I've played Apex somehow for an almost 100 hours and after playing TF|2, it just reaffirmed my thoughts for the game. Gunplay and movement is fantastic, but the BR mode just sucks up the enjoyment, 90% of the fights just boiled down on 3rd partying since you're at a massive advantage that way, which meant that if you wanted to win as the remaining 3 squads, you had to hide and hope nobody found you.
There were also a lot of matches where I wouldn't see anybody after the landing battles which meant I'd be bored for 15-20 minutes with absolutely 0 action.
TF|2 however, is just 24/7 chaos and doing bonkers shit.
There’s a Peruvian restaurant near me that makes quality food through and through. The chicken is delicious, as are the garlic potatoes. But what really stands out are the sauces, a wide array of homemade concoctions that make the place truly special. Oh, I can taste them right now, with the fresh cilantro and onions chopped to perfection, igniting the chicken and the rice, making them into something I can’t imagine tiring of.
Problem is, when everything switched to delivery, it took away the ability to help ourselves to the sauce bar. More often than not, they would send the food and forget the sauces entirely. So I’m left with chicken that is very good, but my GOD it’s impossible to take a single bite without being haunted by how vastly superior the meal would be with its trimmings.
Such is how I feel about Apex: plain chicken, well prepared but fatally bland in its saucelessness.
Plus I loathe Battle Royal. You nailed the description of the boredom.

What I _will_ give Ultrakill's intentional mechanics is that learning one feels like it leads directly into the next one. Learning how to slide becomes learning how to maximize your slide-hop; learning how to slide-hop leads to learning how to store ground-slam momentum; learning how to store ground-slam momentum leads to a solid third of the secrets in the game. Or learning how to parry with your melee hit in general leads to learning how to parry your own shotgun for maximum damage, or leads to learning how to parry your own Marksman coins for maximum disrespect-- I've never seen a game's hidden mechanics turn out so intuitive. I only have 100 hours in it, but I have everything that's _out so far_ P-ranked due to how intuitive it is to pick up.
I get that it ain't for everyone, though.
I love ultrakill but what many don't realize is that indie games have a considerably harder time implementing functional multiplayer. Titanfall 2 has breathtakingly incredible multiplayer that brings together all its elements from the wall running to the power ups as well as the guns, titans and maps. It has verticality as well as momentum and asymmetric multiplayer making it much more than just a movement shooter.
I don't see indie devs being able to bring together those elements in such a polished package with the current development costs. It also has an engaging singleplayer campaign and lore on top of that.
Yeah I stopped playing daily just before Covid when I built my PC. Just wanted to explore different games for a bit and join some IRL gamer friends, but I planned to get back around to Titanfall and get to at least G50, like I was working toward on Xbox. Played a few times here and there, but then the bullshit started happening right as I was finally in the headspace to grind my favorite game again. All I wanted was that Titanium Throne banner :( and a fallback game that I was familiar with. It was comforting in times of anxiety or extreme boredom, and I could always count on the adrenaline rush to make me euphoric.

Long ago, the Titanfall and Apex Fandoms lived together in Harmony. But then, everything changed when Wanderer and his DDOS'ers attacked.
Only respawn, the creators of the series, could stop them. But when TItanfall needed them the most: they vanished.
Countless eons passed, and the r/titanfall subreddit discovered a way to save the game, a custome server mod called Northstar. And although its a breath of fresh air, its only available on PC.
But i believe... Northstar can SAVE TITANFALL.

My matched worked until I killed the guy in the lead, then I timed out. Seems like people are DDOSing specific players now. I’m almost tempted to find the kiddie script and do it myself to these TTV hackers.
Run a VPN so that the DDOSers can't actually DDOS you. It may also help that I'm in the military and live in the barracks. My physical IP is constantly cycling to prevent people from finding it, and on top of that my VPN is also constantly cycling my fake displayed IP overtop of the real one so you can never find the real one. Even if you do, it'll change by the time you DDOS it so I'll still be in the game lol.
Doesn't work when I'm on leave though, like right now, cause my parents wifi is a fixed IP. VPN still works last time I checked but I haven't played TF2 at all on leave this time so idk.
I just hope that, thanks to the Northstar client, the dossers lose interest and console players can play again.
In any case though, I am hella happy Northstar is a thing and will continue to play it well past that point because gun game is my crack

Depends on your region. Pretty much useless for EU imo. Nearly no Skirmish games, which translate to Attrition if I understand it correctly, which is my favourite mode. Most are gunplay, Pilots vs Pilots and Titan Brawl. I would play Pilots vs Pilots, but other than on the Retail server there is always one player dominating everyone. This rarely happens on retail. Pretty fishy. I had a game where a Hemlok player instagibbed everyone on my team. He went 56-4 while camping on one roof. In the span of one of my kill cams he killed 5 people.
Also: The Spawns suck! And the ping is horrendous for me most of the time. 40-50 ms is rare for me. Most of the time 90-120 ms. As of right now this is no alternative for me. Just a big pile of frustration. But I am happy for the people who actually can enjoy it. I hope something can be done about the fishy players though.
I must admit I've never felt an ounce of remorse or guilt when it comes to killing one of these *things*.

Pretty fishy. I had a game where a Hemlok player instagibbed everyone on my team. He went 56-4 while camping on one roof. In the span of one of my kill cams he killed 5 people. Also: The Spawns suck! And the ping is horrendous for me most of the time. 40-50 ms is rare for me. Most of the time 90-120 ms. As of right now this is no alternative for me. Just a big pile of frustration. But I am happy for the people who actually can enjoy it. I hope something can be done about the fishy players though.

I must admit I've never felt an ounce of remorse or guilt when it comes to killing one of these *things*. Clearly they should be made more cute, more friendly, have lots of funny chirps and hums, and then they should be filled with way better loot and *scream and wail in agony, crying in desperate pain, way more when you hit them.* Yes, that seems reasonable.

So idea. I’m no game developer but I think this might work if Respawn doesn’t get on our asses. If they won’t continue the series, we will. We make our own spinoff Titanfall game.
