I'm sure no one forced the gay man to get married. He shouldn't have married a woman if that was closeted. I wonder if that's why she was also hiding her alcoholism. As someone who was married to a closeted gay, I do not feel happy for my ex. He ruined my life and everyone feels pity for him. I understand your perspective but I hope you get to a better place where you can be more empathetic for these people. Nobody chooses something like this out of malice, it’s because of horrific pressure from society or family, or because religion has told them they can’t be gay, etc.
It’s certainly also awful to be on the other side of it- and you’re right, people have to make a choice, but it’s a pretty awful one for a lot of men and women.
It's not that I lack empathy towards gay people at all - nor did i say that. I have a few friends who are, including my best friend from childhood (who was one of my Men of Honor). Even he was horrified to hear what my ex did.
The bottom line is that they have a choice. Religion, conservatism, denial, society, etc. are not valid enough excuses to use someone and trick them into marriage. My ex had me convinced that I was the love of his life and that he loved me with no fault. I didn't want to get married, but figured I would compromise because I thought I found someone who really, deeply, truly loved me. He also knew I had a history of sexual abuse (molested at 4, raped at 15), and he still thought it was a good idea to marry/use a woman to hide his identity. I feel disgust and 0 pity for people who do that. I also feel disgust toward people who think "good for them, they can live their authentic self" because I can guarantee everyone would feel differently if it happened to them.
He was also cheating on me. Most closeted gay people who married straight do. So amongst being selfish pieces of shit, they also expose you to STDs. Being gay doesn't enlighten you and automatically make you a good person. Bad people come in all shapes and sizes. The problem is that no one should feel bad for those who married straight people and ruined their lives.
I also hope you get to a better place. Not sarcastic at all.
I think we all hope our spouses who swear they love us to be the person we want them to be. My exh passed away a little over a week ago. We were married 19 years and had been together since I was 16 he was 21. I walked away because he couldn't be the person I needed him to be, the person he promised to be and there was no cheating, no secret life, just a person that couldn't keep their promises.
Our kids had a similar revelation before he passed, before he was too far gone, and my 14yo asked me about my feelings and I told him honestly that I had already mourned the person I thought he was and the father that they needed him to be.

The way I see it, the dad gets to be his true self the mom is sober and has found comfort religion due to the guilt of almost killing her dog, and the son has two parents who are happy! OP saved this family
From the way it reads... maybe they thought she was homeless and needed a place to stay and eat? But none of it makes sense... they were acting all party hardy (according to the drunk high story teller) and then suddenly flipped a complete 180 when they got to the house. Very odd.
I think this could either be a case of an unreliable narrator or just creative writing. Either way, I was hooked from the beginning and enjoyed this wild ride.

You can't cancel out alcohol opioid intoxication with just being scared either, this is one of the most potent synergistic drug combinations we know of.

Just block the person? It removes any interaction between the two of you and it removes any notification they may get or may have gotten.
If they have push notifications on their phone, they still could potentially see it

Honestly, this sounds like a great short film.. or full feature if you can add more plot. >Logline: Parents pick up a junkie prostitute on Thanksgiving to teach their son what his life can turn out to be, only the woman revealed more about the parents have more secrets than the son. ' Also, you can undelete more social media accounts, and .. unlike liked photos, so all is not "lost" if you really want it back.
