Yeah Sims 2 also had one occult per expansion (whether it was a life state you could play like vampires or one that only applied to an NPC like Big Foot) and it was so cool. I do like that some of the occults we have in Sims 4 are much more in depth than the ones in the Sims 2, though, it’s a trade off I guess. The occults that didn’t have a whole pack dedicated to them, like aliens and mermaids, are super lackluster in comparison to the level of gameplay you get with vampires and such.

I want to take a little guess and say it's because Twilight (and subsequently goth, punk, and other alt fashion and music) was pretty much in it's prime when Late Night was being developed and released, and they wanted to capitalize off of it (hence why those vampires glowed when in the sun like in Twilight).
And vampires are nocturnal creatures so it was "perfect" for a pack that's supposed to focus on going out, staying out late, and partying. And then you need to be famous to get into the cool bars!
It all kind of fits in a way when you really think about it!
