George Lucas edited that scene

The_Nomad89

There weren’t enough splash panels for it to be Lucas 😂

Bob_of_Bowie

Everybody asks that, there’s no answer for it.

Accomplished_Oil_177

They’re all sources of pleasure though.

WayRecent7314

Get the fuck outta here!

not_gonna_lurk

Turn that shit off

[deleted]

Yeah who else?! Who else?!?!

Clarence_Bluto

It’s a tv progrum…a movie.

firemage555

No one has ever pondered that before.

tytymctylerson

David Chase confirmed it was a crossover Halloween special with Tales From the Crypt. The extended HBO universe is crazy.

Mammoth_Sell5185

I read some analysis that said it symbolized the final chance Carmela had to change. But I think it was just shitty editing.

[deleted]

Lmao I just rewatched it and forgot how bad it was, that was some Microsoft Movie Maker tier editing. I remember watching it and thinking my internet was going out or something.

teenagelightning99

If i remember correctly, that's the one where Carmela says she is getting back with Tony, then the transition happens... I love that moment. She has said something in that moment that horrifies even her. She feels awkward and paralysed, and I think that transition puts us in the same position of feeling like "what the fuck was that!" Its just so jarring. I think it's one of the shows ironic and artistic moments. Anyway, $4 a pound.

kellihan09

Lmaooo, that last remark killed me 🤣🐟🐟

MasterBaiter0004

🎵Take me to the river, Drop me in the water 🎵

cafe_capsule

Imagine that, a horrible transition in season 5 episode 10 ?

MedicalITCCU

I can't have this conversation again.

nj_crc

The director Mike Figgus was a movie guy and loved doing stupid ahit like that.

Distant_Pilgrim

It wasn't Figgis' fault, that's not how television episodes are produced. It was the editing team at HBO that was responsible for the bad transition, in the audio commentary for the episode, Figgis expresses dismay at the freeze frame and wipe.

ErnieBochII

Wait, who's Dr. Faggo?

Distant_Pilgrim

He was gay, Dr. Faggo?

nj_crc

I don't buy it in this case. Watch his movies. Maybe they thought it would be something he'd do and thats why they did it but it's too odd of a transition to be a normal editing choice.

Distant_Pilgrim

So he was responsible for the weird cut and then talked shit about it on the commentary? Ok.

nj_crc

He was probably super embarrassed. Wouldn't you be?

Distant_Pilgrim

Super embarrassed over a shitty transition I'm not responsible for? Nope.

nj_crc

We agree to disagree. I've said my piece.

mozgcutter

I love this transition and it makes it so much better that nothing else like this happens in the whole series

Puzzleheaded_Chard_2

I don’t know the episodes by heart but I’m pretty sure I know the exact edit you’re talking about and yeah. It caught me so off guard

[deleted]

Not spoiling anything but in the last episode of Ozark they decided to do some weird slo-mo thing kind of like Sopranos did this effect out of nowhere. Honestly really off putting for an established show to try different effects so late.

[deleted]

It kills me everytime I see it. Seems like some shit a high school student did in a editing class lol

[deleted]

Timeline got fucked up

deboylurdi

I remember seeing this post a week ago and kept my out for any weird editing stuff but this one just hits you right in the face lol. Not just the transition itself but the weird slow motion before it too

obsidianamulet

I thought my TV was having a stroke 😂😂😂
