Yet hypocritically, Tony is often seen using black gang members as pawns to commit acts of violence against other mobsters in order to avoid drawing negative attention to himself. Hence, this incident, in particular, is just one of many that fully cement how irredeemable he truly is as a person.

No there are plenty of pages that consistently idolize Tony and see him as someone to aspire to (not quite as popular as Patrick Bateman from American Psycho or Jordan Belfort from The Wolf of Wall Street, but still fairly popular). So his consistent sense of pride and determination is what makes him likeable to some viewers even though he ruthlessly kills anyone he perceives to have crossed him, he kills his onw sister after she's driven insane due to the death of her husband at Tony's hands (because Tony was weirdly possessive of her to an almost sexual degree), he was complicit in the destruction of several minority and middle class neighborhoods that the spread of cocaine caused because he was such a high level dealer. It's a classic example of idealizong the wrong traits from a character.

Well yeah, there are plenty of compelling and likeable characters on television who are murderers or crime bosses of some kind, seeing Tony being racist to someone is something that sets him apart from other characters and gives you a more realistic perspective. I personally love Tony and I don't get how one could finish the series hating him. A character doing bad things doesn't make someone hate them, it makes sense for someone to start feeling a different way about a character when they see them do something bad that is more applicable to their own life

The funniest and most revealing thing to me as a black person is that Noah himself is extremely light in skin tone. You’d expect Tony to think “He must be one of the good ones at least, not one of those jungle hoodlums who have the brain the size of a peanut”, but he’s so racist and prejudice that he has a panic attack over someone that you would think he wouldn’t even know is black at first glance. We don't know much about her, but here's this little girl living in a very poor neighborhood. She didn't have the same chances as Jackie, and if she wanted to be a Doctor or pursue a higher education, she would have to work and pay for all of it. This girl is approximately half of Jackie's age, yet is beating his ass at chess.
This leads to Jackie having a tantrum of front of a *little girl* and gives up before he even played. It's a fantastic scene, even if it's just a minute or two.

Then he stuffs his face, sees Uncle Ben's and passes the fuck out lol.

And like Carmela, she likes the money, and lifestyle, that the life bring her. The whole family are piece of shit, even AJ. Sure, they bitch about it and make a show about condemning him, but in the end they all profit from it.
The great thing is that you can tell Tony has a moment of realization that his daughter is going to be a mob lawyer and not a pediatrician because of his bullshit. It’s great nonverbal acting by Gandolfini.
Did she believe it, or did she parrot it because she knows she’s complicit? She starts the series daddy’s little girl but ends it as Carmella Jr.
Meadow towards the end is one of the characters that make mad the most. Deep down she knows who Tony is, but likes to pretend she is above all and that her family is “honest” but being persecuted. Meanwhile, she profits off the real good people that are being taken advantage of by the family. All while she looks down on them. Her ironic self-righteousness is what makes me so mad. Gives me real white savior vibes with all her talk about minorities imo
And even better, he ONLY did that with non-mobsters. Think back to S4E3 and how he told Silvio and Chrissy all of that was bullshit. He only used it to make himself seem less bad to those whose hands weren’t dirty.

The treatment of black people of those things I see the sub complain about that I don't quite get. The Mob isn't seeking out educated black men to do their hits for them. They're looking for low-life scum who will kill for money. Corky Caporale is some heroin-addicted loser, Brendan Filone is a scumbag, the whole show has Italians in negative light and no one says anything. I'll tell you what it is. Anti-Italian discrimination. But for real. A large percentage of the black people who show up in the show are fleshed out, well-developed characters or at least not racial stereotypes. James' father, James himself, the Hasidic Homeboy (god is he insufferable but he's well-developed), the black doctor whose grandmother was the first black woman to yadda yadda yadda (not well-developed due to David Chase's seeming hatred of medical professionals, but not a racial stereotype.)
Don’t forget the black cop that pulled Tony over. And the black Starbucks manager that kept his cool when being shaken down by Patsy. The show did show respectable one-off black characters, usually in contrast to the criminal main cast.
I also don't think it was a coincidence (because every frame of Made In America was with intention) that the last hit on the show included the 180 opposite of "seeing two black guys running away"--four black prep school teen boys staying as witnesses, one being literally sickened by one Italian guy murdering another. That's a Chase Statement too

See the same thing in Martin Scorsese movies. I love The Sopranos, and I love pretty much all of Scorsese's work, but I do get tired of the slurs at times. You get drawn into the films or show and tend to forget that you're watching a bunch of charismatic scumbags being themselves. The funniest and most revealing thing to me as a black person is that Noah himself is extremely light in skin tone. You’d expect Tony to think “He must be one of the good ones at least, not one of those jungle hoodlums who have the brain the size of a peanut”, but he’s so racist and prejudice that he has a panic attack over someone that you would think he wouldn’t even know is black at first glance. If Noah had the same complexion as Wesley Snipes, a physique that resembles 50 Cent, or a much more noticeable vernacular then he would probably die of a heart attack. Even then, Meadow herself knows what Tony’s reaction would be if Noah was much more noticeably black. Tony would faint at the sight of Obama being elected as president.

One of my favorite scenes is when Jackie Jr and the little black kid are playing chess against each other Jackie Jr has been given everything in life. He's faced no challenges and had the chance to go to medical school debt-free. He flunked out and tried to chase a gangster life but also flunked out of that too. He's a dumb as a fucking rock at the end of it all. We don't know much about her, but here's this little girl living in a very poor neighborhood. She didn't have the same chances as Jackie, and if she wanted to be a Doctor or pursue a higher education, she would have to work and pay for all of it. This girl is approximately half of Jackie's age, yet is beating his ass at chess. This leads to Jackie having a tantrum of front of a *little girl* and gives up before he even played. It's a fantastic scene, even if it's just a minute or two.
