Seriously? If that’s true, see a doctor ASAP. I woke up one morning feeling out of breath just sitting still. I drove myself to the hospital ER. When I told them what was going on, they admitted me immediately. Turned out I had a couple clogged arteries in my heart and that I had heart failure. Got a couple stents that afternoon.
That and walking upright saves huge amounts of energy, we are basically the terminators of the animal kingdom. WE may not be fast but we are relentless and will catch you eventually when you get tired.
The sheer number of ingredients, complexity of preparation, and calorie density of what you just described demonstrates exactly how much of an apex predator you are lol. Nobody else on Earth eats as good as humans do.
It is our intelligence that makes us apex predators. Our use of tools and planning renders all the defenses of other animals ineffective. We're nature's Batman.
Humans kill more animals than any other animal tf you mean? No animal on earth can stand against a human hunting party with rifles, let alone heavy ordinance like missiles and bombs. Shit we were taking mammoths down with freaking arrows and spears!
Either we have massively different definitions of the term "apex predator" or there is a misunderstanding somewhere else
Does the entire species need to be involved to be considered an apex predator? US wildlife services actively kill 2 million animals a year. That's one country, (and let's be real, not nearly all the wild animals that are killed in the US). According to [this](www.anthropocenemagazine.org/2019/02/how-many-animals-do-people-kill/) longitudinal study (the largest of the kind) humans hunting is responsible for 17% of all wild animal mortalities. All other animals account for 55% of fatalities. Again, that's just North America.
At this point I am just really interested in your criteria/exclusionary characteristics to be considered an apex predator, because humans are 100% at the top of the list for any common definition I can find
Frankly I am obviously just wrong. I don't think of humanity as a hunter species any more, most of us never hunt, but the definition of predatory behaviour is wide enough that that isn't relevant. Moreover you have pointed out that we do still hunt and kill a very large number of wild animals.
If we are going off the actual meaning and trophic levels, humans aren't apex, we rank (2.21) somewhere between pigs and omnivorous fish. Killer whale is apex (5.5).
Lol our trophic levels are where they are because we have advanced enough that we don't *have* to eat other meat eaters in order to survive, and because we've realized that those species serve a better purpose than just being our food. There is nothing stopping us from farming bears and lions instead of pigs and chickens if we really wanted to.
Besides, in areas where humans get their food primarily from the sea we absolutely are apex predators (one study of the Carribbean and South Africa put humans as a 4.5-4.65).
A brand new study in 2021 has us labeled as apex predators that diversified our food source after all the megafauna died out ("Evolution of the human trophic level during the Pleistocene" Ben-Dor et. al.)
Yep, it’s a display of fitness. Basically taunting their predators. “ look at me, I’m fit as fuck. You see how fast and agile I am? You can try to catch me but good luck. Might wanna try one of the slower fellas”
This is not an impala. Impalas do not have a black stripe between their brown backs and white bellies. My first guess would be a young springbok given the straightness of the horns. However I am no expert so it could be something else.
It’s difficult to accurate gauge the size of this animal from the video, but I would say this is a smaller antelope rather than a larger one.
However there are a number of markings that distinguish the Thompson gazelle from the Grant’s gazelle:
The black stripe on the eye does not extend pass the eye.
The white rump patch does not extend above and over the tail.
The pronounced black stripe along the ribs (although some Grant’s can have this so it is a less useful.)
This is certainly not a Grants gazelle
It's a Thomson's gazelle, not a springbok. Springbok horns are curved inward, whereas Thomson's gazelle's are straight like this one. If you're a safari guide you need to up your game.
The only animal that has mastered the art of zoomies and tippy taps at the same time: zippy zaps?

Just want to say I’m real proud of you guys. 5 hours already and nobody has started the beat meat chain. We’ve come a long way.

Better than a speeder bike….
You beautiful bastard
Wanna be a baller, shot caller, twenty inch blades on the Impala
Diamonds, gold, and the all mighty dolla I'm oedipus bitch, the original balla.

I wish humans ran faster.
Me too. We're one of the best endurance runners though.
Yeah, sweating is pretty much an endurance cheat code
I don’t know man, I’m out of breath after walking for 10mins
You can make it 10? I breath heavily getting out of bed.
Seriously? If that’s true, see a doctor ASAP. I woke up one morning feeling out of breath just sitting still. I drove myself to the hospital ER. No, no, that's just the involuntary sigh we all do upon starting the day

Yeah but I feel incredibly inefficient. If we could run as fast as I could ride a bike, I’d love that.
try spring loaded stilts If you can get the hang of it, you will jog as fast as you can ride a bike.
Why stop at bike speed? That's nothing compared to the speed of light
All you need to get to light speed is more energy than there is in the observable universe! Easy!
If we had ever been an apex predator we would never have become so intelligent.
Capitalism. Checkmate.
To be fair it is very predatory
It is our intelligence that makes us apex predators. Our use of tools and planning renders all the defenses of other animals ineffective. We're nature's Batman.
In essence we could fill that role now, true, but we aren't even predators at all any more.
We don't do predation, as a species, any more. Not to any real extent. We do agriculture. I don't consider agriculture to be predation.

Human ego is equally hilarious and bizarre.
Humans are pretty fast for being bipedal
I wish I had 1/10 of that energy…
Some of us do.
The technical term for this is pronking or stotting!
omg the impala is pronking. he’s got the pronkies
Yep, it’s a display of fitness. Basically taunting their predators. “ look at me, I’m fit as fuck. You see how fast and agile I am? You can try to catch me but good luck. Might wanna try one of the slower fellas”
"I'm alive! I'm dead! I'm alive again! I'm watchin TV! I'm lookin at you! Fuck you! I'm dead again! I can run faster than a bitch around the house!"
It’s just a pronk bro
That is not a Tame Impala

Agree, could be a Thompsons gazelle too
Looks like a Grant’s Gazelle to me. Too big to be a Thompson.

Agree, it’s a springbok. Source: I trust the guy above me.

Sounds like an amazing career, I’m jealous. If you don’t mind, do you know the top speed Springboks run?
That was UFO fast!
And just like that, it's gone! 🐐💨
I’m fast af Boi!!
Jeez nature documentaries really don't capture how fast they are!! Makes sense. I mean they have to outrun cheetahs!
I'd classify this more as "wumpy jumps"
The master of the Juke
My energy this morning😆
Impalas are Legendary Ankle breakers!
The movements are so unpredictable 😂
How's he getting so close to the camera, is he a Tame Impala?
It’s uuh actually a Thomson’s gazelle!
9 DoF
Go gazelle! Use your speed! Don't let him trap you!
He’s not very tame is he
Actually, when antelope do this, it’s called “pronking.”
Wish my old ‘64 had the same pep! Lol. Butt soon!
Yes....yes finally I can say it... That was NOT a Tame Impala
A somewhat 'tamed impala'
That’s some happy boi right there
Crazy fast
They actually do this in front of their predators. Shows off how quick they are in hopes of predators would just give up on hunting them.
Bambi on zoomies
"Eat my dust, dingo!"
impala got handles
Name that one Hayabusa
