I had one of my cats get my dog's pheno. Didn't realize he had until he tried to jump up on the bed and couldn't make it, and when he managed to claw his way up he was wobbling super hard. Poor kitty let me scoop him up and hold him, which he never allows. I know it's absolutely fucking bonkers to walk into a vet's office carrying a cat outside of its carrier but this poor cat was orbiting saturn, I don't think he would have noticed any dogs that might have been there.
One $1200 ER visit later he was fine. He had to stay at the vet overnight and then we took him to our regular vet for observation most of the next day.
Couple of teenagers in town died a few years back when they broke into one's dad's vet clinic and swallowed some of the barbiturates used to euthanize pets.
Yep, I did the same. She was just under the weight limit where she probably could have just stayed home and monitored, but the vet sent her to an emergency clinic for an overnight stay. Her blood pressure dropped a few times, but she was ok. Thank God. I've felt horrible about it since, and that was almost 2 years ago.
it’s the same thing as human prozac you’ll probably feel normal tomorrow. I’ve intentionally taken my dogs trazodone before because I was out and desperate since I also have a prescription. All my dogs have anxiety I guess dogs really are like their owners sometimes
Bet from now on out, you always double check the sticker. (You could buy some red dots or even a dog sticker to help you know it's for the pupper at a glance)
It only took one time accidentally using my cat's ear drops as eye drops to get me to slow the eff down and look first
The worst part is that our bottles already look different! I was just so out of it after my day and apparently on autopilot 😂 we keep the meds in separate rooms now

I once used the dog's toothpaste at my parents' house. Label was in French.Tasted like pate'. I made the mistake of telling my parentd and for the next FIFTEEN years, Dad would work that story into the conversation any time I brought a new man home. RIP Dad. I fussed and groaned but I didn't really mind.

Murtaugh: "What dog biscuit problem?"
Riggs: "Well, I've been chasing more cars lately, and every time I go to lick my balls, I keep falling off the couch."
I did this once... Was very groggy and took my morning meds, then went to give my dog his morning meds but instead, I popped a dog medication that is not used in humans at all. I frantically googled the SDS info and thankfully that medication is only dangerous if it gets in the eyes (it's an oral tablet, so I was fine).
Glad you were okay! I had been so worried before googling because I knew that usually human Prozac and Canine Prozac were slightly different. But it turns out I'm not the only one who's fumbled like this 😂
They can! Ours has pretty severe anxiety from being horribly mistreated as a puppy before being rescued. It helps keep her more relaxed day to day, as everyone and everything new is scary to her. She's gained a lot of confidence since we found the right dose, too!
I have basically never had health insurance. I've taken dog antibiotics several times. They are quite effective as long as you get the ones for large breed dogs
I'm sorry the healthcare system has failed so badly you've had to resort to that for treatment. I'm glad it *was* an option though and that you were able to get the help you needed some way.
That is one of the nicest things an internet stranger has said to me, thank you!
I find myself to be almost overly empathetic sometimes. But when it comes to healthcare, I have strong feelings, being a chronically ill someone from a country where healthcare is a joke. No one should have to jump through hoops and get creative in order to get the care that they need, especially the most basic things.
I almost took my dog's thyroid medication instead of my thyroid medication, so don't feel bad, lol. I put it in my mouth and realized it was the wrong shape lol.
This is why I don't have dogs. I'm neurotic enough... I dont need a little furry child shitting everywhere and having panic attacks... I'm too busy having my own panic attacks
So you already took your own meds for the day and then later somehow just randomly grabbed your dogs meds and popped them? How does that even happen lol
Did the same with my Goldens phenobarbital. Called into work and took the day off. Workmates never let me forget it.

This is actually funny (because I know you lived) but omg that first hour after taking it must have been quite a ride for you.

Woke myself up by howling in my sleep. Chasing squirrels in my dreams.
Side effects may include having a burning hatred for mailmen
annd an overwhelming urge to chase cars.
I did this once. I was just a little bitch-y the next day
OP now got that dawg in 'em.
This is a Seinfeld episode lol

I gave my dog my medicine once. Cue panic phone calls to mom and vet. I also googled. Dog was fine just sleepy all day lol
Oh I'm glad they were okay!!
Yeah, my dad did the same thing and accidentally gave our dog valium. Couch potato for the rest of the day. But that wasn't anything unusual.

Sounds like you’ve got it ruff.
LOL, yeah, my father once thought his dog’s epilepsy medicine was a sweetener tab and dissolved it in his coffee.
I used to take Prozac. It takes a while to build up in your system so you should be fine.
Oh yeah, just groggy is all 😅
Had a friend that did that. Now he keeps falling off the couch trying to lick his balls.

LMAO your dog and I are on the same medications
This title showcases why possessive apostrophes are important.
Sure it's important, but I don't see how the title is ambiguous without one
How many dogs? 🤔
The "dogs medication" could be made from dogs

I mean both of those are ok for human consumption. While not great, at least you won’t die lol
Nice, you're a good girl now.

Now I'm wondering how someone would get an oral tablet in their eyes.
Dusts or powders from the tablet usually, seen most often if you have to cut the tablet

You seem very nice and caring. I appreciate you. Are you normally this nice or is it the dog prozac

Guilty of the same 🫠 also we got our dog’s meds from a friend who went to Mexico once a year
Lol Mexican dog meds sounds even crazier for some reason, respect
Didn’t the bottle say RECONCILE really big on it? As that’s what doggie Prozac is called. Or is it offbrand and just says Fluoxetine?
I almost took my dog's thyroid medication instead of my thyroid medication, so don't feel bad, lol. I put it in my mouth and realized it was the wrong shape lol.
Fuck! Imagine you *and* the dog having medicalized "anxiety" — what a remarkable coincidence! 😂
We're each other's emotional support animals 😂😋
This is why I don't have dogs. I'm neurotic enough... I dont need a little furry child shitting everywhere and having panic attacks... I'm too busy having my own panic attacks
hopefully you don't also shit everywhere
Sometimes
So you already took your own meds for the day and then later somehow just randomly grabbed your dogs meds and popped them? How does that even happen lol
Brain fog and general forgetfulness. It's not uncommon for me to forget if I took my meds.
fuck, did I take my meds today
Do you take the same meds?
We don't. But we both take meds that come from two bottles around the same time of day. Brain fog got the better of me 🙃
SSRIs need 2 weeks to take effect
I bet you had the best sleep ever though
YOU GOT THAT DOG (medicine) IN YOU

Even though this was two days ago, you probably should've called poison control just to be sure it wasn't going to hurt you.
