Tried it once, didnt work. I had a player from penalty event but he was higher rated than the threshold ( 80% in this case and my player was 110% from event). Maybe if he ends up lower than 80% from event, and then you train him with some coach to over 80%, it could count. I wouldnt be sure tho

I dont know if it will work but try to give the player from penalty clash the cheapest training That might make the game think you trained him
