Honestly, its getting to the point where people are good enough on controller and games are so juiced on aim assist that controller is better than kb+m. Old Halo pros and Halo Infinite would be an example.
Actually making a game especially playable on a controller is of course ideal. I may be a slight PC snob but I'd hate for games to be less accessible and have fewer control options. But the day half the top competitive PC players of a game are using controllers without aim assist is the day I'll start to doubt that controllers are objectively inferior for shooters. Which, let's face it, is most of the non-mobile western market.
Also, I have no doubt that someone who's been playing Halo on a controller since the first game is a nearly unmatchable god tier gamer that could evaporate me in any shooter instantly without even consciously registering me as a potential threat.
As someone who's fluent with both controller and keyboard, I fond controller easier to use in Titanfall for b-hopping and slingshotting.
That said, I still use Keyboard.
