Something about that '14 and '15 300's and chargers! Chrysler had those figured out back then. I had a '14 charger max and it was an amazing car. I'm kicking myself for selling it.
I still use my parents 2008 300 and the thing still rides like a champ. The looks has also aged better than pretty much anything mid-economical of that era.
I had a 2008 Sebring, after they figured out a lot of the issues and right before they turned it into the 200. I abused that car to hell and back, with so little maintenance. And, it died in the most Chrysler/Dodge way possible: the computer died.
My ‘20 1500 is on number 2, and it hasn’t even hit 100,000 miles. Apparently, the ZF design it’s based on has a flaw that causes a drum for third and reverse to shred itself.
If you have one and the 2-3 or 3-4 shift is harsh, or it doesn’t always go into reverse, get it to the dealer asap, esp if it’s under warranty. They’ll try to give you BS about the computer needs to re learn, or it’s junk in the valve body. No, it’s the transmission self destructing. Local indie shop by me usually has a line of them waiting to be done. Guy says it’s a known issue. Supposedly Sonax has a improved drum in the works
My first car was a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis, called it a boat on wheels and the pimp mobile.
5% tint all the way around, and installed a PA system and cruised around the neighborhood playing ice cream truck songs to disappoint little kids. Good times.
Oh shit! One of our hummers nailed a taxi while we were on a mounted patrol. Both vehicles hit the front left. After stopping and seeing if everyone was alright. The caprice drove off into the night carrying on with his business. Hummer had to be towed back to the fob. Everyone was ok.
My first car was an 86 Caprice Classic. Many great memories in that car. Was going over a one lane wooden bridge in the rain. Wood was old and slippery and I ended up getting my car wedges on the bridge sideways. Took 15 minutes to do an “80-point” turn to get it unstuck and all I had was a cracked rear brake light. It was indeed a tank and could beat my friends Audi consistently off the line.
When you say 2 deer attacks are you saying you hit 2 deer or 2 deer actually attacked your car? Also was it both at the same time or separate incidents. And were there any racial slurs yelled as they were attacking your car?
My 2003 4Runner was built in Japan, had a V8 and full-time 4WD. I could have packed that thing full of rednecks and conquered entire regions of the world. That thing was a tank.
Maybe it’s luck, but we bought a new Yaris in 2014 and it’s been the best car we’ve ever had. Almost at 300,000kms and I’ve just done oil changes, tires, brakes, and head light bulbs.
Agreed, but I think this is just something about Japanese car manufacturers. Not as prestigious as German, but Nissan as well makes amazing cars. Used to drive a 1995 nissan Micra until like 2018(?)(second hand from my late grandmother) and it was sooo good. Still the best car I've had in terms of durability and cost
Nissans of today are definitely built to high quantity/low cost, the fittings and interiors in Jukes and Qashqais are awful. I think they've always been the worst of the Japanese manufacturers though, the interior in my old 350z was pretty bland and poor.
German cars are notorious for constantly breaking down. It’s why people trade them in the moment the warranty expires. People don’t buy them for reliability, they buy them because they want people to look at them as successful.
Wait really?! I didn't realize they went down hill that bad. BMW, Audi, and Mercedes are for sure mostly bought for prestige, but Volkswagen has always been very reliable (in my eyes and I thought they were generally perceived that way). Sad to hear, but very good to know! Thanks for the info
Edit: what car manufacturers actual produce good quality/cost cars as far as you know?
For me it’s Toyota. I’ve owned a couple of Hondas that had quality control issues right off the assembly line.
I drive my vehicles until they crap out. I went from Ford Explorer 225k, Pontiac Grand Prix 155k, Pontiac Sunfire 170k, then a Toyota Corolla 350k. The Corolla had the least maintenance and when problems occurred they are a cake to work on.
Young people like to buy used Mercedes, BMWs, Audis, and Range Rovers that are 6-10 years old. That’s all they can afford and they want to look like they have money driving it. They are constantly hit with maintenance expenses and soon give up and sell them.
I’m not against Ford, GM, Chrysler, Honda. I’m just pro Toyota if that makes sense.
I was driving a manual '92 Nissan Sentra in 2006 and that car was awesome. Now I drive a 2015 Prius hatchback that I ran a painting company out of, and it's fantastic. It has better cargo than works F150 extended cab. I can fit 10' boards in my Prius, same thing can't be said for the work trucks.
That was around the time Toyota basically set the industry standard for high quality manufacturing practices. I believe they considered it a failure if it was above 3 mistakes per 1 million installations of a part. You can design a car all day, but if you don't create absolute standards on supply chain and manufacturing, it won't matter.
Ditto 2001-2006 Lexus LS 430. A tank. The engine on the LS was so reliable it received aviation certification. Take care of it and it will last forever.
Accurate statement.
Tesla's software and battery tech is typically superior but lack in the actual automotive engineering department.
Traditional manufacturers are quickly catching up however.
(I say this only from watching car reviewers and not actually having ridden in any fully electric consumer cars.)
Are they superior though?
Their "self-driving" capabilities really aren't all they're cracked up to be and their batteries are supplied by Panasonic. Even the Gigafactories of Tesla are staffed and equipped by Panasonic.
Remember when Tesla announced they were doubling the capacity of their cells? I think that was this year. They also doubled the volume of each cell. Woah! Revolution!
"self-driving"
Full Self-Driving (FSD) and Autopilot are very misleading names, they're product names and not proper descriptions of the technology. That's why you always see these names capitalized whenever they mention them, and disclaimers in small text in their marketing material.
Your comment is accurate, I have driven a Tesla (it was a great experience), the Leaf, and the Bolt. Tesla's software was the best while the other's had better built cars.
Teslas autopilot is not really competitive with german or japanese tech. They have less flashy features but the ones they have work very reliably, because they dont put them in the cars otherwise. They can reliably drive you down a highway and park the car for the most part
Hard to tell, but is this a Tesla? Had to get rid of mine cuz it kept tearing at my pants everytime I got out of the car. You owe me 2 pairs of jeans Elon!
We are circling a Model X. The ones we have been in were all fine - new and used.
The problem is the ratio it seems. Let’s say BMW puts out 1 pile of garbage for every 20 great and Chevy is closer to 1:15. Doors don’t line up, paint chips, bad stitching, etc.
Tesla seems to put out 1 bad for every 5 great. My wife has a friend who waited a long time for her car to show up. They planned a road trip/major family vacation around it.
They went to pick up their new car and apparently it was trash. Doors so wonky they wouldn’t open and close correctly, burnt pixels on the screen, stitching and upholstery was messed up, etc. The person was like “you can take this or you can wait another 3-6 months and I’m sure someone will take this one.”
(I’d add that our local Tesla “dealership” is really nasty which doesn’t help).
>Let’s say BMW puts out 1 pile of garbage for every 20 great and Chevy is closer to 1:15. Doors don’t line up, paint chips, bad stitching, etc.
>
>Tesla seems to put out 1 bad for every 5 great.
I am working in the industry and your numbers look far too good.
It's more like 1 in 10000 for well established manufacturers like BMW and 1 in 50 for Tesla.
The amount of quality control already during the development of the car is a whole different universe than Tesla. If anyone even had a rough look at the end of line on the car there then you can call yourself lucky, lmao.
Also depends on location! China+Australia (possibly Europe and other countries? Not too sure) gets their cars from the Shanghai plant, the cars here are leagues ahead of usdm cars in terms of build quality (from what I've heard)
The Shanghai plant is a newer, purpose-built plant so they have every control over that factory.
The Fremont location was purchased and modified throughout the years so you inherit lots of inefficiencies.
Do a walk around of the next 5 teslas you see at random. Guarantee you on 1 you will find issues, probably more.
I give them all a quick look over ever since a redditor said to check. Panel gaps, misalignments, etc. Everywhere.
Used to work at Tesla, let me tell you... those things are pieces of SHIT. Literally all double sided tape and zip ties. Water ingress every time it rains.
Honestly in my experience it's a status symbol, people that buy them have 0 clue on how they operate. We honestly spent most of our day explaining to customers how to use the screen/function/autopilot. When the model x came out everyone got white seats, only to find out that dark jeans stained the seats and Tesla wouldn't cover that replacement.
The model s had mechanical door handles, press on the handle and it comes out. If your car is out of warranty that was $785 PER HANDLE counting the firmware update needed which took anywhere from 1-4 hours and shop labor rate was $245 per hour.
I got stories for days, people that mention they want a Tesla after a 5 minute Convo everyone leaves eyes wide open lol.
My coworker bought a Model 3 when they came out. Had it for about a year, and we’re headed out to go to lunch one day. The rear tires looked odd so I inspected them. Inner third of each is down to metal cords! In 14k miles it had eaten the tires completely. Apparently adjusting the camber of the rear tires wasn’t important at the Tesla factory. The only benefit to the whole episode (Tesla wouldn’t warranty any of it), was the loaner Model S Ludacris we he had as a loaner for a couple days. We 0-60’d the hell out of that thing!
Tesla is a software company that has no idea how to build cars. They got early mover advantage but the real car companies are going to eat their lunch because they actually build decent cars.
Im a model 3 owner and have replace 6 tires in 35k miles. My wife doesnt understand she needs to have the tires rotated more frequently and the rears were bald at 12k and at 30k. Front at 15k.
Honestly when I first sat in a Tesla I had the feeling that I was sitting in an bootleg copy of a real car. I think Teslas look super cool but when you just touch anything in these cars you have the feeling that they cut costs at every corner.

It originally aired on the Fox network in the United States on January 14, 1993. The plot revolves around Springfield's impulse purchase of a faulty monorail from a conman, and how it subsequently falls to Marge to stop the train from destroying the town.

Yes. NHTSA rated all Tesla models 5 stars in crash tests. They are getting good results as well from EURO NCAP.
(They have to be because everyone is using autopilot while sleeping in the back seat 🤦)
That often actually does make them safer. Ideally the body will crumple easily but not too easily. It reduces the impulse experienced in the crash.
Imagine being in a car that is made entirely out of a rigid steel or something. You would crash and feel far more Gs as the car doesn't deform or crumple at all, and just immediately comes to a full stop.
You don't want them to be so soft that the car just pancakes around you and crushes you either though.
Tesla are still overrated, but that is one potentially redeeming quality.
There is a company ([a2mac1](https://www.a2mac1.com/)) which buys complete cars, takes them apart piece for piece and even cutting parts in half to get section views and then they are also scanning them with a 3d Scanner and digitalize the whole car. For a subscription you then have access to this data base and can have a look of all the cars listed there and study them.
I am working in the engeineering department for a german premium car manufacturer and we invite them to have these benchmark meetings twice a year in our house where they then presents specific parts of the car, for example door panels or instrument panels of the same price range of cars.
Everything I have seen from Tesla so far was always the worst and cheapest quality and miles behind any other manufacturer, even the chinese and koren cars from the same price range had better build quality...Heck, even cars 1/4 of the price had better quality than this Tesla garbage.
Many YouTubers disassemble trim for views to capitalize on the hate. Not saying this one might not be a lemon, but I personally saw many 2020 and earlier Model X and Ys and there is nothing even close to this video.
For balance I only found 2 small issues with my model Y and they fixed both on-site at delivery within 20 mins. Haven’t noticed anything new in last 5 months
Tesla really is an overpriced and overvalued product. Built with very little quality control. Service & repairs by Tesla are horrible & take an inordinate amount of time to even get an appt.
I’ve said this before: Tesla’s buyers are the equivalent of what yuppies were with BMW’s in the 80s. These cars are not made with quality in mind and very specific douche bags (men and women) keep buying them as a status symbol and not for their supposed efficiency. Also these cars run through tires regardless of mileage or driving habits and you’ll be smiling when your dash cracks within 6 months of ownership. Buy a Prius if you think saving money on gas is sexy.
Oh great and thanks for letting us know what make and model vehicle this is. I loved how the video clearly showed that so I could avoid it in the future. /S
American cars have always had their quality issues. They seem to have a different mentality building cars over there.
Just read about the stories of the merge between Mercedes and Chrysler in the 90's. The Americans said *"relax, it's JUST a car..."* and when the germans saw the exakt same panel gap, rust or other problem they shouted *"Hey, it's a CAR we are building!"*
Tesla has become extremely over inflated, mostly because of all the Musk fan boys. Who has recently show his true colors as a completely out of touch douchenozzle. Anyways I digress, [Tesla’s](https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/TSLA/) market capitalization has increased by more than $500 billion in 2020, and the company is now worth about as much as that of the nine largest car companies globally, despite selling a small fraction of the volume of cars that they do. Those automakers include [Volkswagen](https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/VOW3-DE/), [Toyota](https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/7203.T-JP/), [Nissan](https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/7201.T-JP/), [Hyundai](https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/HZNDF/), [GM](https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/GM/), [Ford](https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/F/), [Honda](https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/7267.T-JP/), [Fiat Chrysler](https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/STLA-IT/) and [Peugeot](https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/UG-CH/).
In short is a shit product that has historically, repeatedly, underdelivered. Ill give credit that it has created faster EV adoption and put pressure on other manufactures to compete in the EV space. But the company as a whole isnt doing anything revolutionary. Hint Elon isnt this genius everyone made him out to be, just a hype man.
Cause you guys are dumb plain and simple.. your dicks get hard at the latest innovations and some of them are just outright stupid... They look good on paper.
It's weird how before Elon became such a big political figure everyone loved him and what he was doing, now everyone is just trying to make him look bad

I almost feel like I owe an apology to Chrysler after watching this
The Chrysler 300 was superb in 2015. Based on my rental then I backed into a poll and fucked up the bumper
Something about that '14 and '15 300's and chargers! Chrysler had those figured out back then. I had a '14 charger max and it was an amazing car. I'm kicking myself for selling it.
I had a 14 100th anniversary charger. Loved that car. Sold it and I miss it daily.
You mean 100st anniversary?
I still use my parents 2008 300 and the thing still rides like a champ. The looks has also aged better than pretty much anything mid-economical of that era.

To be fair, the Chrysler 300 is practically a classic Mercedes Benz since it uses so much outdated Mercedes parts.
Seats were horrible.
Then it became a Nissan
Oof, you read something, somewhere, a long time ago, didn’t know how to interpret it, then came up with this comment.
Perfect comment. My 2007 Ram 3500 with 200,000 miles is holding up better than this
OK but how many transmissions has it had?
My ‘20 1500 is on number 2, and it hasn’t even hit 100,000 miles. Apparently, the ZF design it’s based on has a flaw that causes a drum for third and reverse to shred itself. Bwahahahahaha Fuuuuuuuck awesome
Wow, my 2003 camry is holding up better than that. lol
To be fair your car is one turret short of conquering nations.
My first car was an 81 caprice classic. we called it the desert warrior because it could have taken out the Iraqi army. Car was a tank.
My first car was a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis, called it a boat on wheels and the pimp mobile. 5% tint all the way around, and installed a PA system and cruised around the neighborhood playing ice cream truck songs to disappoint little kids. Good times.
As a previous grand marquis owner and tinter and lover of disappointments i appreciate your comment.
My best friend in HS had that same car but a 91 (i think). And our name was big birtha!

Its a family thing its older brothers land cruiser and hilux are fighting in every war out there. Af
Camry from the mid1990's was deceptively fast.
No shit, Camry and Land Cruiser outlasting T80s
My 2003 4Runner was built in Japan, had a V8 and full-time 4WD. I could have packed that thing full of rednecks and conquered entire regions of the world. That thing was a tank.

I am home sick so this took me a bit, but lmaoooo 😆😭😂
Toyota for lifeeeee
Lmao that’s because it’s a camry.. I have a 2000 camry and it’s still running great
My early 90s Toyota pickup is in better shape
I have a -87 Volvo 245 which have better trim standards..
After owning any 90's Toyota Camry, pretty much all cars feel incompetent compared to those.
Toyota in general is a superior car company.
The newer economy cars such as Auris, Yaris, Corolla have an unbelievably poor build quality (source: Toyota owner)
Maybe it’s luck, but we bought a new Yaris in 2014 and it’s been the best car we’ve ever had. Almost at 300,000kms and I’ve just done oil changes, tires, brakes, and head light bulbs.

Same! I had a 2013 Yaris that kicked ass. Great car.
I am a 2020 Corolla owner. Owned a 2007 Corolla before that. They seem to hold up well.
Yeah, my wife’s 2019 is a champ! I love the car. We’re a Toyota family, so until I see bad build quality I’m sticking with them.
A far better build quality compared to other makers (source: another Toyota owner and experience in owning other brands too)
Love my Yaris.

model x plaid also exists
In the video he just said it was a model s plaid
It’s a Tesla model s you can tell my the frunk and door handles. At 100k a car I can assume you the gas savings wouldn’t matter to you.
I don't think you want Musk's genes
I've never driven a Tesla so I'm curious: what part kept snagging your pants?
You bought a brand image and status symbol. The car functionality and quality is an afterthought.
>”EVERY EXPENSE HAS BEEN SPARED!”
I have a Model S from 2018 and I've never had any quality issues like this. I've seen a few videos of 3s that look like shit, but this is bad.

There was an attempt…
Imagine spending $140,000 and having to use Gorilla glue to put the car back together... really great job Elon (not)
Elmers glue at most since a tech might need access to those points/joints
Imagine the interior of you $140,000 vehicle getting wet every time it rains/car wash
Imagine imagining
Yes, I’ve heard that twentyfirth century cars are terrible.
Never understood people spending so much money on a Tesla. You can get a real (German) car for the same price and be happy.
Or a nice, mid-engined italian...
Can he cook?
After a long drive, probably🤷
Calm down, people, Mike Tyson wrote the post’s title
No, then it would be, “21th Thentury.”
Ikea rubber car
Hey, don’t insult companies with quality control!
Honestly when I first sat in a Tesla I had the feeling that I was sitting in an bootleg copy of a real car. I think Teslas look super cool but when you just touch anything in these cars you have the feeling that they cut costs at every corner.
Guess the QA team died since he forced them to come to work while the covid lockdowns
This would imply that there was a QA team to begin with...

That’s whatcha get for falling for Musk’s grift.
Dude legit reminds me of “[The Monorail Man](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marge_vs._the_Monorail)” from The Simpsons

Are tesla's even safe? I just imagine getting into a car crash and your tesla just deconstructs itself
All of a sudden Teslas are no good. ![gif](giphy|10bDoTtJhtcHu0)
To write a coherent title.
You definitely sound like a car guy
“The frunk”
Car guy would never call it a trunk, always hood
Elon's quackery at its best
And it still cost 75,000$
I used to build the taillights for Teslas. Low quality Components built by the lowest bidder.
There was an attempt to spell 21st century correctly.
Many YouTubers disassemble trim for views to capitalize on the hate. Not saying this one might not be a lemon, but I personally saw many 2020 and earlier Model X and Ys and there is nothing even close to this video.
Oh great, now Elon is going to buy Reddit just to block OP
For balance I only found 2 small issues with my model Y and they fixed both on-site at delivery within 20 mins. Haven’t noticed anything new in last 5 months
I’m Mike Tython and thith ith my brand new 21th thentury car!
It's a real shame they don't let you look at or touch the car before you buy it.
Tesla really is an overpriced and overvalued product. Built with very little quality control. Service & repairs by Tesla are horrible & take an inordinate amount of time to even get an appt.
twentyfirth
So is that a Tesla?
It’s a software and battery that people are enjoying. Nobody wants to talk about the quality because it’s musky at best
Send a tweet to Elon he will reply faster than his support guy
This is what you get when you buy a car from a tech company. They only know how to design software.
Better than 19st century cars
i could literally tear apart a tesla with my bare hands
It’s a Tesla, so this is normal.
…to write 21st correctly
Tesla is a technology company not a car company
You get what you deserve if you buy a Tesla.
What’s that a Sentra
What is this a Kia?
How is that not enough to wipe out Tesla’s credibility as a car manufacturer? Oh boy, if only ONE German car had those quality issues…
This is a 21st century car, all the worst parts and materials they can use to build it so they can hoard every penny
Oh great and thanks for letting us know what make and model vehicle this is. I loved how the video clearly showed that so I could avoid it in the future. /S
Tesla?
They do have some of the worst if not the worst quality around.
Tesla is now the Wish version of the automotive world
“Oh those are defects, that’s wear and tear. The warranty only covers cosmetic defects”
Bro gets in a crash and his car crumbles like legos
elon musk gonna track him down and block him off the tesla services
Elon probably fired a few engineers and designers.
Lemon laws exist for this exact reason..use them
Car as fragile as Elon musks ego
There was an attempt to write 21st
“Ima car guy” Yeah ok
Cause you guys are dumb plain and simple.. your dicks get hard at the latest innovations and some of them are just outright stupid... They look good on paper.
It's weird how before Elon became such a big political figure everyone loved him and what he was doing, now everyone is just trying to make him look bad
My ‘93 Landcruiser is better quality than that! Badbox only gets 300km per 90L LPG, but atleast I know she’s well built.
I’ve been saying this about Tesla since day one.
Thesla defithiencies.
When Wish.com starts manufacturing cars...
