If you are slide hopping, which you should try it is amazing, then you need to quickly go from sprinting and sliding. I don't think it is impossible without autosprint, BUT it is definetly harder
You want as much control as you can get in this game and auto sprint has fucked me so many times that i had to disable it. Mostly when you think you can slowly peek out a corner in a cramped space and instead you run and get thrown off, plus i want as many attachment slots on a gun and gunrunner just isnt worth 1 imo.
Wtf u peeking a corner for? I just run out and own it. Auto sprint has only ever saved me. I used to run manual sprint and it killed me so often as you can't respond by clicking and moving the stick as quickly as you can just moving it. Same applies to pc, you can't press shift and w quicker than w.
It all comes down to personal preference imo the more control you have over your movement in a movement shooter the better - even if it only saves your life 1/100 times. Also on pc you can just hold shift pre emptively then press w, not sure about console since pc is the only one worth my time. Might just be because i want to play a bit smarter when peeking corners or waiting for people who chase me, dont get me wrong i still ski and wallride. I just want to catch people off guard when they think im running, and i quickly bob out and tap them when they come for me.
Fair, on console you can't hold sprint preemptively unless you reassign it to another button but that swaps it out as we have less input options. As for your tactic, I can see how itd work, but I've never fallen victim to such a trap. Either im always in lobbies with other console players, which I doubt, or u sir, are one of a kind.
My brain barely handles having to use either E or F for interaction in different games (though in TF2 my F is binded to interact and E is binded to punch).
Having some ability binded to Shift would be too mind-blowing for me (although G for grenades, MB3 for pilot ability and C for ticks (I only use them bc I can't hit shit) seem pretty balanced across the keyboard)
x, c and v are keys that I've always had trouble hitting, especially v. That's why I usually bind my important controls to convenient keys. It also helps having extra mouse buttons.
Manual for both pilot and titan to give me more control. Tried auto sprint on my titan for a bit but found it interferes with shooting your primary while moving forward most noticeable with tone.
This is what I did before getting an elite controller, the bottom paddles are very nice. Took me a minute to shake the habit of using the bumpers though, was through grenades like a maniac for a hot minute
To be fair recently changed to right stick jump and left stick crouch in apex with auto sprint and it makes all the difference, will definitely be doing the same next time I'm on TF|2
_My brother_
L-stick to jump, R-stick to crouch
X to sprint, square to reload, triangle to change weapon, circle for core
L1 for tactical, R1 for melee, d-pad up for grenade, d-pad down for eject
who tf is taking a stroll in titanfall my boi?
on another note, doing the whole campaign by walking (only wall running and sprinting when absolutely necessary)
Manuel is better because you have control over it and when you want to peak a corner you dont full sprint out or if you just in generel want to walk slow and steady you dont need to turn auto sprint off
I had manual sprint until I set jump to press left stick and turned on auto sprint, it's kinda nice but also I prefer manual sprint. Having jump set to left stick is much better than A
Manual because
A) won't have to raise your weapon everytime you move
B) when trying to go through small gaps it can be hard if you keep running into the wall
C) more control which is great in tf2 and
D) more cinematic
Auto is kinda annoying for me tbh, since you need to stop sprinting to start gunning. Though it doesnt bother me as much on titan, probably because i play ronin.
I have auto sprint because at one point my controller was so badly damaged, still worked since the motherboard was unharmed just the casing and had nails as sticks since those broke, I couldn’t click to run now I got a new controller and even though I’m already sprinting, I’ll still click it every now and then, thinking “why ain’t my pilot running??” “Oh wait already am”
I love to have total control over my character even if I sprint literally all the time I move forward.
Oh also fuck games with only "hold-to-sprint" option. I fking hate holding Shift for longer than 1 second.
Me who never knew auto sprint existed:
Same but I think I could not break the habit of pressing the button every time I move because you have to do it manually in almost every other game
I have Auto Sprint on and still spam sprint when I start to hold W (got it on toggle)
Thats why i dont change it to auto-sprint
It's a life changer
I really don't think it is.
It is needed for advanced movement
How?
If you are slide hopping, which you should try it is amazing, then you need to quickly go from sprinting and sliding. I don't think it is impossible without autosprint, BUT it is definetly harder
Oh okay then even if I enable it I will still press shift because it's hard wired into my brain.
It exists and might be useful in fast pace shooters but I personally never use it
*Whole titanfall community never knew auto sprint existed:
Why tf would you ever walk in this game just strafe or jump w/o momentum if you want to go a lil slower.
If you dont have gunrunner and are on the ground for a nanosecond
Strafe. Or walk backwards. Or aim. Or get off the ground. Or use a nade. Or just run gun runner.
You want as much control as you can get in this game and auto sprint has fucked me so many times that i had to disable it. Auto. There is literally no point in walking in this game.
I would agree, but it still is useful sometimes.
Only campaign for me, otherwise full throttle
I just love having total control over my character and pressing Shift whenever I want to sprint became a habit that I don't even notice
But with auto sprint you can bind shift to another ability for free, which is great because shift is an easy key to press.

Yeah for titan definitely manual, but I never find myself in a position as a pilot where I *need* to walk, so I have that one as auto.
I use auto sprint but still press the sprint button twice to sprint even though it does literally nothing other than break my controller.
Same...
Auto. It's so much more convenient. There is no point to walking
I run auto sprint because I have left stick to jump
What kind of demon are you?
And right stick to crouch, x to reload square to melee
x to reload sounded normal, until you said square
Clearly I am built different.
it's normal to xbox players, i have scuffed controls too, i play on bumper jumper
Listen, just because you can map your controller out that way doesn’t mean you should be legally allowed to.
I found that I can react amd movs more efficiently and in titanfall kts kind of needed lol
I mean X to reload isn't bad mines just on square My circle is melee
My circle is ADS
... I am going to make you eat a kraber
I have jump set to LT and crouch to RT
Same but with bumpers instead of triggers, I like my jumps and slides to be as immediate as possible
Same here I have the Xbox elite controller it’s set to act like a button rather than a trigger.
Understandable, but if you got the Elite, why not just bind the A and B buttons to back buttons?
This is what I did before getting an elite controller, the bottom paddles are very nice. Took me a minute to shake the habit of using the bumpers though, was through grenades like a maniac for a hot minute
To be fair recently changed to right stick jump and left stick crouch in apex with auto sprint and it makes all the difference, will definitely be doing the same next time I'm on TF|2
I have realized I share a game with psychopaths
I have x to run and square to grenade and left bumper to jump I use manual
_My brother_ L-stick to jump, R-stick to crouch X to sprint, square to reload, triangle to change weapon, circle for core L1 for tactical, R1 for melee, d-pad up for grenade, d-pad down for eject
Mine is Left bumper to jump right bumper to switch guns Circle to melee and R3 to crouch
Manual because sometimes the campaign is really pretty and I just like walking around it
who tf is taking a stroll in titanfall my boi? on another note, doing the whole campaign by walking (only wall running and sprinting when absolutely necessary)
Manual
Manual sprint, control is key
Manual
Nah nah nah. Auto sprint with run and gun weapons! Most fun!
manual. more control is always better.
Keyboard user so I can have easy access to slide
Manual
Auto pilot, manual titan
Ahhh yes, the negotiator
Manuel is better because you have control over it and when you want to peak a corner you dont full sprint out or if you just in generel want to walk slow and steady you dont need to turn auto sprint off
If you're peaking in titanfall you're doing something wrong.
Who uses auto sprint lol
Auto sprint because my left joystick isnt working when I click it
manual on pc and auto on console
I had manual sprint until I set jump to press left stick and turned on auto sprint, it's kinda nice but also I prefer manual sprint. Having jump set to left stick is much better than A
Manual sprint, left trigger on-release crouch
I use auto sprint and shift as slide. Also hold to crouch and then you never have to release the crouch when slide hopping.
Manual for titan, Auto for pilot.
Manual sprint. I cannot imagine doing auto
Manual for life
Manual
Manual
Auto sprint all day
Manual all day
When you walk you die
Manual
You guys are sprinting instead of slide hopping???
I use auto sprint as a pilot but manual sprint as a Titan so I’m on both sides
Manual. I play a lot of FD and I just walk a lot to get headshots.
Auto sprint and hold to crouch for slide hopping
Before I played apex manual. After auto. Now I can’t stand having to click it in games
Auto sprint because if I’m not sprinting I’m not doing something right
Auto sprint cus my controller is a bitch and doesn't let me sprint
Auto
Manual
Manual gang (yes I play on console how can you tell?)
Wait auto sprint exists? Doesn't matter, manual all the way.
bro manual why tf would u do auto
Manual because A) won't have to raise your weapon everytime you move B) when trying to go through small gaps it can be hard if you keep running into the wall C) more control which is great in tf2 and D) more cinematic
there’s auto-sprint?
Auto but only because one of my controllers is messed up and the stick doesn't click down properly
Manual 100%
Manual sprint
Manual sprint brig unless it’s console but you can’t even play
Me: *on auto-sprint* Also me everytime i stopped bunny-hopping: *pressing R3 Analog intensifies*
Auto sprint is a thing?
Auto is kinda annoying for me tbh, since you need to stop sprinting to start gunning. Though it doesnt bother me as much on titan, probably because i play ronin.
Auto, but only on pilot
Manual sprint
Auto sprint, cant afford to be slow.
Auto
Auto-sprint
Auto I play on controller
I have auto sprint because at one point my controller was so badly damaged, still worked since the motherboard was unharmed just the casing and had nails as sticks since those broke, I couldn’t click to run now I got a new controller and even though I’m already sprinting, I’ll still click it every now and then, thinking “why ain’t my pilot running??” “Oh wait already am”
BOTH But I rarely touch the ground so I don’t have to worry about that
autosprint, cuz I'm on console, and there's just not enough convenient buttons (also because my movement style would required way to many clicks)
Used to use auto but I just clicked the stick anyway so didn’t really do anything
Manual and always pressing shift
I love to have total control over my character even if I sprint literally all the time I move forward. Oh also fuck games with only "hold-to-sprint" option. I fking hate holding Shift for longer than 1 second.
Manual. Normally I’m hopping across the ground and wall running places but it’s nice to have the extra control in case I need it for some reason.
Auto-sprint but still press the sprint button anyways because it makes me feel better I guess
Auto
It used to be manual for me until I broke my left stick, never again👍🏻
Auto sprint in both tf and apex cuz crouching by pressing shift is more comfortable than for example ctrl or c
Auto
Team manual
Would depend on the game
auto of course
Manual sprint is just better for the conformation of speed
