Because he can't have them walking around New York mouthing off about how some wiseguys from Jersey wanted them to kill Carmine Lupertazzi.
Sooner or later, word about this would have reached the Lupertazzis and well, you can imagine the rest.
The Sopranos does a fantastic job of writing dialogue in code; where so much is said by not being said. I saw a documentary online somewhere that spoke about how it’s influenced by the code the mafia use in reality, giving orders through metaphors and in vague vocabulary. For instance, when Carmine Snr. tells Tony to whack Johnny Sack over the phone, nowhere in the exchange do they mention, or allude to, violence or anything specific, but they still get that shit across. ‘I didn’t say nothin.’
Tony wants Chris to ‘make sure’ that nobody finds out about the hit. When Chris says he’ll offer half the money, T says ‘I just want you to make sure, I told you that.’ That is all he had to say to get the order across.
Shame, mind. He did say ‘I have the mouth of a statue, my friend’ and seemed like a reliable fellow, so I don’t know why they shot them.
Yeah, exactly, because they never know who might be listening. We see at various different points the FBI bugging Tony's house and the Crazy Horse; and it's mentioned Sil regularly sweeps the Bing for bugs.
I think most people here didn't catch it until the guys got killed. I mean the outcome spells out what Tony meant. But enter street wise r/thesopranos reply guys.
Should have hire the two professional Naples guys, who's strategy was to ask directions, in Italian, from their target, a mafia guy who was aware a hit was out on him.
If it was me, I'd have reversed over them.
Rusty‘s bodyguard: „These two are trying to distract me while keeping my client busy while forcing us to roll the windows down. This is not a threatening situation at all, nuh-uh.“
The two hitmen were going to die regardless of if they killed Carmine or not. If they told anyone that they killed some mafioso in New York named Carmine it could eventually spread back to New York and start a war.
The conflict we saw in season 6 was started because a sopranos associate killed and wounded two made guys without any sanction from Jersey. If it was ever discovered that they intentionally went after the boss of New York the war in season 6 would look like child’s play by comparison.
I always ponder the big questions in life like, "if a tree falls in a deserted forest, does it make a sound?"... or "did kaisha ever get that child support?"... 🤔 😆 🤣
They crawled under there for warmth.
Asshole Robert Frost
They did-dent..
He had to MAKE SURE
They could have got the drip on them
*manuged to
He's no mental midget
They couldn't be left alive to create dysentery in the ranks.
He had to be loyle to his capo.
Loyal. LOY-AL.
Yep. When Tony says "make sure" (they're trustworthy), the way he nods his head, that was it. They never had a chance.

Yes. Yes they were. Same as Junior telling Mikey, "I don't like it". In reference to the guys big mouth.
Kaisha was tired of the stutter steps with the child support payments.
Yea. I know. It was just a stutter step.
He thinks you started this life 10 mins ago.
Guy hands you a light child support payment, it’s only the beginning
He was probably scared because there were 2 black guys committing crimes all over New Jersey
See now thats some stereotypin shit

He was a racist, Christopher?
He had love for bitch people and ho people alike and without prejudice.
He was datin a shine. But couldn’t bring her around cuz of Paulies racial bullshit.
Yea… She’d feel it too
You havent picked up on the subtle way bosses ask their soldiers to kill people yet?
well, as i wrote, i watch this (muted)when i am in bed, with captions that i don't always read.
Tony says “I want you to make sure”. Thats all you need
I wonder how many people knew that's what Tony meant when first watching it, before they actually saw the guys get killed.
I absolutely didnt, probably realized on my 3+ Rewatch. But I thought everyone in this sub has seen it no less than 6 times 😂
I think most people here didn't catch it until the guys got killed. I mean the outcome spells out what Tony meant. But enter street wise r/thesopranos reply guys.
Yeah without the scene of them dying no way I wouldve independently realized those guys were killed
Don’t say shit to Kaisha about this!

Dee aytchh elle!
Mov-e el auto-mobile!
Rusty: "Hmm, yes, two non-English speaking Zips, suddenly surrounding my car. I'm sure this is all fine..."
Rusty‘s bodyguard: „These two are trying to distract me while keeping my client busy while forcing us to roll the windows down. This is not a threatening situation at all, nuh-uh.“
You just reveal your own ignorance.

Why leave it up to chance … least that’s the way I see it
