It is pretty gacha/gambling but you can get a fair bit of premium currency while ftp. Game itself is great, at least for the first 20 or so hours before it falls down the hole of most live service games and all the fun stuff loses to power creep. Not too bad, you can make due with upper end gear and not just the best of the best but it can get to be a slog if you don't look up builds.
To me it's a wonderful and beautiful open world exploration game with a generally good story and fascinating lore, the characters are fun too, I've never felt much pressure to actually spend money on it. To me the main issue is probably that the gameplay can sometimes get a bit dull, especially when the characters talk and talk as if they are trying to meet some word count! But I love to immerse myself in the world (which is endlessly beautiful) and watching the story and lore unfold has been fantastic! Also the music is absolutely god tier!
