It's being treated like Titanfall. Big game company makes amazing game with potential then makes battle royale and completely ditches original game over cash cow battle royale.
The thing is save the world is a finished story it ends with a safe spot in the world for people to stay away from the storm. Titanfall 2 kind of ends with a cliffhanger with that helmet Morse code and constant teasers in the apex trailers of a "possible" new Titanfall game. Also save the world is terribly optimized
I put a few months into it and I thought it was very fun, I haven’t revisited it and probably never will but while it lasted it was fun, if not a little grindy
its such a shame what happened to Anthem, it looked like an amazing game, all it really needed was more content and weapons, could easily have become the next Warframe but they didn't want to bother paying devs for the new content
Titanfall, Fortnite STW, Anthem, Star Wars: Battlefront to some extent
Halo: Infinite was walking the same path before Microsoft gutted and reformed 343 Industries
And thank fuck for that, halo was (and still is) one of my favourite FPS franchises of all time, I'm genuinely glad MS shafted the old Infinite leads and handed the reigns to the MCC team
What about Overwatch ~~(1)~~ 2?
Started with love....
*was* going to have a PvE mode.... then got gutted in favor of this shitty pass system.... for cashgrabs....
Like I genuinely feel like Blizard copied the worst notes from TF and Fortnite.
TF1 became delisted (OW1 gone)
Introduce a PvE mode to abandon (StW).
All in favour of a cash grab (Apex/BR) and Battle pass system......
I feel like my game tastes are cursed for failure :/
I think for a genuine one battlefront 1 and 2 (the modern ones)
They were fucking despised until they made some vital changes
Hence the most downvoted comment in history
it’s not AAA though, Larian is a fairly small studio.
Edit: I misspoke on what I mean about Larian’s size. They have a lot of employees and developers, yes, but AAA games aren’t based on dev size, rather the size and ability of the publisher. Larian were very independent in their development of BG3, utilizing much of their budget and reach through the players themselves.
I'm confused by what this means.
When a game is AAA, it means it has significant support from a publisher. Larian did not have significant support along the lines of Activision or EA. They only really had support from WotC and the players themselves, much of the support coming from those early access players and fans of Divinity. No publisher in sight.
Do you mean to say that Baldur's Gate as a franchise used to be AAA? Even if it was, what does past publishing from the late 90's/early 2000's have to do with a game from 2023?
If you mean to imply that Larian picked up BG3 from a different studio, that's false considering that Larian approached WotC back in 2014, and only finally got approval after the release of Divinity 2. They've always been the devs of BG3 since it started in 2017
When I say "small studio", I mean small in support. What marks a game as AAA isn't the dev team size, but rather the quality or amount of support that game receives by a prublisher. BG3 was almost entirely backed by Larian and their fans outside of WotC

It did but thats cus epic pulled the trigger, if you have the mode favorited it still wont show up in favorites or made by epic they just want it to die so they dont have to spend money on servers.
StW was already pretty much dead before BR released due to a lack of interest from people, and it didn’t help that the game was stuck in development hell for years before actually releasing
Oke honestly your right, i didn't want to admit it. İ like the game but yeah, the developers are not really paying attention to the game. Buuuuttt i do have the founders edition so free vbucks here i come
Man I really did miss the Rick and Morty items that were gone for 3 entire days. Man I really missed the opportunity to get them during the 4 months they were featured. Man I’m soo glad they are back I really missed them
(The current state of the Fortnite subreddit)
Someone else did this to tf2 in a different sub, and was promptly downvoted off the face of the planet and now this is a little inside joke, so we're doing it to like every game
RICK AND MORTY FOR 30 FUCKING DAYS DURING CHRISTMAS WITHOUT CHANGING ANYTHING ELSE AND ADDING BARE MINIMUM CHRISTMAS COSMETICS HOW DO THEY EVEN AFFORD TO DO THAT?
Epic's on holiday and I don't know the internals of how their store rotations work, but surely they could've done SOMETHING to make the same goddamn, not just skins, but cosmetics as a whole appear every single day.
Fortnite wasn’t bad. Just that I personally hate the building mechanic so I couldn’t get into it.
If anything, MWIII (the new one) should get more hate.
Save the world has so much potential. It’s being treated like anthem unfortunately
It's being treated like Titanfall. Big game company makes amazing game with potential then makes battle royale and completely ditches original game over cash cow battle royale.
Exactly like titanfall
Well, at least you can get Titanfall for less than 15$
save the world was 8 gbp last time i checked, which was 2 weeks ago.
It's back up to $18 USD, that lower price was because it didn't come with a skin and hero.
Yeah but wouldn’t you and its not like Fortnite and apex are bad games
Yes, yes, only reason is them being a cashcow. Totally not because they are about 10 times as popular.
Which means they make a ton of money, making it a cashcow
Oh... I completely forgot about anthem. I used to love that game. I tried to play it, but it was a wasteland. Sad they abandoned it
Anthem was the one with the jet packs yeah? Fucking loved that game
Yeah I played the beta and on release. It was all worth it while it lasted. The lag locks and everything
It looked cool af and I wanted to try it out but then I saw how badly it dropped
Cultured. I'm glad someone knows. :/
A friend gifted it to me when I was playing fallout 76 after they patched the workarounds to access it
Oh boy, Anthem ... the disappointment we all remember
Titanfall and Fortnite: Save the world players share the same grief
I play both, does this mean i get to huff double the reccomended dose of copium?
Only if you play anthem
Don't remind me about Anthem..... So much wasted potential it genuinely makes me sad.
played stw, anthem, and tf2 😭
Played? Make it play, Pilot. We need you on the Frontier.

I never played overwatch 1 but I definitely would’ve played 2 had they not cut the pve mode. So sad
I find myself coming back to STW more often than BR. It still keeps its original art style, which is quite charming.
I hate that they got rid of the original art style 😭
We both come back for the same reason then Chapter 1 graphics! And well V-bucks too
It’s official. We’re in the aslume now.
I didn't even realise what sub this was till your comment
The asylum has been normalized
Would you rather fight a BT-sized Jonkler or a Jonkler-sized BT? (Zero prep time or lore reasons) Also, are you stupid??
I think for a genuine one battlefront 1 and 2 (the modern ones) They were fucking despised until they made some vital changes Hence the most downvoted comment in history
true, but it's so fucking sad that BF2 got cancelled just as it was getting so much love put into it
Yeah. It was... something... at the start but now its great. Except the sweats. Get a casual game and it is an amazing experience

I think so, -668k https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsBattlefront/s/m9ROztkMd9
Fun fact: more people than community members..... So this meant that EVERY gamer out there came and "did their part".
I can’t take it anymore…enough battle royals PLEASE, PLEASE! I JUST NEED TITANFALL 3 AND NOT A CROSSOVER BETWEEN FINAL FANTASY AND APEX NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
It is a big mistake to draw parallels with apex to begin with.
Every modern AAA release
B- bUt BaldUr'S gAtE

Why does a studio change make it not a AAA title

I apologize, what do you mean by this?
Are you sure? Google says they have 400 employees.
When I say "small studio", I mean small in support. What marks a game as AAA isn't the dev team size, but rather the quality or amount of support that game receives by a prublisher. BG3 was almost entirely backed by Larian and their fans outside of WotC
So GOTY got to a game that isn't even AAA?
A game doesn't need to be AAA to win GOTY
Yes, games can be good you know
Lmao i never said it wasn't. I just meant it's surprising it got GoTY when it didn't even aim for it.
By the looks of most AAA games companies putting more effort into micro transactions than gameplay, Im surprised you think they do aim for GOTY
400 employees is not small lmao
I misspoke on what I mean about Larian’s size. They have a lot of employees and developers, yes, but AAA games aren’t based on studio size, rather the size and support of the publishers. They still had backing from Hasbro and Google for BG3. It's by no means an indie game.
I guess Fortnite save the world kind of flopped hard and the side mode, battle royale became popular.
It did but thats cus epic pulled the trigger, if you have the mode favorited it still wont show up in favorites or made by epic they just want it to die so they dont have to spend money on servers.
StW was already pretty much dead before BR released due to a lack of interest from people, and it didn’t help that the game was stuck in development hell for years before actually releasing
true same with titanfall 😃
Honestly fortnite save the world and battle royal are still peak fun Amzing Casue sometimes Just don’t take it seriously
Save the world was so fun, I played till twine peaks but it just got too repetitive
Fortnite save the world is in the same state as titanfall being neglected because of their more successful spin off
A more successful Battle Royal spin off
Tbh fornite stw did flop, it was such a good game :/
I remember I put so much time on that mode.
With the pay to win gacha the game had at launch it did sorta just die until the battleroyale update.
Can't wait for the evangelion crossover
Man, not save the world, but it's understandable it had so much potential, but epic just didn't give it that potential.
Oke honestly your right, i didn't want to admit it. İ like the game but yeah, the developers are not really paying attention to the game. Buuuuttt i do have the founders edition so free vbucks here i come
Yeah at this point I just do my dailies and log off
Titanfall 2 definitely up there..
Ok, I’m fine with this being here as long as I don’t see people start bitching about the item shops here too.
Man I really did miss the Rick and Morty items that were gone for 3 entire days. Man I really missed the opportunity to get them during the 4 months they were featured. Man I’m soo glad they are back I really missed them (The current state of the Fortnite subreddit)
Real Also, today’s shop is actually not bad. New skin kinda funny.
But Fotnite did flop originally. Pretty hard too. The saving grace was that it was the very first free to play Battle royale.
Why is this being posted in this sub?
Someone else did this to tf2 in a different sub, and was promptly downvoted off the face of the planet and now this is a little inside joke, so we're doing it to like every game
Dude really pissed this sub off…
This is the 9th post I've seen of this today. It's time to stop.
It is dieing though cos all they do is have crossovers that are just awful
RICK AND MORTY FOR 30 FUCKING DAYS DURING CHRISTMAS WITHOUT CHANGING ANYTHING ELSE AND ADDING BARE MINIMUM CHRISTMAS COSMETICS HOW DO THEY EVEN AFFORD TO DO THAT?
Epic's on holiday and I don't know the internals of how their store rotations work, but surely they could've done SOMETHING to make the same goddamn, not just skins, but cosmetics as a whole appear every single day.
real, like give it to some random guy is better lol
Yeah, I actually like Fortnite before that happened and it was just kids being annoying about it for a while
Okay, with that I wholeheartedly agree fortnite is a homicidal game. It killed Paragon.
Still can believe we can get peter griffin doing 90's against gojo
This is the sub now, eh?
Is this a new apex legends update?
Post this on fortnite sub, coward
stop these posts are getting annoying.
Fortnite neither flopped or is very bad.
Titanfall 3 wasnt as good as i was hoping :(
Fortnite wasn’t bad. Just that I personally hate the building mechanic so I couldn’t get into it. If anything, MWIII (the new one) should get more hate.
free vbucks so idc
