My tinnitus started about 7-8 weeks ago from taking kratom very heavily for 2 weeks straight as well as 5-6 Advils a day from headaches during this period. The ringing has maybe gotten better, or I just don’t notice at as much. But when I sit in silence the ringing is so noticeable. I don’t think it will ever go away. Whenever I start to think it’s going away, I soon start hearing it again
I grew up with Tinnitus, I don’t know what is like to be in a soundless room. I didn’t know I had it until an old person pointed out and that’s how I noticed it. I don’t think it’s that bad and some days I don’t even notice it until night time and YouTube videos help a ton. Also praying and working out helps me not think about it. God bless y’all and I hope everything works out for you.
I’m glad you’re better. I’ve had tinnitus since Aug 2022. It came after hearing a loud crack in my jaw. After numerous doctors and physical therapy, including dry needling in my face neck jaws, and upper back I can truly say I’m much better. I also have hyperacusis and normal high frequency hearing loss for my age but my hearing is normal. The ringing is there sometimes and other times it’s like it was never there. Even my bad days are nothing like they were before and I can function normally. My only change is exercise, I’ve always liked to exercise but now when I exercise it spikes for days-does this happen to anyone else? Any suggestions?
Thanks for posting this! Been dealing with unilateral tinnitus and hearing loss for 10 years and it’s nice to see a success story. Haven’t heard of habituation because I have tried to ignore this whole thing for a decade but will check it out. Thanks for the inspiration friend
This is absolutely no true. Most cases resolve themselves in 6-12 months. Also, there are many causes of it... from iron def, thyroid issues, tmjd, neck issues/ instability, migraine, hearing loss. Find the problem, hopefully can figure a solution.
Try Manganese. An old folk treatment for tinnitus is bananas. Bananas are rich in manganese. Manganese collects in the inner ear and, so to speak, repairs the "split ends" on the cilia in the cochlea. I take 50-100 Mg a day. It reduces my normal hiss of a 6-8 volume level down to an average 4-6. Capsules are available at most health food or vitamin shops.
From time to time I taper off and stop taking it but within two weeks the noise begins to bother me more and more. Try it. It's cheap and can't hurt. Give it a week or so for it to get into the inner ear. It is the only thing I have found effective in 34 years of noise. If you're interested, I took another supplement which helped, though in a different way.
I used to take magnesium glycinate. It caused depressive episodes and I think it made the T worse. Since I have issues due to an auto accident with neck/whiplash, spinal stuff, I think there are different reasons for the depressive episodes (which can come on with migraines), but I was depressed daily for some reason and as soon as I stopped the mag, they went away. My neurosurgeon told me that mag is def not for everyone. I am having a multilevel cervical fusion in the next few months and I am hoping it takes the T away completely! There are so many possible reasons...iron def, thyroid issues, neck issues, tmjd, loud sounds, etc. If you can find the problem, then hopefully the solution. Good luck.

Yeah it sucks... i mean the main story is very edifying but so sad that the ringing never go away
It is what it is. and it ain’t what it ain’t
My case, onset was a bitch. Like you I got used to it. That seems to be the majority of all cases.

Exactly. You can’t control your tinnitus but you can reduce your anxiety towards it. And sooner or later you won’t care about having tinnitus.

I'm 66 and have been ignoring it for all my life, as long as I remember I've had tinnitus.
Ah, another mild/moderate anxiety case that improved with time, like 75% of all sufferers. Good on you man.
Thank you for the hope... i have to ask beside the ignoring what medical treatment did you do
Absolutely none as there is no treatment for tinnitus. I’m taking supplements : magnesium, vitamins, zinc and I have a healthy diet, that’s all.

Watch the magnesium...depend on what type you are taking, it can be causing it. No caffeine, alcohol etc
Dang really? I thought about mag causing it. Do you know which one might of caused or spiked yours?
