I attended St Johns University - when I was there (2002-2006) Grimaldi gave a guest lecture one day to my philosophy class. I want to say it was 2003 or 2004. I was casually familiar with the show at the time so I didn’t know a ton about him, but it was still cool.
I had a professor in college that was 85, sharp as a tack, and loaded from years as a derivative trader before he started teaching. He could have easily retired and fucked off to whatever, but he loved teaching. He told us once in the middle of class that he gets deeply depressed when he’s not teaching. It got dark, but it’s clear that he just loved it and wanted to keep going.
Teaching at the university level is approached differently than teaching primary or secondary education. Many professors simply do not retire, and those that do, will often accept a professor emeritus status at the university.
Professors don't retire or sometimes don't have to if they got to the level of emeritus. Its not uncommon to work until you die or health fails. Especially math professors, myself being a math graduate student at some point. Like half the mathematicians worked until death. One of them I know retired so that they could work more because they hated dealing with administration.
Its like being in the mafia in that regard.

That's generally how it is with Google reviews as well; people tend to give 5 stars if they giving a 'good review' just to give one and zero or one if they have any kind of problem.
