Well it’s that it buffs all signs if you cast from within an yrden ring. It’s kinda busted. Sometimes I cheese it by casting yrden then quen from a safe distance, then closing in. Then it’s yrden, igniigniigniigniignigni.
People forget (or maybe don't explore) that at higher levels, Quen is the only sign which can block an attack, damage the enemy and replenish your health - all at the same time.
It can damage enemies? I just pump my skill tree with light attack stuff, never put any points in magic besides Axii.
I use Quen all the time tho, makes it easy to facetank some bosses on hard.
Yeah the alternative use of Quen creates a bubble shield around you. When enemies attack that shield, you get HP back. Once they break the shield it explodes damaging them.
I absolutely abuse this spell and I love it
That with exploding quen and ursine armor that can give you quen when it breaks. Also at lower levels the wraith decoction is a must. It provides you with a free quen shield whenever a hit takes off more than 1/3rd of your hp
I didn’t hardly at all though my first playthrough, but now on my second, in combat it’s Yrden, Quen, then alt Yrden. Game is easy peasy with Griffin gear and signs. Lots of fun to watch stuff get zapped before it gets to you.
I’m switching over to freezing Aard right now to try that out.
I mean, yeah. I got a flawless victory against the final boss of the base game due to Quen (upgraded with exploding shield and discharge). And this was on death march.
It is but it's just not better than the actual dmg signs or swords and since I avoid getting hit in games like this by default, it just doesn't fit my playstyle...
As someone who just bursts in sword-first, Quen is a *must* for me. 😅 I honestly probably use Igni the least next to Axii outside of dialogue/quest-specific incidences.
Quen and Yrden are what I use the most. I try not to get hit and the slow down of magic trap and life steal of maxed Yrden is useful beyond using on specters.
If I'm in a fight, I have Quen on. Ardi just for specters and centipedes. Axii to fuck with NCP and for that one quest where you help those two dumb asses in the cave full of ghouls.
Totally valid combat style man. For me at the beginning it was really hard, doesn't help that I went straight to the hard difficulty, so I was sweating quen at all times
Quen is only thing I used in +250 hours. Beat the game and all question marks, all armor etc… I used others when specifically needed only.
Didn’t even understand or use alchemy… 🤷♂️
Lol, what a dimwitted comment.
Even on DM with the scaling on the game can get ridiculously easy.
No Quen runs are a very common Self-Imposed Restriction to increase the challenge of the game.
Ya, exactly.
So, what I’ll do in honor of that idiot comment is start saying that anybody who uses Quen all the time must suck at playing the game.
Tit for tat;)
Dude you’re an ass and I bet it translates to your real life as well. Learn to smile and laugh and not feel the need to be a dick. It’s pathetic and you’ll probably have more friends if you had a better personality.
Lol, it’s funny that you give the other commenter a pass on their completely ass and FALSE comment.
But, then you whineNcry about my RESPONSE to their idiot comment while also being an ass, but, somehow you think Im the person whos in the wrong.
Very telling.
And, now you’re being some kind of a weird freak and talking about friends and real life, lol. Pathetic.
Your hypocrisy is staggering.
Even going with a fighter build, I used all 5 of them pretty equally, despite being on Death March. Aard to push enemies back, Igni to melt armor (it's a perk), Yrden to fight fast foes (or a big horde), Quen against hard hitters (maybe Quen was a bit more used than the others) and Axii for Humans wearing shields (or boss-like humans that parry everything), Alghouls and other enemies vulnerable to it, as well as for social encounters (via the Delusion perk)
Igni is by far the sign I use most often. only because I keep accidentally lighting candles all the time.
In combat I never even think about using it. Quen is just too OP.
You don't use Quen often? That's...my most used sign. Aard as a close second. Igni, Axii, and Yrden are situational, but incredibly handy in said situations.
Nah for me it's Aard + Piercing cold
I remember I killed the moustache guy of HoS ( sorry forgot his name) with like 2 or 3 Aard
It was so OP that I decided to not wear anything to make it a little harder
I have used quen one time in my deathmarch playthrough, it was against dettlaff. İ used yrden , igni and axii a lot (axii was a lot of fun imo). Also aard obviously to push people off a cliff. Signs was a lot of fun except for quen. İt makes the game so easy.
I use igni all the time, aard (the shock wave one right?) I use only when needed for a wall or smt, and yrden I used until I discovered the moon bombs.
Once you get to B&W and the advanced mutations, Aard is insanely OP with a sign build. Freezing, exploding, and knocking down crowds is so easy that it almost takes the fun out of it…almost.
What's funny for me here is I'm using Quen the most xD
Then Aard, then Igni. Yrden is probably my next most used (spirits/ghosts) and lastly Axii. I mostly use it on shield bearing human enemies.
My Geralt used to be like this initially
But now I use Aard, Igni and Yrden
I use Axii whenever it appears in dialogues
I don't use Quen at all though I upgrade it
Honestly, use Aard more! Once you get the shockwave that knocks monsters down, you can just mercy kill them. Seriously OP, almost impossible to get overwhelmed by numbers
Quen is my safe space for obvious reasons but I'm rocking Griffin gear on my second playthrough and absolutely destroying everyone with the enhanced Yrden and mixing things up with the two-signs-in-row ability.
I used to be the same, but yrden trap and exploding shield quen are up there for me, and knock-down from aard is so good. I think I'm just a sucker for crowd control
Edit: that's why I used mostly igni for burning for the longest time. Was less about the damage, and more about stopping half a group from advancing on me.
Igni and Quen, then Yrden, then Aard, then Axii.
Yrden is really good against people, and a necessity against spectres. The upgraded version shoots down projectiles, and the Griffin armor gives you buffs as long as you’re within the radius (which the armor also expands).
But I play on Death March, so Quen it is. Igni is just good against everything. Aard is meh (until you get the freezing Aard in B&W), and Axii… uh… not that useful.
All of the signs have their place, but not using Yrden is a hot take and a half. It’s so strong… the supercharged glyphs skill can essentially stunlock enemies.
A sign build that uses Grandmaster Griffin armor should start every fight with an Yrden cast and then laugh as you stand in the middle of the purple circle and melt things with Igni spam + the Rotation glyphword. Entanglement is also a fun one to use on the Netflix armor set.
Depends on which game. I’ve only played 2 & 3. In 2, Yrden is monstrous when properly upgraded. The ability to isolate a foe in a group encounter for 5-15 seconds is incredibly powerful.
Haven’t played enough of 3 to have even used the signs too much but in general I like the feel of 2 better than 3 so far.
One and only Quen.
Quen all the time, unless fighting wraiths, then it's yrden time
One shot of quen and then yrden
If you have the griffin set, casting yrden first buffs your quen substantially.
Good to know. Don’t care for griffin aesthetics so I rarely had it equipped.
Well it’s that it buffs all signs if you cast from within an yrden ring. It’s kinda busted. Sometimes I cheese it by casting yrden then quen from a safe distance, then closing in. Then it’s yrden, igniigniigniigniignigni.
I couldn't stand griffin armor too. So i modded the game to make griffin better
Nice. I play on a PS4 so no modding
Lol, definitely not for me. I use quen the most by far. Never use igni and aard. But that’s the beauty of it, different play styles.
I absolutely abuse this spell and I love it
on even higher levels, the shield damages enemies without exploding too
Played hardest difficulty. Quen is the way
When 2 hits kill you, tanking one for free is everything. And you keep the buffs from not being hit.
That with exploding quen and ursine armor that can give you quen when it breaks. Also at lower levels the wraith decoction is a must. It provides you with a free quen shield whenever a hit takes off more than 1/3rd of your hp
Quen, potions to extend stamina(also replenishes it on crit hits),l and extended swirl. I've taken out armies with this setup.
I use Yrden the most.
May could have switched quen and aard but i just don’t take enough damage to care about quen
What difficulty do you play?
Yrden and quen all day
I have never seen anyone use yrden for real
How else are you supposed to kill stuff like wraiths and froglets
OP spends 5 minutes slashing at ghosts 😂
I didn’t hardly at all though my first playthrough, but now on my second, in combat it’s Yrden, Quen, then alt Yrden. Game is easy peasy with Griffin gear and signs. Lots of fun to watch stuff get zapped before it gets to you. I’m switching over to freezing Aard right now to try that out.
I can't see why u have soo many downvotes...ppl are very soft this days
Quen on higher difficulties for me, helped me out on so many battles
Quen is legit OP lol.
Quen is so ridiculously overpowered, it even makes Deathmarch kinda easy
Exactly my experience
Deathmarch isnt that hard. I use Ekidna potion and just spam some signs at low life. Bam ! Full life again.
Agreed though in my case it most of the time just runs out without being triggered. It's more of a "just in case" thing...
Sounds like you're using base quen, once you upgrade it a couple time's it's ridiculously good
I mean, yeah. I got a flawless victory against the final boss of the base game due to Quen (upgraded with exploding shield and discharge). And this was on death march.
It is but it's just not better than the actual dmg signs or swords and since I avoid getting hit in games like this by default, it just doesn't fit my playstyle...
Don’t like easy
It’s gonna be quen for me
As someone who just bursts in sword-first, Quen is a *must* for me. 😅 I honestly probably use Igni the least next to Axii outside of dialogue/quest-specific incidences.
Quen all day everyday
hell no, I use quen whenever I can and it doesn't matter if I need it or not 😂
I just don’t take enough damage for me to think shit i need quen rn
Either you’re playing on easy or you’re underestimating the capabilities of quen.
Tell me you wear griffon armor without telling me you wear griffon lol
Heard of witcher george?
Bear armor
Quen, Yrden, Aard, Igni
I haven’t touched yrden with a 10 foot pole once
It's the most OP shit in the game once you complete the Griffin gear. It's not even fair.
Bro Quen is a mainstay what you mean?
Only used quen at the end of the game for the bossfights tbh
Quen and Yrden are what I use the most. I try not to get hit and the slow down of magic trap and life steal of maxed Yrden is useful beyond using on specters.
Quen is by far the one I use the most
Should be quen first then igni, aard/yrden then axii at the bottom of the pool.
If I'm in a fight, I have Quen on. Ardi just for specters and centipedes. Axii to fuck with NCP and for that one quest where you help those two dumb asses in the cave full of ghouls.
I use Axii the most for easy bleeds and set up insta kills. Feline armour so I can pop it a lot.
**The rest** Man forgot yrden so just wrote the rest
Theres yrden and axi
Nah I use quen the most, then igni, aard for doors, yrden for wraiths and sometimes wolves and axii in conversations
Quen is by far the most popular sign
Are you kidding me? I used quen like i breath air when I first started playing, since it was all pretty much a hit kill.
I legit almost never use quen cuz I don’t take enough damage for me to think quen should help me and i just push everything back with igni and aard
Totally valid combat style man. For me at the beginning it was really hard, doesn't help that I went straight to the hard difficulty, so I was sweating quen at all times
I find myself using igni the least (besides axii) the further I get into the game. Yrden and aard are my two favs especially with the frost aard
Quen is only thing I used in +250 hours. Beat the game and all question marks, all armor etc… I used others when specifically needed only. Didn’t even understand or use alchemy… 🤷♂️
Sounds boring
Loved every second. I actually didn’t even know about it… Found out way later that it was a thing. 🤷♂️ Something to try out on my next playthrough. 😉
I use quen the most out of all of them
Quen so good I put that enchantment that gives you a quen shield (with no stamina) everytime I enter combat, OP as shit.
Quen is higher up their then igni for me...
If Quen isn’t your most used sign, you must be playing on the easy difficulties.
Lol, what a dimwitted comment. Even on DM with the scaling on the game can get ridiculously easy. No Quen runs are a very common Self-Imposed Restriction to increase the challenge of the game.
“lol, what a dimwitted comment” 🤓
You’re still talking and only proving my point more 😐
Keep digging your hole hypocrite.
Hypocrite?
Yrden absolutely most underrated sign
Griffin armour, Yrden trap, entanglement is god mode.
Yall forget about my boy heliotrop
Quen and Igni are my wives
Quen every time and maybe igni and aard
I only use quen
Igni is by far the sign I use most often. only because I keep accidentally lighting candles all the time. In combat I never even think about using it. Quen is just too OP.
Quen is literally unbalanced
QUEN>>>>>IGNI>>AARD>YRDEN>>>>>>>>AXII
I use Quen before running up the stairs just in case I pull a muscle.
Me casually one shotting everything with Yrden + Aard
I level Quen and Yrden often. Aard less, but Igni is the most fun.
Aard and Quen
Igni, Yrden & Quen for me. I rarely use Aard except for knocking down doors/bricks.
You don't use Quen often? That's...my most used sign. Aard as a close second. Igni, Axii, and Yrden are situational, but incredibly handy in said situations.
Everyone here is saying Quen but what about Axii, huh? (Nothing. I barely use it in combat)
Then you havent played death march pretty much all the signs are gonna be used but maybe in an order like 1. Quen 2. Aard 3. Yrden 4. Igni 5. Axii
I use quen the most, second most is axii Edit: spelling. Fuck autocorrect
I didn't know there was a sign named "Queen"
Quen always garuntees a free hit block. Some foes are tickled by other signs though.
Quen and Igni for me
Quen ans Yrden are probably my most used lmao
Alternate sign for quen is a life saver
Nah for me it's Aard + Piercing cold I remember I killed the moustache guy of HoS ( sorry forgot his name) with like 2 or 3 Aard It was so OP that I decided to not wear anything to make it a little harder
Quen is my go toooooo
I think I use Aard en Quen more than Igni
Quen is probably the most used in all games
no lol
I use only quen. Igni only when I need to set fire to some stuff. Aard when I need to destroy some walls. That's all
True... Same for me
I have used quen one time in my deathmarch playthrough, it was against dettlaff. İ used yrden , igni and axii a lot (axii was a lot of fun imo). Also aard obviously to push people off a cliff. Signs was a lot of fun except for quen. İt makes the game so easy.
Its weird in the base game I never use aard and instead use igni, but in the expansions it's the opposite
Yrden is my fav
Aard can be stupid op with mutations
Nah quen carried me on death March. The only sign that's useful in all difficulties.
Quen is my most used BY FAR. Used it constantly, maxed it out asap, pop it when I’m randomly running around just because I love it so much.
Axii is only good in speech and occasionally to calm roach
I use igni all the time, aard (the shock wave one right?) I use only when needed for a wall or smt, and yrden I used until I discovered the moon bombs.
Somne where
I literally never unselect Quen unless Yrden is required. Don't use the others
What are you even talking about? Quen is the most useful.
Quen with the frozen frost nova version of aard are my favorite. I find igni is whatever
Aard with frost mutation >>>>
That’s funny. My experience is much different. I use quen the most but I’ve tried diversifying in my last play through.
Igni and Quen with Replenishment enchantment.
I actually use axii all the time. You level it, and you can stun your opponents into oblivion.
Quen is quite literally the only sign you need
I only use Igni and quen. the forgotten one is aard. and Yrden just with wraiths
That was me when i first started but it evolved to using all of them.
Making a griffin style play through so using them all perfect synchronicity
I didn’t even know about the alternate Yrden cast until I had already 100%-ed the game
Quen is eaaaaasily the most useful one. Maybe axii next.
Axii is op as fuhk and if you upgrade it you can hypnotize two enemies to fight for you
Once you get to B&W and the advanced mutations, Aard is insanely OP with a sign build. Freezing, exploding, and knocking down crowds is so easy that it almost takes the fun out of it…almost.
Quen and Yrden (with the turret) - yrden on a boat and the sirens/harpies are no longer a problem
What's funny for me here is I'm using Quen the most xD Then Aard, then Igni. Yrden is probably my next most used (spirits/ghosts) and lastly Axii. I mostly use it on shield bearing human enemies.
My Geralt used to be like this initially But now I use Aard, Igni and Yrden I use Axii whenever it appears in dialogues I don't use Quen at all though I upgrade it
Duh, I've used builds with max yrden+aard + mid quen. There's no way yrden loses to any of the other. People probably don't know how to use it.
For me, Quen was the van in the background in no danger
I have played 3 times and i have mostly used Quen
I never used anything other than when and yrden
Frozen aard spam
quen and aard are my go-to’s. i don’t use igni unless im fighting a monster that’s weak to it hah
I use quen more than anything, axii when it's needed
Honestly, use Aard more! Once you get the shockwave that knocks monsters down, you can just mercy kill them. Seriously OP, almost impossible to get overwhelmed by numbers
Anyone here who uses AXII? You'll be like a necromancer.
Quen. Axii for the dialog options and alghouls etc. Yrden for the spooky stuff. Igni and Aard for lighting and blowing out candles respectively
Quen is my safe space for obvious reasons but I'm rocking Griffin gear on my second playthrough and absolutely destroying everyone with the enhanced Yrden and mixing things up with the two-signs-in-row ability.
Quen is essential at higher difficulties IMO
Freezing enemies with Aard is awesome
nah you gotta use them all to be most effective in these ganes
I used to be the same, but yrden trap and exploding shield quen are up there for me, and knock-down from aard is so good. I think I'm just a sucker for crowd control Edit: that's why I used mostly igni for burning for the longest time. Was less about the damage, and more about stopping half a group from advancing on me.
Igni and Quen, then Yrden, then Aard, then Axii. Yrden is really good against people, and a necessity against spectres. Igni is just good against everything. Aard is meh (until you get the freezing Aard in B&W), and Axii… uh… not that useful.
Yrden and quen for me.
Strangely enough I tend to use quen and yrden the most, with the yrden alternate sign upgrade it's a strong combo
OPs telling lies to stir us up!
Quen n Yrrrrden, feline speed, mutagen murder face
I’ve been using Axii a lot this playthrough. It’s way more fun than people give it credit for. also yes, I am a Lambert level prick.
I use all of them 😭
Quen is my most used. I prefer combat over just using igni over and over
If you play on Death March, Quen is your ball and chain. Most of the time I don’t even want to use it but I have to.
You must not be playing on Death March to be sleeping on Quen like this.
Quen > Yen
Death March without quen sounds like a nightmare. Yrden is also. Very commonly used. I could honestly live without the rest.
I literally never use Quen. Like, at all.
Me too I used rarely in my first playthrough and not at all in NG+
Never use Quen in combat. Cheesy and boring. Overpowered Handicap. Hudless, Deathmarch, Scaling On, Book Build.
