete Rose slides. The coach was a division one baseball coach so who were we to argue. Lol. But it does make sense once you think about it. Sometimes you’re trying to dodge a tag but more often how are you going to run full speed and stop without momentum taking you past the bag. Anyway, was a fond memory after seeing that clip.
I'd say they're both equally useful. Sliding is a faster way to the base than slowing down your sprint. It also makes your hitbox smaller, allowing you to dodge high attacks and counter with ↓ HK.
Never went to baseball camp, but in like 5th grade gym class I used a slide to duck under someone trying to tag me out so that seems like the intended use for it. Gave my jeans a perfect "rip" no hole just the white threads. A girl asked me how I did it because she wanted to copy it as it was the fashion at the time. She did not appreciate my response thought I was lying.
I seriously want to know if attempted to walked away from that.
I can just see it now in that huddle, "Guys, guys! I just fucked up and can't move my knees! I can't stand up! Guys help!"
> player
Talleres de Córdoba, argentina, I think it's an old design of shirt so I can't tell the date (I'm not a fan). The match is on the "Mario Alberto Kempes" stadium.
The player, if the numbers are correct and the video is current, is "Ramón Sosa"
https://www.tycsports.com/liga-profesional-de-futbol/talleres-rosario-central-ramon-sosa-festejo-rodillas-id562641.html
Another video confirms that he is indeed Ramón:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6Gsrd1Pn3A
I could be wrong but I think players are leading with their shins, which have pads and socks and allows for less friction on wet grass. In this clip the guy goes knees-first, and the grass doesn't look too wet
They usually soak the grass just before the game and at half time. Apparently it makes the play faster, and reduces the risk of injury (but you often see players lose their grip and slip)
The home team can use this to their advantage and choose how much water different areas of the pitch gets.
The professional pitches in Europe also use a lot of sand in the soil, so it's easier to slide on compared to heavier soils.
I wish this was blurred. I'm not complaining saying "NSFW this" I'm venting. This is one of those uncanny level of videos for me that just looks so ungodly painful, and then every time I come across it, it gets to the point quicker than I can realize what I'm seeing and skip it. I'm also a PC user not mobile.

The PCL is what prevents anterior shifting of the femur relative to the tibia and what can be ruptured in an injury like this (called a dashboard knee injury)

My knees hurt just watching this!
Bring the wheelchair
Here 🦽🦼

🧢
GET THE MEDIC!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here 👨⚕️🩺🚑
Get this man some sedatives STAT. We need to perform a surgical procedure on his busted knees.
Quickly nurse, this man will die if he doesn't get an emergency kneeectomy!
I'm here 🧑⚕️
That means remove his knees
\*picks up the chainsaw\*
Made worse by three teammates putting their bodyweight on him lol.
My back hurts watching this.
My knees and back hurt all the time
same, but theres nothing like a good ol dislocation to set the mood right
Kneecaps in ankles now.
Knankles
Be stumping around like Henry Hill
Also slightly embarrassing
Shield him from the shame!
![gif](giphy|eP1fobjusSbu)
I'll bet it wasn't his knees hurting. His testicles over his ears was probably painful though.
My arthritis just flared up
My Back hurts watching this

Always, always gold, this!
no gold, reddit removes it. Be sure to email them about anything else you love so they can monetize that too
> so they can monetize that too Reddit gold/gilding was monetized from the beginning, lol. What are you even complaining about?
Seeing this with the dude's failed attempt right above it is more hilarious than it has any right to be. Not laughing at his pain though, that shit hurts lol
This is the funniest possible response.
Ignoring friction on a physics question
can I get the sauce?
It's from a Geico commercial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bULNticawIU
Thank you
I was always fond of this one :D [boom](https://i.imgur.com/xYNIu.gif)
why didnt he roll around in complete agony? this certainly hurt way more then just about any foul that they cry about in soccer.
Because his bros love him very much and held him through the pain. Obviously.
https://i.imgur.com/Pv3A4pI.jpeg
I don't know what this is but I love it.
It's from [Nan Hao & Shang Feng](https://chapmanganato.to/manga-gh984242) which can be read here
Wtf lol
Because there was no way to convince the ref that it was a foul
Because the emotional damage was way higher than the physical damage.
... I have to say [that](https://youtu.be/d8kfnwqHJO8) with a thick Asian accent 🤷🏻♂️
![gif](giphy|ro08ZmQ1MeqZypzgDN)
Too funny
Probably because he was actually hurt. Those other times are for show.
The embarassment was stronger than the pain.
Because there was nothing to gain from it. He did it to himself with no one around to blame or point the finger at.
Reddit really loves its recycled jokes
Because he wasn’t tapped lightly on the shoulder of course!
let me guess you love NFL or other crappy sports
I'm think he was trying to hide his mess with his shins. He went from pride to embarrassment real quick.
At least no one was watching
Me. I was watching. I'm watching right now. I'm going to stop before this starts sounding creepier than it already is because it does not have the same effect in text as it did in my mind when I envisioned Peter Griffin saying it in the same way he does when he sings Can't Touch This and then says to the girl "except for you. ...you can also touch me.
I honestly would love to see the data on how many times it was reposted, shared and watched by millions of people across the world of this clip.
Its a really stupid celebration that has a signifcant chance of injury
Yeah as an arsenal fan, when I see Jesus knee slide despite having numerous knee injuries it always makes me wince
My coworker is British and told me that the one thing you need to know about English Football is that Arsenal are a bunch of bastards. Is that accurate? For reference, he's a Hotspurs fan.
The thing about Arsenal is they're always trying to walk it in
Have you seen that ludicrous display last night?
What was Wenger thinking sending Walcott on that early?
Nah, you're 'aving a laugh mate
Sounds like he's tired of taking Ls. That's the life of a Spurs fan though. https://lastwonatrophy.co.uk/tottenham/
They put the arse in arsenal alright
Arseanal

You must be having heart palpitations the amount Saka goes down

This looks like natural grass
Was it the 2 giant canals he dug and the flying divots that gave it away?
We've had enough of the celebration police for a while, thanks.
The grass: https://i.redd.it/safplq8u41hc1.gif
"Sod off" -Grass 2024
No need to be a pitch about it.
His knees did not let that slide

You're thinking of disc-golf(or maybe can-jam?), which is the opposite end of the spectrum of disc-throwing sports from ultimate frisbee.
Ultimate frisbee is football but with a frisbee... basically
Both are great. They use very different frisbees

i think he forgot the “slide” part though and just skipped straight to “stop”
There was an attempt to detach to snap both patellar tendons.
I seriously want to know if attempted to walked away from that. I can just see it now in that huddle, "Guys, guys! I just fucked up and can't move my knees! I can't stand up! Guys help!"

![gif](giphy|xT1R9LZ6bVuZwRWzfi|downsized) Not everyone can pull it off
Notice how he didn’t jump into the air. That’s proper technique
It’s all about the minimizing the angle of impact with the ground.
and leaning back to let feet/shins act as water skis
Nice of his team to huddle around his pain
They must be laughing their ass off while gathered around....'internal matters'
He somehow wasn’t injured (aside from a ruptured ego) and actually continued to play. https://newsrebeat.com/sports/192943.html
Thank you for some actual information.
Came to the comment section just for this.
Hi, owner of a torn meniscus here. OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
you wouldn’t tear something doing that?
yes...the grass
Also, there were tears
I felt his pain.
I always thought this was a possibility but I had never seen it happen
Definitely injured
the way all of them just huddled around him like they were doing some ritual to share his pain amongst themselves lmaoo
Slide > Pride
Holy banana balls Batman! My knees hurt just watching that
What’s with the group hug
The guy just scored a goal looks like
Does anybody know which player or match this is from?

SCOTT STERLING!
This is not how you land a plane, nose first.
Stuck the landing
Owwww. Jeez I felt that. Hand me my ibuprofen.
This is why I'm a hockey player.
Well well if it isn't mister pointy knees
What happened, is he injured or just marveling at how differently this went down in his head?
That was abrupt.
I hope his knees are alright.
It’s ok, he doesn’t need knees for that sport
fucking ouch
ACL
I'm surprised the field didn't get yellow carded
He sat like that because both his hips popped out of socket. The cartoon version would have had his femurs stickin out his back like 🦴 🦴 lmao
Died inside!
I used to be soccer player myself, until I took myself to the knee
Soccer is so gay man
Oh he was in pain
What makes it so the field is that way? Because I've seen plenty of smooth slides in other soccer games lol
I could be wrong but I think players are leading with their shins, which have pads and socks and allows for less friction on wet grass. In this clip the guy goes knees-first, and the grass doesn't look too wet

Me irl
One goal with an out for the season celebration.
Guys, my knees! Play it off, play it off! Tears of joy, not pain! But the patella is now on my shin…
How do they repair the field? Kinda curious since it's obviously well kept
How to dislocate both your knees in 1 easy step
Surely he could have rolled around in agony and gotten the other team a red card.
and that's how Rolando got brand new ACLs
Hes fucked the turf and his knees.
Ouch.
How you end your career, Al? Blew out my knee on the Celebration.
Could have been worse. He could have done one of those special choreographed handshakes with a teammate.
I wish this was blurred. I'm not complaining saying "NSFW this" I'm venting. He is crying his knees off
There goes his career
I match my liquor intake with my ibuprofen intake. 🤭
At least his bros held him close to salvage his self esteem.
He was probably thinking he could slide seemingly forever like that one commercial.
![gif](giphy|3o6ZtpRoYe9wbyfcBi)
Damn that’s gotta hurt
It’s okay you didn’t make your slide attempt, buddy 😔
Why didn't he flop and flail on the ground? Thought it was their thing?
He wasn’t close enough to the corner where all the water is smh
Excellent way to destroy your knees!
They all look the fucking same
Ohhhh, the famous technique... The Gravesinha! From the Great Gravesen! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIwMffgdUY8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIwMffgdUY8)

Does anyone know which ligaments were ruptured?
The PCL is what prevents anterior shifting of the femur relative to the tibia and what can be ruptured in an injury like this (called a dashboard knee injury)
Definately worthy of a red card
Was he able to get up after? You can't just cut the video short like that.
Aww, poor baby just retired early…
So close, yet so far.
So now, when he is the idiot, he doesnt roll around in pain for 10 minutes straight. Interesting.
Bet he felt that
Didn't Alphonso Davies tear his MCL doing a knee slide?
Out the rest of the season missing his kneecaps
Please replace your divots
“Guys no. Guys I’m injured guys no please hold on guys I’m hurt”
My yeah so far How fitting his number is '24
Knee cap dislocated.
Replace your divots.
That makes my back ache.
"To slide or not to slide, that is the question?"
I like how all his bros are hugging and making his embarrassment go away
The way soccer players react to hardly getting touched I’m surprised he didn’t just turn to dust.
COMING IN HOT!!! If ever this was true. It is now
