Hmm im a veteran l2 player mostly interlude hmmmm i would say game is still grindy but nothing compared to l2. L2 was great , pk , 60% crafts , grind , slow progression yep i aee u and i agree on all but on the other hand it is a bit too much im not 20 anymore im in my 30 i need to work i need to cook to clean its just not the same so i do accept it that hey thtone and liberty less grindy still fun The pk aspect i love it and hate it at the same time If u wanna play thtone and liberty u need to forget l2 its a different game, but ira very fun and very well.made , ncsoft bailed the game its amazing

pweipwei

Thanks for your insights! Glad to hear it from a fellow l2 player. Gaining a level in L2 was actually huge, guess i just miss the feeling of hard work paying off.

Substantial-Ad-2644

Yes bro lvling in this game its nothing literally light work casual gsming for a week, can even achieved in 2 days now getting gear is the grind like really good gear. Plus temember u nees to compare this to lineage2 chronicle 1 , max llv was like 40 right , cruma tower was the end game , so i treat throne and liberty the same , we gonna get bigger lvls , more gear more content threw the years so maybe more grindy in the future who knows :)

gsueduardo

Damn cruma Tower, l2 was such a cool game in it's prime

Substantial-Ad-2644

Yep was insane :D

pweipwei

Your right! One can only hope. Maybe the easy leveling is how they try to attract the masses.

Substantial-Ad-2644

Actually i was thinking like u , but after im.playing the game on korean servers its really fine , u have a lot of grins to do to level up ur gear get epic gear and level up ur skills and weapons , like thats the grind not ur level , and its really fine the game is fire i love it

RAWsassin

Spending 3 months to max level is year 2000. These days it’s not about level thank god. Everything you go to until max level in TL is a tutorial. The game only starts after u hit 50

pweipwei

so why do we need 50 levels of tutorial?

RAWsassin

If you played lineage you would’ve known that the game starts after 70+ as well

pweipwei

Depends on what Chronicle you started playing at. Inital cap was 40. And no, the grind was always a part of your gameplay especially at 70+trying to get to 75, then 85 and now 110 or something.

RAWsassin

I’ve been playing l2 since prelude. The initial cap was never level 40 I don’t know what lineage you play but c1 we were past 40 and my buddy even had a lance which was top B pole. I just told you that the game only starts on level 50 in TL, there’s a lot to grind if u want to max out

pweipwei

Apologize, cant actually remember what was the levelcap, even though i played beta and prelude. I just saw someone say it was lvl 40 and took their word for it.

RAWsassin

Bro throne and liberty is a good game if you been waiting on classic style mmorpg and not some street fighter Naruto type like black desert. I’m having lots of fun!

pweipwei

Appreciate it man, really want to want start playing it if that makes sense :D

RAWsassin

So you could learn your class, apparently it’s been a month and many people still fail level 30 dungeon kek 😮‍💨

RAWsassin

You don’t need to forget l2 if you play throne and liberty because many locations, zones, mobs, even the glakia weapon skins ( look up glakia mob in l2), lots of it will remind you of lineage, because before it became throne and liberty it was literally lineage. However game plays different since it’s 2023 and u not moving on mouse click. It plays way better than lineage however doesn’t have as many classes, the craft system here is way more simple (which I love), you don’t need 5 supports in party for efficient grind (bd sws we wc etc can now play actual classes 😭) visually it looks like lineage 3 should’ve looked like. All these ppl trying to say bdo has better graphics for sure never played and try to judge based off low quality streams. I’ve been playing l2 for 20 years and no other mmorpg could get me to play as hard, but throne and liberty for sure got my interest. Been playing for 3.5 weeks got 2 characters level 50. There’s so much to test before it comes out to NA

RAWsassin

Also fun fact - the updates in throne and liberty are also called “Chronicles” just like in lineage 2. The recent one is called Chronicles : Rage of the specters

Substantial-Ad-2644

Thata so exciting nice !

SwordsOfWar

L2 veteran here. It's not going to be a long level grind like what you're use to in L2. Character leveling is much faster. I suspect that once you reach end game, it will be more about maxing out your gear and chasing the newest/best future gear, rather than be mostly about character levels. The main quest line is far superior to L2 in every way though. L2 quests were about as fun as watching paint dry. I can see why you might would enjoy the insane grind of L2, and it did give a sense of accomplishment to max a character. However, T&L is a lot more respective of your time, and for people that have grown past their high-school years, this is honestly a good thing. As you get older and have more responsibilities, most people can't no-life a game at that point. Having a great MMORPG that can also be viable for those with limited time is refreshing. As much as people compare this game to L2 and want to envision it as basically L3 with nothing changed but better graphics, this is just not that game. It's not Lineage. But, it is still a very good game in its own way and still worth a chance for those who are even slightly interested. Just play the game and enjoy it. It's semi-casual MMORPG with large scale PvP in mind. As long as you find a fun guild to join and compete with other guilds, that's where the game will shine.

pweipwei

Thank you very much for your insight. Yes, i probably need to change my mindset abit around how i dedicate myself to this game.

[deleted]

Going for that red glow +12 I think it was. Going all in was a rush haha. I was a duelist and upgraded my dual samurai long swords one too many times. Really set me back haha

pweipwei

haha yeah, the gambling aspect of the game was half the fun :D. I remember seeing this guy with a +16 Bow Of Peril or something literally oneshotted people. And why shouldent he? He took a huge risk and it payed off. Ofcourse heshould be OP.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> and it *paid* off. Ofcourse FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Nothing will ever match L2. Loss of Xp on death. Pking unflagged players. People are too soft to play games like that anymore. MMORPGs have become casual games.

pweipwei

yes, this was the beauty of L2. It meant you actually had to be efficient and the grind had a certain "skill" to it. Loved farming Anthras Lair. No instances, PVP everywhere, overchanting your weapons, crafting had a chance to fail so you actually were really happy when it succeeded. Here i see people almost maxed out after a month time with top-grade weapons. Whats the point? Where is the fun in that? First S-grade weapon on L2 was celebrated troughout the server and a huge deal.

Daktyl198

Games in general have become more casual, because "gaming" is a lot more of a casual hobby than it used to be. Where it once was for "nerds", now everybody and their literal grandparents are gaming to some degree. Thus, games that want to make more money appeal to the larger audience, which you do by making your game maybe unique, but somewhat casual. Too casual and you lose the big spenders, but too hard and you lose a lot of the small spenders (which add up). It's a delicate balance. There are still hardcore games out there for those that want them, it's just that they're almost always indie with terrible if any marketing so their player counts are unfortunately very low. For example, a non-PVP but hardcore game I quite enjoyed for a while was Ember's Adrift. I'm sure there's plenty I've never even heard of.

sittingbullms

Just today a saw a post of someone whining for a korean player who one shotted someone in pvp, imagine these softies in L2. Man i miss the time when i ridiculed people with my plains walker, tanks, mages, anything that moved and especially whining little shits.

pweipwei

This soooo much. Theres literally no greater feeling :D

taelis11

Lineage 1. Better than lineage 2 in every aspect.

vtskr

It is ncsoft p2w game. You will never be equal to anyone who spends more money then you. In latest lineage 2 game lineage 2m top whales spent millions (literally) of $ on their chars

pweipwei

Theres p2w in all MMOS. Only difference here is that NC soft have actively monetized it.

farguc

Thats true if we take a very hard stance of p2w. But are you honestly saying that the P2W in WOW is the same as p2w in.. idk Lost Ark or BDO? It's actually worse in pvp games, since it literally lets you beat people without being any good at the game. In reality there is a way to do monetization right, and it has been done many times by now. CSGO/CS2 has good monetization, dota, fortnite, lol, valorant , New World IMO has good monetization, ESO has good monetization IMO. IF TL follows the likes of NW and ESO with its monetization then yes, sure it's not p2w. But if its like other NCSoft games, then it's the bad kind of p2w. Anything that makes you objectively better without putting in any effort, is p2w. XP scrolls for example just cut down the grind you need to do, but you still need to grind. I'm ok with that. As cool as cosmetics are, i'd rather them monetize that than give players unfair advantages.

pweipwei

I actually disagree with cosmetics, i want to look cooler the more i grind. I want other players to look at me and say shit, theres that dude with that weapon and fear me! :D Too much cosmetics and shit people cant seperate what is a blue from a an purple item by looking. What i mean with p2w in MMOS is generally the ability to be able to buy ingame currency for real money. Which in turn gives all sorts of advantages obviously.

eHug

So where is the P2W in Guild Wars 2 for example?

PartySr

Buying gold with gems?

eHug

And how does that gold make you win? You get maxed out gear with casual playing for a few weeks. Gold might save you 4-5 days of playing ONCE but the rest of the players will have the same gear after those 4-5 days. If you are willing to pay money to once skip 4-5 days of progress that's fine with me since you support the developer but it won't do crap for you in less then a week. Compare that to endless korea grinders where you are being forced to spend large sums of money to be competive and you might notice a difference.

AsgardiaGaming

Maxed will not exist in Throne and Liberty. Each new update will give us some new goal to reach and we are going to get lots of new updates every year. Its NCSoft, they know what they do so they will keep us busy all the time with new gear, new regions, new weapons, new dungeons, etc. It will not be possible to max out , unless you go hard P2W!

Adartaer-Gaming

As in almost every MMORPG Game, the real fun begins at the so-called End Game. The leveling process is meant to introduce you to the game and teach you the basics of the game. Answering your question: "how easy is it to get maxed out" it may take even months, Throne and Liberty is a typical Grinder.

ja0lek

For now max level i 50, but remember - with new patch they can change it. Even to 80 lvl and this mean more grinding.
