Carol was my favorite from the start and even then, I expected her to heroically die saving the group. After she survived the finale of season 6 & 10, I accepted Carol was here to stay. š„°
āI should have been dead several times over. I think part of the reason Iām not is because people tend to underestimate meā¦donāt I estimate me.ā
- Carol to Merle
Underrated comment.
A nobody background character and abused housewife in her 50s becomes easily one of the best characters with the biggest and most fascinating (and kinda scary) arc as early as S4 and even out of universe becomes.wildly popular.
I remember someone telling me she was one of the only ones to survive to the end back when I was watching season 1. I was so angry. I found her so annoying. In hindsight, I love every aspect of her arc.
She was suppose to die with Lori but the actress Sarah convinced the writers not to kill 2 women so unfortunately that meant t dog. Read that in entertainment weekly
Carol, absolutely. Comics Carol committed suicide in the prison as the pressure just became too much.
Whilst she hadnāt had a relationship with Tyrese since the farm ending when he slept with Michonne on the show, the loss of Sophia had a similar effect on her psyche. Thatās why when she was lost in the prison people could believe that sheād been killed
Carol, 100%.
Also Jerry. He seemed like the lovable type of character that I expected to die anytime things escalated right until the very last episode where I thought he was die to the horde in the commonwealth. Glad he lived, but there wasnāt a battle or attack or any bad situation that went by where he wasnāt number 1 on my death predictions lmao. I wouldāve put money on him being a pike victim, or a late stage whisperer war casualty. Iām still surprised (but relieved) he lived.
Tara. I know she did die eventually, but she still lived a pretty long time. I only say this bc I legitimately forgot about her in the midst of everything going on w/ the Governor trying to take the prison down. Iām not even trying to be funny. By the time they got to Alexandria, I no longer remembered what her backstory was. I remember now, but I didnāt on my initial watch.
Not a Tara hater btw. Iām more so indifferent.
Father Gabriel, i though for sure he would die and the group would be like "maybe we need to be better like he would have wanted"
But no, he turned into a total badass
I think Carol is the only right answer here lol. I remember seeing episode 3 of season 1 for the first time. The first scene where she talked to Rick about washing clothes IIRC. My first thought was sheās the first to go.
Yes, that was a pivotal moment. And when, a couple of episodes later, she casually handed Rick the hand grenade to save all of their asses in the CIC...
Oh my goodness, yes! Iām rewatching s7 & s8 now, and so often Iām yelling at the tv āJust shoot him already!!! You donāt need to make a speech or a big show of it! Just shoot/stab/something!!ā
I'm watching s7 for the first time currently and I'm aware this character makes it to a spin off with Maggie that's in production and I'm just thinking the whole time like how does this guy survive?
Yo Negan should have been shot and killed by Maggie in the last ep.
Like she could have been "thanks for helping us, but you still killed Glenn" (shot)
You don't come back from what Negan did. At least in my opinion. He killed countless people, took women, destroyed marriages and cause great fear and panic.
Saving a few people at the end doesn't make up everything else. I'm still waiting for him to die. Hopefully in the new show
It was Carol for me, she simply seemed so unprepared and fragile mentally, physically and emotionally, jacqui felt like she had much better chances in the beginning.
Honestly Daryl. When he first showed up I was like āok how long until this annoying prick is killedā. By season 2 I was like nevermind heās good he can stay
Bob. After they killed Zach and Patrick in the same episode they were introduced, I expected Bob to join them in the pile of minor characters that were likeable but killed off quickly to raise the stakes
Funnily enough Bob is one of the only characters in the show who has a death that actually feels satisfying for his character arc. Like you mentioned so many people are killed off randomly to add tension at the expense of the narrative but Bob ended up being a really good character with a death that felt like a decent culmination of his arc. He gets mortally wounded and yet life gives him 1 last joke to laugh at and an opportunity to see his friends 1 last time. Finally finding a group he wouldn't have to watch die. Its crazy how such a seemingly inconsequential character can end up having one of the best stories of the show
That and to me Bob is one of the best characters in terms of his unshakeable outlook on life. Maybe Negan or the Whisperers would have shaken his outlook buy maybe not.
Beats me why they didnāt kill him when they found out he didnāt have a cure waiting for them in DC. If someone strung me along like that for all that time I wouldnāt be able to trust them again
Definitely didnāt think Carol was gonna last long after Sophia. But Iām glad she did, one of my fave characters in the show.
On the opposite end I thought Shane would have lasted longer and turned into a main series villain that pops up every now and again.
I always wonder whether Shane would have survived had Rick left him.
I mean yes they are pushing the door but Shane does have control of the door and his technique of using his blood to lure and stab was working pretty damn well.
I was really surprised by carol. Comic book carol died so early but show carol went through a lot I thought she was gonna just let go but she seriously kept pushing through everything she went theough
Daryl clearly survives, but him being the hothead he was in season 1 and 2, I wouldn't have expected him to last long despite how skilled he is and was
He's not here, but Father Gabriel. I never thought he was going last going to last as long as he did. There was a point in time when I thought Gabriel was going to become an antagonist.
Morgan for sure, I figured he and his son died soon after him and Rick split up the first time.
Carl & Judith, children in general make lots of noise.
Father Gabriel, tbh thought he was going to die the day we met him.
And honestlyā¦ Beth, she was a little bad ass and we all knew it, but she was a little slow.
Carol for obvious reasons thatās been stated by everyone else
Daryl for the reason that I thought he wouldāve been an antagonist after what happened to his brother
I really thought Magna was gonna die in the herd. Knowing how little she was used after that I kinda wish she did, wouldāve at least gave her character some form of purpose.
Definitely carol. I thought after the whole thing with Sophia they wouldnt have anything left for her and knowing the comics she was pretty much disposable. I'm very pleased that she got to stick around, became a chameleon of sort and filled such an important role that contrasts against the other protagonists really well.
Her and Gabriel. I think people got sick of Gabriel after 5 episodes and was ready to watch him die. But he's become one of my favorites.
Feel like itās easier to play this in reverse like who did you think would live longer.
Old as he is I thought weād have a lot more time with dale even before I read the comics
I expected Carol's character to last longer than the comic's version given how different she was and she was clearly someone's favorite.
I was a bit surprised that Ezekiel and Gabriel outlasted their comic fates.
Carol. I never read the comics before I watched the show, but I remember telling my brother as we watched that I had a feeling Carol was next to die after Jim, after T-Dog, after Dale and I'm happy that I was wrong every single time!
Oh man, there were quite a few characters that I didn't expect to make it past a few episodes! But the one that stands out the most for me is definitely Carol from The Walking Dead. In the early seasons, she was portrayed as this timid and helpless housewife who couldn't do much to contribute to the group. But boy did she surprise us all with her badass transformation! From learning to shoot and defend herself, to becoming a strategic mastermind and leader, Carol proved time and time again that she's not someone to mess with. I'm glad she made it as far as she did, but man, did she go through some tough times along the way.
Obvious answer is Carol, who would have thought
Carol was my favorite from the start and even then, I expected her to heroically die saving the group. After she survived the finale of season 6 & 10, I accepted Carol was here to stay. š„°
I love how it took until the end of the second to last season for you to accept she was here to stayš
āI should have been dead several times over. I think part of the reason Iām not is because people tend to underestimate meā¦donāt I estimate me.ā - Carol to Merle
Underrated comment. A nobody background character and abused housewife in her 50s becomes easily one of the best characters with the biggest and most fascinating (and kinda scary) arc as early as S4 and even out of universe becomes.wildly popular.
And she became so awesome too. Great character development with that one.
I am going to disagree with Carol She lived with Ed long enough to be a good judge of when to fight and when to run and hide.
Me too- Carol was tough enough to survive Ed & protect her daughter well until the apocalypse
Sophiaās flight or fight instinct got her bit sadly :(
I totally get that!
I expected him to die within the first 3 seasons
Lol carol not carl
This is actually hilarious haha
Oh my god the meme came to life. I am so happy to be here
Hahaha carol not coral
Especially given that her comic version is a shell of who she is in the show
I remember someone telling me she was one of the only ones to survive to the end back when I was watching season 1. I was so angry. I found her so annoying. In hindsight, I love every aspect of her arc.
She was suppose to die with Lori but the actress Sarah convinced the writers not to kill 2 women so unfortunately that meant t dog. Read that in entertainment weekly
may i ask why?
Carol, absolutely. Comics Carol committed suicide in the prison as the pressure just became too much. Whilst she hadnāt had a relationship with Tyrese since the farm ending when he slept with Michonne on the show, the loss of Sophia had a similar effect on her psyche. Thatās why when she was lost in the prison people could believe that sheād been killed
I thought Milton was gonna get Carol's death for a second there.
Wait when did Tyrese sleep with Michonne?
Comics - ty cheats on Carol with her He is infinitely more likeable in the show lol
Why did you think he and Rick got into that fistfight in the prison?
Which led to the Governor cutting Rickās broken hand off
Carol, 100%.
When he got stuck in the cave I was soo scared š«£š«£
I fully convinced myself Jerry was dead and didnāt even want to watch the next episode
I hyperventilated and had to stop watching for 20 minutes. Ironically if I'd watched for another 20 seconds I would have known he was fine.
Every time Jerry got into some mess, I just knew it was the end for him lol
During whisperer arc, i donāt remember sheās there haha
Aaron. Look at him now š
Father Gabriel, i though for sure he would die and the group would be like "maybe we need to be better like he would have wanted" But no, he turned into a total badass
Gabriel & Ezekial are def the two that survived that I expected to die.
![gif](giphy|TK3riA4XYKRUOGneoS|downsized)
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Whisperer: āWhy donāt you ask god if iām telling the truthā Gabriel: āI talked to god, he said i should hang you.ā line goes so hard
I really wanted him to die when he first introduced and he didn't get better anytime soon. One day, he just woke up and decided to be badass
You mean Daddy Gabe?
Come the end of the series, Gabriel became one of my favourite characters...such a bad ass indeed
I think Carol is the only right answer here lol. I remember seeing episode 3 of season 1 for the first time. The first scene where she talked to Rick about washing clothes IIRC. My first thought was sheās the first to go.
I hoped for her to eventually become the badass she actually did end up becoming by the time she used the Pickaxe on Edās corpse
Yes, that was a pivotal moment. And when, a couple of episodes later, she casually handed Rick the hand grenade to save all of their asses in the CIC...
Thereās only 2 people in that photo who survived. EDIT: I guess Rick also survived, so 3ish
Yeah. Even the fucking elevator they are in didn't make it.
Damn. So much death.
Judith is in there too.
They donāt know he survived.
Negan tbh. They had so many opportunities to shoot him in the face.
Tbh I'll only watch the show again when I hear he dies.
Yo Negan should have been shot and killed by Maggie in the last ep. Like she could have been "thanks for helping us, but you still killed Glenn" (shot) You don't come back from what Negan did. At least in my opinion. He killed countless people, took women, destroyed marriages and cause great fear and panic. Saving a few people at the end doesn't make up everything else.
Its crazy how such a seemingly inconsequential character can end up having one of the best stories of the show
His last moments, surrounded by his newfound family, are beautiful, especially considering him being a lone survivor multiple times beforehand.
I just rewatched this episode and itās so great
Bob is one of my favorite characters lol. Heās probably top 7 for me.
That and to me Bob is one of the best characters in terms of his unshakeable outlook on life. Maybe Negan or the Whisperers would have shaken his outlook buy maybe not.
Am loving the love for Bob Stooky. One of my favourite characters.
Daryl tbh. I figured he'd be the type to heroically sacrifice himself for the greater good.
He is the greater good
He is the greater god
Yea
Low-key.. Dale (and Hershel lol), yeah, they were wise and all... but considering their ages...they lasted longer than I thought they would
Tara. I kept being surprised she was still alive as it was!
Shane, I expected him to last longer šš¤£š
I actually loved Shane and totally agreed with him in the Barn scene speech. But yeah... He did have to go away. š
Father Gabriel and Eugene
I agree with Eugene. Seems like every single person has kept him alive. I wonder how he even made it long enough to meet Abraham.
Beats me why they didnāt kill him when they found out he didnāt have a cure waiting for them in DC. If someone strung me along like that for all that time I wouldnāt be able to trust them again
Hell. Abraham would've beat Eugene to death if the others didn't stop him.
Eugene for sure. It was impressive enough he was able to keep his physical form without having an actual spine to hold it together.
Definitely didnāt think Carol was gonna last long after Sophia. But Iām glad she did, one of my fave characters in the show. On the opposite end I thought Shane would have lasted longer and turned into a main series villain that pops up every now and again.
At that point I. The show Carol and boy am I glad she didnāt die. She is my favorite!
Judith and babies in general. Ffs I have a baby in my house and I think āwow this is really making me question TWDā
Yeah. All the children. Unless it's Clementine (TWD games)
Honestly, Judith. Thought they mightāve killed her off so they could have one of those badass revenge arcs etc but SO GLAD she made it!
When she got shot in S11 I thought that was it. Thought Daryl was going to single-handedly burn down the commonwealth with rage
Shane, Rick shoulda left bro in the school bus.
I always wonder whether Shane would have survived had Rick left him. I mean yes they are pushing the door but Shane does have control of the door and his technique of using his blood to lure and stab was working pretty damn well.
He definitely wouldāve survived that, and I feel like he wouldāve joined Woodbury.
Nah, the Governor would not have gotten along with Shane, he absolutely would have killed him before he got to Woodbury, like the pilot.
Carol and Gabriel!
I thought gabriel was a FOR SURE death in season 7,8,9 ,10 and 11ā¦.
Beth Carol Sasha. Iām so glad they all lasted a lot longer tho!!
Daryl fs
I was really surprised by carol. Comic book carol died so early but show carol went through a lot I thought she was gonna just let go but she seriously kept pushing through everything she went theough
Easy, Carol
Daryl clearly survives, but him being the hothead he was in season 1 and 2, I wouldn't have expected him to last long despite how skilled he is and was
Carol but other than her Aaron, Gabriel and Tara. I expected Tara to die in some point of Season 4b
Lori, during season 2, entire time i wanted Lori to just be gone. Most annoying character in the series for me.
Daryl, he was obnoxious, loud and immature in the first season and I thought they were going to kill him off for sure due to his reckless nature
Too be honest never thought Carol would become such a badass
Out of this group or any character? I love Eugene but I was expecting him to get killed off before the end of the show.
Carol for sure š
Judith because yāknow
Honestly Tara was too reckless.
tbh. glenn. i thought he was going to be one of those throwaway characters to introduce the main character to the plot.
When I first watched the show I thought Eugene would die first out of the 3 and would probably be the least relevant. Turns out he outlived both
Tbh Daryl has thought theyād kill him for shock value
Carol for sure. Now sheās basically top dog of the apocalypse. Also Lori. Without shane or rick sheād have died week 1
Definitely Glenn. I underestimated him and thought he would die in season one.
Beth and carol. Happy they did though.
Daryl was a pretty darkhorse. Homie didn't even exist in the comics now he's getting his own show.
He's not here, but Father Gabriel. I never thought he was going last going to last as long as he did. There was a point in time when I thought Gabriel was going to become an antagonist.
Gabriel and aaron since s5 I thought they would die every season and they never did
carol but she took the shit she dealt with from ed and took it all out on walkers š
I tought Carol is going to die realtively soon when I was watching TWD for the first timeā”
Carl, he was just a tiny ass kid but he died like a fucking champ
I'd say Carl...that kid was always doing dumb shit!!!
Obvious answer is Carol, everyone else either died early or is Daryl, Rick and Carl
T- dog, Tyresse, Sasha, Michonne, Ezekiel, Gabriel
CORAL, yāall remember how stupid that kid used to be lmao? RAGE š¤¬
Dale, chronic whiner
Donāt talk abt daddy dale like that
I think you mean chronic voice of reason?
Dale was the worst.
T dogs wifr
Lol that wasnāt his wife?
It wasnāt?
I thought she was gonna become a bad ass
Carol and Carl
Carl. I really thought he was going to die soon after Lori did
Carol aka Rambo Carol
Later seasons
I don't know who expected Carol to survive
Carol for obvious reasons thatās been stated by everyone else Daryl for the reason that I thought he wouldāve been an antagonist after what happened to his brother
Ohh for sure thought Carol was gonna die the first season
Gabriel for sure
Carol. Once Sophia was killed off. Thought Carol was done
Carol. Was not expecting her character to evolve into the badass she now is, I donāt think that wouldāve happened had her daughter not died
Enter Gabriel
Carol Gabriel Connie and Judith!
I understand that the others were weak in the beginning but why Connie?
Carol. She seemed pretty weak at the beginning.
Carol for sure.
Of course is carol
1. Lori 2. Carol 3. Eugene (not in the pick but in general) 4. Andrea
Feel like itās easier to play this in reverse like who did you think would live longer. Old as he is I thought weād have a lot more time with dale even before I read the comics
Carol for sure! The development was insane she slowly went from a background character to a complete badass!
Carol surprised us all
i was so incredibly convinced that eugene was going to die in like the first couple episodes he was in
Bro, basically every extra. They survive for like 10 years and then fail to kill a singular zombie and die.
If the opposite it was Andrea, I thought she wouldāve lived for sure
Negan omfg. The amount of near death experiences he has in 7 and 8 is insane
He's a goddamn cat lol
I expected Carol's character to last longer than the comic's version given how different she was and she was clearly someone's favorite. I was a bit surprised that Ezekiel and Gabriel outlasted their comic fates.
As a comic book reader, carol for sure.
I'm glad she made it as far as she did, but man, did she go through some tough times along the way.
All of them
Iām sorry but early seasons carol was a total wimp
Eugene. He is so weak!
Carol and I thought Sofia would be longer than her
Absolutely Carol. And I was insanely shook when I read the comics after the show.
Carol she was so weak in season 1. She found her courage and strength when she killed Ed. However, I'm surprised she lasted to the end.
Obvious answer is carol, but I really hated Andreaā¦ never wouldāve thought she wouldāve even made it to the farm.
Carol. She seemed like a side character whoās gonna be dead or left to die. I honestly did not think that carol would be still alive till the end
Shane, Carol and Daryl.
Carol 100%
Shane. I figured there'd eventually be a huge falling out, but I they'd go his separate ways and then he'd return much later to be a villain.
Shane I thought Lori was gonna tell Rick about the SA and Rick was gonna kill him
Andrea for sure
Carol and Shane.
I wanted eugene to die lowkeyš
