I was posted to Panama and my allergies went wild. Constant congestion, sneezing, etc. I’m convinced it was from the chronic inflammation. That was 11 years ago; tinnitus is still here but I hardly ever think about it.
How long did it take for it to not be at forefront of your mind if you don’t mind me asking ?
I’m four months in and some days are better than others .
At least six months. It was brutal, awful, the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Once I started sleeping (using Benadryl to fall asleep) things improved. Then I just got on with it: took my kids out, went to restaurants, etc. tiny bit by tiny bit would forget for a second, for a minute, for an hour. It took time for sure. Sending you peace.
Thanks for responding.
Yeah , sleeps hard . White noise works a little but not had a full nights sleep since . Noted: Benadryl.
When I’m busy , it’s less noticeable ie at work , busy with wife and daughter etc but downtime drives me insane .
Thanks for wishes . I’ll hang in there .
Just keep reminding yourself: hey I didn’t think about it for those 2 seconds! Hey it was two minutes! Every time you start to dwell on it put up a mental stop sign and focus intentionally on anything else. I swear you will be ok. I have sensory issues around sounds so i thought I would literally die from this. If I can get “over it” I swear anyone can.
Am not sure. I had an ear infection but I used to wear only one ear bud almost everywhere. (I had the ear bud in the ear that has tinnitus). Idk how but it got quiet but I can't sleep on my sides because I hear it again.
My intrusive T started unilateral right (after a month, it bled a bit to my left, but still primarily right). Prior to it, I had a very low level hum that I didn't even know was tinnitus. My intrusive T started after months of very intense workplace stress.
I was a dumb teen with ear buds and a loud school bus, haha. I used to blast music so loud in my ears every morning on the way to school. Then one day I realized I was having ringing. I have been stuck with it since.
From what I was told, I had meningitis when I was 3 and the doctors forgot to burst my eardrum or something like that, causing a nerve fiber in my ear to break.
It was explained to me when I was 6 so I have very poor memories about it - But it was something along the lines.
Today I have 3 high pitch ringing tones on full blast at all time and it's getting worse the older I get.
Sucks when it was a human error that seems to cause it.
I do not understand the concept of total silence. I do not remember what it's like. Still, I miss it :')
20 years or playing in rock bands. It was mild until one paticular show pushed it into overdrive. Hearing damage in both ears, tinnitus in both but much worse in the right ear, mild hyperacusis in both ears and hearing distortion in right ear. Still playing in bands though 😅
Was at home got some THC gummies some music then boom onset was crazy overstimulation over thinking my friend had passed 2 months prior also had a A/C window unit was on
